Hi there, we've some issue with attachment_doc plugin in the SM 1.4.22. When I click to an attachment (DOC or PDF), SM open it by this plugin, all fine. I could "Download this as a file <http://email1.fnhk.cz/mail/src/download.php?mailbox=INBOX&passed_id=172269&startMessage=1&override_type0=text&override_type1=html&doctype=doc&ent_id=2&absolute_dl=true>", all fine. But when I want go back to the message, after click to "*Viewing a document attachment - View message <http://email1.fnhk.cz/mail/plugins/attachment_doc/includes/cleanup.php?mailbox=INBOX&passed_id=172269&startMessage=1&override_type0=text&override_type1=html&doctype=doc&ent_id=0&prefixname=karlijos1921892137&dirname=/srv/www/htdocs/mail//plugins/attachment_doc/tmp>*" - I got an error: The server couldn't find the message you requested. Most probably your message list was out of date and the message has been moved away or deleted (perhaps by another program accessing the same mailbox). Click here to return to INBOX <http://email1.fnhk.cz/mail/src/right_main.php?sort=0&startMessage=0&mailbox=INBOX> When I return to inbox, the message exists. Isn't there some problem with some variable in the link to return to the message ? Any ideas ? Thanks and best regards J.Karliak -- Bc. As already mentioned on squirrelmail-users, we recently moved our SquirrelMail installation from Debian Squeeze to Wheezy, which implies a move from PHP 5.3 to PHP 5.4. When using the "add_address" plugin (1.0.3, which is the most recent I could find), I see the following message in the error log, which may or may not have been there with previous PHP version as well: """ PHP Deprecated: Function eregi() is deprecated in /home/webmail/src/squirrelmail/plugins/add_address/functions.php on line 718, referer: [...] """ Well, yes, eregi() is deprecated. So I propose the following change, which seems to work for me: --- a/plugins/add_address/functions.php +++ b/plugins/add_address/functions.php @@ -715,7 +715,7 @@ function aa_validate_email($email, $verify) // check formatting // - if (!eregi('^' . $Email_RegExp_Match . Greetings, I need to install the change_passwd plugin on a recent install of SquirrelMail. I need the version that works with the compatibility 2.x plugin. It says to contact the author but all I have is a name. If I could get this version, I would appreciate it very much. I apologize in advance, if I am breaking the posting protocol, but I wasn't sure what else to do. Cheers! Marc Taylor |

I've added a backend for the CAPTCHA plugin that supports the new Google reCAPTCHA API (checkbox captcha, etc). It's packaged as a .tar file that can be dropped onto the sqirrelmail directory. Where do I post the .tar file for the community? The patches URL on squirrelmail.org points to a stale page on sourceforge. I guess someone will ask: it's a new backend because the parameters are different, the api requires https, and some people may not want the new version. The new backend is checkbox_recaptcha. Still, it's an easy upgrade - edit the checkbox_recaptcha config file and switch the backend name. Things are just different enough to require a different config, but not so different as to be hard to make the change. Caveat: I provided code to detect and use the 1.5.2+ template system, but as I don't run it, it's not tested. The normal code works for me. The kit also includes an optional patch allowing IPv6 wildcards in the hide/show by IP address lists. I didn't add IPv6 CIDR support as (a) I don't need it and (b) it's a bit of a pain to deal with 128 bit addresses. Finally, if you haven't hard about the new reCAPTCHA, see http://googleonlinesecurity.blogspot.com/2014/12/are-you-robot-introducing-no-captcha.html In short, it's a better user experience - most of the time. -- This communication may not represent my employer's views, if any, on the matters discussed. |

Thanks in advance. I don't *think* this has anything to do with PHP 5.4, but I could be wrong. I'd be more inclined to say there is something wrong with how you've configured your backend. Perhaps try changing backend type or, sometimes even intentionally causing an error in your configuration (wrong hostname, password, whatever) can be illuminating. Also, what version of Server Settings Backend are you using (and/or show what is on line 163 of the functions.php file)? Showing your configuration can also be very helpful. -- Paul Lesniewski SquirrelMail Team Please support Open Source Software by donating to SquirrelMail! http://squirrelmail.org/donate_paul_lesniewski.php |

