I was able to make Firefox 27.0.1 OpenSUSE 12.3 x64 use Squirrelmail for mailto: addresses by carefully following these instructions: http://forums.mozillazine.org/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=2399957 using http_*s*_://<your server>/<squirrelmail base dir>/src/mailto.php?emailaddress=_*%s*_ (as opposed to %1 in other instructions, and I configured to use https instead of http at my site) Similarly for Chromium (I haven't tried this one yet): https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=154031 Making either browser use Squirrelmail for mailto: composition addresses is a challenging/difficult problem. Firefox has defaults for GMail and Yahoo preconfigured. Chromium doesn't appear to have a default mailto: handler. I couldn't find any straightforward way for a "normal" user (non-programmer) to configure anything as a mailto handler in either browser which isn't already built-in. As the fellow in the first article said, "Gee, it only took 1.5 years to figure out". Both browsers have some addons/extensions applications available which can be found by searching for "mailto" in their respective application areas. While debugging, I pasted the URL http://<your server>/<squirrelmail base dir>/src/mailto.php?emailaddress=*myEmail@my**D**omain.com* into my browser of choice to ensure I had the correct URL format. The rest was getting my browser configured to use the URL I want, and in Firefox, replace my...@my... with %s. I hope these two articles help you get to where you want to go: http://forums.mozillazine.org/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=2399957 https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=154031 Craig On 03/07/2014 08:51 AM, Chris Hodgson wrote: > We are running a number of Linux Thin Client machines (GNOME). We are running a number of Linux Thin Client machines (GNOME). We would like to have squirrelmail as the default mailto handler. I found documentation on the squirrelmail page with regards to this for Windows and Mac but not Linux. I know in Linux there is a spot under Preferred Applications to set a Mail Reader. And below that there is a place to put in a command. I tried using the information from here https://squirrelmail.org/docs/stable-code/squirrelmail/_src---mailto.php.html But it is still not working. If someone could put me in the right direction that would be great. As well I know you can change the default handler in Chrome but I do not believe squirrelmail is an option. -- Chris Hodgson Saunders Book Company Systems Administrator 705-445-4777 ext 3070 |

Looking at the file names, the correct file should be obvious, but if it's not, you should re-read the INSTALL document. I don't generally have to when installing the few plugins I'm using now, and without getting into an argument about what is obvious to someone who did not write the code, "// Show options on folder preferences page" doesn't really tell the uninitiated "you won't see this feature unless you go to the Options ==> Folder Preferences page and change the 'Enable Custom Sent Folder Selector' option". Unless you were alluding to some other part of it, but that's all I could find. Again, not trying to start an argument over this, and I do appreciate your help, but that does not seem so obvious that I deserve chastising for not figuring that out. You were nice enough to create a docs folder with documentation, and I don't see any mention of it there, either. > >> Then I saw that the latest release is for SquirrelMail 1.4.6+. > "+" means "and above" Yes, that was silly on my part. For some reason at the time I saw my version as 1.4.2.2 instead of 1.4.22 so in my head 1.4.6+ was newer. I uninstalled the older version and reinstalled this one, which is working fine. Thanks again. And my apologies for cross-posting. I wasn't even aware of the separate list for plugins until I saw it mentioned in an email in squirrelmail-users, and that was after I sent the first one. Now I'm subscribed to both and that won't happen again. |

Hi. I'm using squirrelmail 2:1.4.22-1|| under Ubuntu 12.04, which seems to be working fine. As far as I can tell, that's the latest stable release, though I see lots of references to later releases. I installed several plugins that seem to be working fine, but one that is very important to me is variable_sent_folder (http://squirrelmail.org/plugin_view.php?id=100) I added the latest one, and it shows up in the installed plugins list in conf.pl, but it doesn't appear on the squirrelmail compose screen. Then I saw that the latest release is for SquirrelMail 1.4.6+. I replaced it with version 0.4 from 2003 (unfortunately I forgot to uninstall first so I had to edit the config and plugins file), then installed it through conf.pl, but it's still not showing up. I don't see anything in my apache logs. The newer version is owned by a completely different person than the old version, and with the old version being over 10 years old, I'm hesitant to contact the author. I'm hoping someone can give me a clue of what to try. Alternately, is there an ubuntu package way of installing a newer (but not necessarily bleeding edge) version of Squirrelmail? Thanks in advance. |

Hello, I am interested in installing the G/PGP Encryption Plugin in SquirrelMail version 1.4.21. I noted on this page http://squirrelmail.org/plugin_view.php?id=153 that it states: "The current release of this plugin is not functional with newer versions of SquirrelMail” and want to check with that group if this applies to version 1.4.21 prior to attempting to install. Between getting the mail server setup and SquirrelMail configured, I worked really hard to get things setup and working properly. I’m going off the believe of “don’t try to fix something that isn’t broke” and I really don’t want to wreck my mail server; thus the reason why I’m asking the group prior to attempting to install the plugin. |

