The standards are grand, but between DB2 UDB, SQL Server, MySQL, PostgreSQL and Oralce, their market share of almost 100% suggests that it would be wise to support the /**/ comments anyway. Sorry I couldn’t help you out. Hopefully someone finds it useful. Here is something I found but it didn't make any difference on my Win10 machine. The solution for applications that do not display correct on 4K screens is to tell the jvm it must NOT run dpi aware. This is done by providing a jvm parameter in the startup script of the java application -Dsun.java2d.dpiaware=false Best Regards, Wesley S. Mine was located at ‘C:\Program Files (x86)\Java\jre1.8.0_111\bin’ In the left pane of Resource Hacker expand the Manifest node and select 1:0 Find the section that looks like this: <asmv3:application> <asmv3:windowsSettings xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/SMI/2005/WindowsSettings"> <dpiAware>true</dpiAware> </asmv3:windowsSettings> </asmv3:application> Change the line <dpiAware>true</dpiAware> to <dpiAware>false</dpiAware> Select Action > Modify or F5 to compile the changes. Save the java.exe file. If windows security does not allow you to save it in the programs folder, save it to your desktop and then move it to the original folder, overwriting the existing jave.exe file. Repeat the process on the javaw.exe file in the same folder. Open Squirrel SQL and it should now display correctly. If it doesn’t, go back and verify that the dpiAware setting was for sure changed to false. I had a couple times when the change was not applied. This process also works for other programs that display very small. For more information on this procedure see the link below. http://winaero.com/blog/how-to-fix-apps-that-look-small-on-high-dpi-and-high-resolution-displays/ Hope this helps. Best Regards, Wesley S. Hello Tomas, I had the same frustrating experience when I first got my 4k monitor. Here is what you need to do. I did test and confirm that this works with Squirrel SQL. Download and install the free Resource Hacker program from here: http://www.angusj.com/resourcehacker/ Start Resource Hacker and open the java.exe file. Recently 'turned on' SSL on a MS sqlserver database. I have selected 'SSL' via the alias properties but can not connect. I am able to connect via a command line tool. It takes a while, but fails to connect. What am I missing? Connects fine if SSL is turned off on the database. Thank you for any assistance Geoffrey Myers |

Hi Squirrel-sql-users, Well I just made a very interesting discovery after doing only my second sql query. I did a basic query on the Product table: SELECT * FROM PRODUCTS and guess what? All the records now displayed! So my question is, why when I opened squirrel each time (and refreshed the database) and then selected the Products table, did I not see all the records (only the old records)? Why did I have to do a query to see all of them? Thanks! --------------------------------------------- I have a database that I am using with uniCenta software. When I loaded the database into Squirrel a few months ago everything seemed to be fine. I updated a bunch of products in uniCenta and it shows fine that program. Now when I fire up Squirrel, the Products table is not showing the new records. Any ideas why this could be happening? Any suggestions? Thanks! Mark |

Hi Squirrel-sql-users, I need to make a correction to my first post from a few days ago. I mentioned: "I had entered a lot of new data and Apache just did not see it. It was still reading the old data. How can I tell Squirrel to refresh the data? It looks like the directory is correct for the files." This is not correct. After looking more closely at the data all of it has been updated by Squirrel except for the most import part! My Product table. Any ideas why this has happened and what I can try to get the table to update? Thanks very much! Mark |

If you are looking for those vendor specific details you would be better off using SQLDeveloper for Oracle and IBM Data Studio for UDB. Both are free d/l. I personally would not expect a generic SQL client like Squirrel to have support for 100% of each and every back end’s proprietory features. Hi Squirrel-sql-users, I was able to make a successful Alias connection a while back and get in to edit tables etc. of my Apache Derby Embedded files. Just this evening I wanted to get back in to edit some tables and the first thing I discovered was that Apache did not notice that my database had changed, new data entered into it. I had entered a lot of new data and Apache just did not see it. It was still reading the old data. How can I tell Squirrel to refresh the data? It looks like the directory is correct for the files. Thanks! Mark -- All the best, Trio59-computing mailto:tri...@ya... |

Good day, I've been using SQuirrel 3.7.1 for quite a while without issue. This afternoon I Installed Ruby 2.3.1p112 (added to path) and Gem 2.6.8 to work on a Jekyll-based project; now SQuirrel won't open. When I click the executable, I get a brief Command Prompt window that is extinguished immediately; moreover, there is no logfile. I'm running Windows 7 on a 64 bit machine. Wanted to check and see if this group had any ideas before I uninstalled anything. Many thanks, Colin |