Hello: I've been trying to install SquirrelMail 1.4.23 SVN on a box with PHP 5.4. A lot of things are working, except for the "serversidefilter" plugin. It appeared that the latest copy of this was on Sourceforge which I grabbed and tried using. It's "server_side_filters-2.0beta1-1.4.0.tar.gz". However, when trying to go to the Options / Mail Filters area, I'm getting a blank page and the logs are showing a PHP memory error: PHP Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 134217728 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 130968 bytes) in /var/www/squirrelmail/plugins/server_settings_backend/functions.php on line 163, referer: https://myserver/src/options.php Is there anything I can do to debug this further? Thanks in advance. -- Chris |

Most important thing is not to patch files unless you document it clearly and keep the patch on hand. To prevent that from happening accidentally, set permissions on the files that don't allow writing. > So it's now working, and perhaps this is more of a general php question, > but... > >>> There are no php errors in the logs, and my configtest.php looks okay. >> >> Please show your PHP error level settings and configtest output. > > I enabled practically every php.ini error/debug setting I could find, > but there's no error output. I enabled practically every php.ini error/debug setting I could find, but there's no error output. Where is this information normally displayed? Among the variables I enabled are: log_errors = On log_errors_max_len = 1024 html_errors = On error_log = /var/log/php-scripts.log error_reporting = E_ALL display_errors = On display_startup_errors = On This would really help next time I had an error and needed to troubleshoot. I also tried to add a few print statements in the code, but there were just too many possible places that it would make it very difficult for me. Thanks, Alex |

Then the best starting point is to try to undo recent changes until it works, then put each change back in place one at a time until things break. Otherwise, try installing a parallel SM install and only activate the lockout plugin - nothing else. Hi, I'm using a squirrelmail 1.4.23SVN snapshot and having trouble with the lockout plugin. I had it configured on a test system many months ago, and I thought it was working properly, but now it's not. There are no php errors in the logs, and my configtest.php looks okay. Squirrelmail otherwise works fine. I'm not sure how to further debug this, and really hoped someone could help. I've configured locked_out.php with my own text, and it's never printed. I've also installed and enabled the compatibility plugin. The lockout_plugin_login_failure_information.pref has old entries in it where it once worked properly. squirrelmail_access_log has the failed login entries, but there are no new entries in the lockout_plugin_login_failure_information.pref file after trying and failing to login $max_login_attempts times. I've included my config.php below (using example.com) $use_lockout_rules = 1; $reverseLockout = ''; $at = '@'; $obey_x_forwarded_headers = 0; $max_login_attempts = '6:10:30'; $max_login_attempts_per_IP = ''; $activate_CAPTCHA_after_failed_attempts = ''; $lockout_notification_addresses = 'gd...@ex...'; $log_violated_lockout_rules = 1; $log_violated_max_user_logins = 1; $log_violated_max_IP_logins = 0; $log_CAPTCHA_enabled = 0; $lockout_useSendmail = NULL; $lockout_smtpServerAddress = NULL; $lockout_smtpPort = NULL; $lockout_sendmail_path = NULL; $lockout_sendmail_args = NULL; $lockout_pop_before_smtp = NULL; $lockout_encode_header_key = NULL; $lockout_smtp_auth_mech = NULL; $lockout_smtp_sitewide_user = NULL; $lockout_smtp_sitewide_pass = NULL; Thanks, Alex |

I'm using change_pass-3.1 plugin with Paweł Krawczyk poppassd (http://ipsec.pl/files/ipsec/poppassd-1.8.5.tar.gz) password changer for updating user's (shadow) files and/or LDAP passwords. What was confusing users was quite unclear message when password change fails - plugin says only 'Password change was not successful!' But when configuring underlying poppassd with pam_cracklib, then there may be lot of reasons for failure (e.g.: BAD PASSWORD: is a palindrome BAD PASSWORD: is too similar to the old one BAD PASSWORD: is too simple BAD PASSWORD: it does not contain enough DIFFERENT characters BAD PASSWORD: it is based on a dictionary word BAD PASSWORD: it is based on a (reversed) dictionary word BAD PASSWORD: it is too simplistic/systematic BAD PASSWORD: it is WAY too short etc.) Fortunately poppassd sends them to change_pass plugin and there can be processed - which is what it is trying to have do my small patch in attachment. In case of failure, message from popassd is displayed together with original message. Sorry, I'm not programmer and my solution is probably ugly hack, but at least it could serve as idea for precise improvement (e.g. enable this option in config.php as other poppassd servers may not be capable to return errors etc.) Regards, Franta Hanzlik |