Hi Sirs, I am new to squirrelmail plugins. I tried change_sqlpass-3.3-1.2.tar.gz with compability-2.0.16 running on the latest squirrelmail package from Debian Wheezy but unfortunately the change sqlpass was not working. No errors only blank screen. Can please kindly advised me on where i missed out. I also saw your reply to robsbots in regards to your newer version of your plugin. Can i have this newer versions too which could probably support the compability? Hope to hear from you all again soon. A little late, but I was the maintainer of the tbaddr plugin. We used it in house at my company for several years, but we no longer use it. I was bitterly disappointed by the failure of my efforts to get it listed on the squirrelmail page, so I stopped paying attention to the squirrelmail dev. lists. It never fully supported 1.5. Judging by the squirrelmail page, even squirrelmail does not fully support 1.5! Can someone point me to documentation for the matching syntax for the server-side filter plugin? (Or confirm/refute my assumptions below?) My ISP runs Squirrelmail and I need a bit more detail in setting up entries in the the client/user "Filters" interface. RE: -- field match option "match with wildcard" Is this shell-like (i.e. bash) wildcards - i.e. "*" means any character, not 'repeat' RE: -- field match using "regexp" Is this POSIX, PERL, PHP, or ??? regular expressions? If you can point me to docs so I can answer the Q? myself, that would be good too :-) ___ James D. Howard, jh...@al... |

This plugin has not been updated for a looong time and there are a few bugs. I am willing to produce a new version. What do I need to do to do that -- other than putting a tar file somewhere ? I would also like to add another optional check in the appropriate hook - where it could warn that password was about to expire - a message would be displayed when a user first logs in. -- Alain Williams Linux/GNU Consultant - Mail systems, Web sites, Networking, Programmer, IT Lecturer. +44 (0) 787 668 0256 http://www.phcomp.co.uk/ Parliament Hill Computers Ltd. I don't remember if I -had- to do this for *Lighting CalDAV* to work, but do know I -had- to for Thunderbird *Addressbook CardDAV* services... The *SoGo Connector* AddOn http://sogo.nu/downloads/frontends.html took care of my Mozilla Thunderbird DAV issues. I think I already suggested to Paul to look at Google SabreDAV PHP Framework http://code.google.com/p/sabredav/ for handling all the different DAV format/version/flavor combinations {WebDAV, CalDAV, CardDAV} Client and Server. Making all DAV version formats work is a thorny problem which SabreDAV is intended to address. Even with SabreDAV this problem won't be "simple", just moderate relief. I'm basing my comments on what OwnCloud PHP developers tell me. I use Thunderbird/Lightning with OwnCloud for Web based Groupware integration. OwnCloud doesn't do eMail, which is where Squirrelmail shines. -- View this message in context: http://squirrelmail.5843.n7.nabble.com/Publishing-to-Shared-Calendar-Plugin-with-WebDav-support-tp25481p25679.html Sent from the squirrelmail-plugins mailing list archive at Nabble.com. |

Have spent much time looking but haven't found any reference for this problem. When logged in, both left and right panels are showing "garbage" html code. Also, when testing the configuration everything seems ok, but I get the mbstring overload error and don't know if I can ignore or what to do about it. There is no specific info that makes sense to me on how to get rid of the mbsring issue. Appreciate help. RDB |

It turns out you have to disable: Only Reply In HTML When Viewing HTML Format However, if I'm reading an email with HTML and hit reply, why wouldn't it show up as HTML with that option enabled (yes)? Also, now when I reply to text only emails, my reply turns it into HTML and I don't want that. Anyway, there is still a bug. If I reply to HTML with the "Only Reply In HTML When Viewing HTML Format" option set to yes, it should reply and keep the existing email HTML formatting intact, but it doesn't. When forwarding or replying to an email in HTML, the text version is shown in the compose window even though the HTML format options bar is available (i.e. the HTML plugin is installed). I see there is an html version attached as an untitled file, but most people don't know what to do with it and it doesn't usually look exactly like the original anyway. Is there any way to have SquirrelMail forward and reply to the message with the original HTML maintained? I've tried to change the display settings, but have not been able to make it work. |

Perhaps *you* can post version information. Did you read the mailing list posting guidelines? Hello, I installed SquirrelMail 1.4.22 and all locales "all_locales-1.4.18-20090526.zip". I set the language default in "config.php" to "cs_CZ" . My webmail does not show this default language. Whem I tried to force it via user setting = in particular user -> it did not change either. It shows all the time English. I tried even to force cs_CZ in i18.php (either forced or not) - it showed English. I have my webmail at windows 2008 R2 server. Any idea where is the problem? Thank you. -maver- -- View this message in context: http://squirrelmail.5843.n7.nabble.com/Language-switch-does-not-work-tp25642.html Sent from the squirrelmail-plugins mailing list archive at Nabble.com. |

Therefore, where can I find the updated change_password plugin? I have thirty or so other plugins being used on this system, with only the change_password one that seems to cause problems with the v1.3 version of the compatibility plugin. Thanks, Alex |

Hi, I'm trying to use the latest change_password plugin, which apparently requires compatibility-1.3 to operate. I currently have compatibility-1.0 installed, along with a dozen or so other plugins. With only compatibility-1.0, the Options section is blank. When I upgrade to 1.3, the change_password plugin appears to work properly, but the main left frame and much of the center frame are empty. How do I troubleshoot this? What further information can I provide to debug this? I'm not sure whether to fix the other plugins that don't work with the 1.3 version of compatibility, or try and make the change_password v4.0 plugin work with the older compatibility plugin? Thanks, Alex |
