We may not receive incoming from the list due to the concern stated here
--it may take us a while to visit the maillist web-site and view any
replies.

THE CONCERN:

We forget during which upgrade of SM this happened, but the following will
not resolve itself ...

The avelsieve plugin's 'table.php' page is completely blank. The previous
version of this plugin that was used without issue was 1.9.8. As time
passed, and future SM updates were applied, the avelsieve 'Filters' page
(table.php) remains blank. We have just upgraded to avelsieve-1.9.9 and
the table.php page remains blank --no interface--

Exactly what has gone sideways?

Thanks, it's now working, the problem was with my password encryption. the
plugin could not read sha512 encrypted etc shadow file

IIRC, there is extensive troubleshooting information in the README file.
You should follow that and post the information requested, as this is not
enough to be able to help you.  There is also a newer version available from
me (ask offlist) that may have more troubleshooting features, but may not
help if you already have it
(mostly) working.

A quick fix is to change from this line:

-        parent::__construct(&$s, $rule, $n);

to this:

I have a problem with Change_passwd plugin on CentOS 6.2. The plugin worked
perfectly fine on CentOS 5.8 but after installing CentOS 6.2 it keeps on
saying Current password is incorrect. I enabled debugging but it keeps on
saying Current password is incorrect

You do not need to change all the addressbook_init() calls as such.
You probably only want to disable the lookups that happen when
messages are displayed to reduce LDAP server load.  If you disable
LDAP lookups indiscriminately -- for example, when the user clicks the
"Add to Address Book" link, this can lead to users duplicating
addresses that are already in a centrally managed global address book
in their personal address books.  This creates problems if/when the
global one is updated.

The better solution is more fine-grained control over if and when
lookups happen.

If you want to help test a newer version of the plugin that has such
controls, ask me offlist for a copy.

Thanks - I didn't appreciate that the two different modes were using 
different spell check mechanisms.
It does limit the functionality somewhat not being able to add your own 
words into the spell checking if you need to use html compose format!

Plugin has five addressbook_init(FALSE) calls. Two in add_addresses.php and
three in functions.php. Second function argument disables ldap address
books. If it is not set, function defaults to enabled ldap. Change those
calls to addressbook_init(FALSE,TRUE)

mmmm, it works......

but now, the text I have written, the one that you can see at
the upper text box of the spellcheker window, becomes altered with the strange characters, at
the lower part, where the spellchecker interacts, averything is ok now.

Yet another related issue.

Now that it works, if I apply spellchecker in Spanish I
got this:

Can not find   "raices"  at the
Dicctionary.   Change to "raíces"

the correct one should be "raíces" with an accent on the i,
but all
the suggested words that should have an accent in any letter are shown with strange characters
instead of the accented letter.

Any idea of why this is happening and how to solve
it?