hi, I started developing plugin for 2-step authentication using Time-based One-Time-Passwords (TOTP) generated by Google Authenticator app for mobile phones (wiki says it's actually a subset of RFC6238 and not a proprietary invention). It's based on Yubikey plugin and it's my first plugin so please feel free to tell me if i'm doing something wrong (ok, I just found http://squirrelmail.org/docs/devel/devel-4.html#ss4.16 - that should be next on my list). It works with 1.4.x branch only and there are some issues which I'm intended to fix, but I'd also like to hear some feedback. How to test it: 1. You need iPhone or Android phone with Google Authenticator app installed. On Linux, you can probably also use oathtool 2. Download http://alexey.shpakovsky.ru/unlisted/google_authenticator-0.1-1.4.0.tar.gz, extract it and install as usual. 3. Go to Options - Personal Information and look at the bottom - there will be "Google Authenticator" section 4. Click the link to generate key - it will show you a QR code 5. Scan the QR code using Google Authenticator app on your phone 6. Sign Out of SquirrelMail 7. On the login form, there is a new field for entering one-time password generated by app on the phone Feel free to write your comments, suggestions, etc! Links: Android app: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.google.android.apps.authenticator2 iPhone app: https://itunes.apple.com/app/google-authenticator/id388497605 Linux command-line tool: http://www.nongnu.org/oath-toolkit/oathtool.1.html Download link, once again: http://alexey.shpakovsky.ru/unlisted/google_authenticator-0.1-1.4.0.tar.gz Wiki page: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Google_Authenticator |

The Login Authentication plugin was designed to be modular enough to handle different forms of external authentication. I haven't looked at the method you refer to, so it may or may not be compatible with that plugin, but you could start there and report back. If that doesn't work, code from other plugins will probably apply to some extent. -- Paul Lesniewski SquirrelMail Team Please support Open Source Software by donating to SquirrelMail! http://squirrelmail.org/donate_paul_lesniewski.php |

I have scoured around looking for a Google 2-Step Authentication plugin and don't seem to be having any luck. Is there a plugin available for this or is there one in the works that anyone knows of? Hello, Just as an FYI, I just moved one of my mail servers from an old debian squeeze (php5.3) to debian Jessie (php5.6). I read all the notes on the php5.4 upgrade and pulled a fresh copy from svn and ran the squirrelmail-php_5.4-htmlspecialchars_update.diff patch. Other than that it was a straight copy from one server to the other. So far the only glitch I have run into is that the preview_pane plugin causes the reply/forward/etc buttons to not show up when you click to view the message unless it is turned on. IE if the option is turned off, you cannot reply when viewing a message. If it is turned on, the buttons do show up in the preview pane. Sorry I didn't do more significant testing or investigating, but the problem is resolved by disabling the plugin, so I am calling it good for now because I need to move on to some other things. Just thought I would report it.... -- Computerisms Bob Miller 867-334-7117 / 867-633-3760 http://computerisms.ca |

You also need to show what browser you are using - the plugin tries to turn itself off if the browser doesn't have the necessary script support, but that recognition could be a bit naive. -- Paul Lesniewski SquirrelMail Team Please support Open Source Software by donating to SquirrelMail! http://squirrelmail.org/donate_paul_lesniewski.php |

Hi Paul, A correction of the previous email, I am using PHP 5.3.3. Sorry.... :-( I'm using forced_prefs plugin, it may be hindering the funcionality html_mail plugin? Html_mail in fckeditor plugin I enabled by default for all, rather than htmlarea. Is there anything else that you can enable on config_php, any debug for example, to check any errors and / or incompatibilitade?
