Hello list We continue to have significant bother with cash-basis tax reports. In Australia, the existing reports are incorrect because part-payments are ignored. See example at end. Dieter seems not yet convinced that these reports are wrong, so I'm interested to know of any other places in the world that applies cash-basis tax-reporting the same as we do. Hopefully then Dieter may be interested to reconsider the problem, and seek a better solution. I believe New Zealand is the same. Can someone confirm ? Anywhere else ? Thanks David J PS. If you use Cash Basis tax reporting in Australia, you have been warned !! Example. Remember its cash basis tax reporting. On 15 February we invoiced a customer for $1,000 plus GST of $100, total $1,100. On 14 March the customer paid $550 towards the invoice. We applied the part payment correctly. At the end of March there is $550 still owing on the account. Under Australian GST rules, we collected GST of $50 from this customer during March, and we now owe that to the Tax Office. But SQL-L incorrectly reports the GST collected as zero, until the invoice has been paid in full ! (If we report zero we could get into serious trouble with our Tax Office.) The remaining $550 was received in April, and the final $50 of GST should be reported and paid to the Tax Office sometime later. But the SQL-L report for April, Cash Basis, now shows $100 of GST collected. The SQL-L report is again incorrect. Of course this issue applies to both AP and AR partly paid invoices. However, the powers that be feel that this is a user training issue (eg 'tell your users not to make duplicates'). I think you'll find that you're probably using the 'Post As New' function which easily allows you to create duplicate invoice numbers. A long time ago we put a unique index on the AR and OE tables to stop duplicates, and we also modified the code to get a new Invoice (or PO) number if posting as new and a number is already assigned. Trying on Windows XP with Firefox 2.0.0.3 works fine too. Only Fedora6 has a problem with blinky pages.. Fedora7 is out on May31. I wonder if I should just wait. Switching to Firefox 2.0.0.3 on Fedora6 does NOT cure the problem. Blinky pages, when hovering over colored menu and page words, is still there and is there whether 'onmouseover' is in bin/mozilla/menu.pl or not. I am seeing my window blink at a rate of about 1 per second whenever I hover the mouse over a colored menu item. It also happens when hovering over the (colored) names of businesses in the page 'Type of Business'. (Also, it seems ANY colored item) This is even after slicing out all 'onmouseover' routines in bin/mozilla/all.pl When I 'View Frame Source' and search for 'onmouseover', there are none. (dumped cache too) Window still blinks. This is a problem because it takes several clicks on menu items to get to the desired form. Also, if I hover over colored menu items down further on the menu, when the frame refreshes, the top of the menu is displayed. The line I hovered over is below the scroll cutoff then. A serious problem. I am using Firefox 1.5.0.10 |

To convert all of the files starting with German* I used the commands: mkdir iout mkdir iin cp sql/German* iin # ls iin cd iin # ls -1=20 ls -1 | xargs -i iconv -f ISO_8859-1 -t UTF-8 {} -o ../iout/{} # ls -l ../iout Once the converted files are in directory iout, they can be pumped into the database by: psql sql-ledger sql-ledger=3D# \i /usr/local/sql-ledger/sql/Germany-SKR03-chart.sql sql-ledger=3D# \i /usr/local/sql-ledger/sql/Germany-SKR03-gifi.sql Now I do see listings in the Chart of Accounts, but still have sql errors when I try to insert data. (I don't know what to put in all of the text entries, so I leave some blank. Maybe this is the problem). I do have the Manual, but it is like many other technical manuals. You have to read it a couple of times from page 1 to page 284, then remember what you have read. Then attempt to install and populate the database. |

When I look at 'page source' or 'frame source' in my browser, the leading <html> tag is missing. The first tag is <head> I am using Firefox 1.5.0.10 Also, the left frame (menu..) jumps around a lot. I wonder if it is due to the missing <html> tag? |

Ok I've done a bit more investigation and narrowed it down to this: I use hyperref package to make an href within the pdf document. I've removed those lines and it seemed to correct the problem Are there any LaTex gurus out there that know how to correctly implement an <a href="http://...">click here</a> within a pdf ? At the moment I use : DEFINTITION: \usepackage[pdftex, colorlinks=true, urlcolor=blue, % \href{...}{...} external (URL) filecolor=rltgreen, % \href{...} local file linkcolor=rltred, % \ref{...} and \pageref{...} pdftitle={yadda yadda}, pdfauthor={yadda yadda}, pdfsubject={Invoice <%invnumber%>}, pdfkeywords={Invoice <%invnumber%> from yadda yadda}, pdfadjustspacing=1, pagebackref, pdfpagemode=None, unicode=false]{hyperref} ACTUAL HREF: \href{URL}{text} Any tips would be greatly appreciated Cheers, Ryan Dr Eberhard Lisse wrote: > Tell them to download Acrobat Reader. > > el > > on 5/22/07 3:35 AM Andrew @ ATM Logic said the following: > > >> When this happens, I tell them to forward the mail back to me... >> 95% of the time the PDF is fine... This could be a possible bug in 2.8.4 When posting a transaction in the general ledger, 6 blank lines are being inserted in between the actual accounts used in the transaction. These blank entries show up when reconciling the account and this is how I first noticed the problem. When you go into the transaction and hit update the extra lines are removed and the transaction when reposted remains normal. Anyone else noticed this? Ryan |

This is easy: Use the cash module and register the complete payment of the client (including the overpayment.) The overpayment will stay in accounts receivable with an negative value. When the client pays his next invoice use again the cash module: Select the amount of the new invoice as well as the negative value of the overpaid invoice. I need a little help understanding how to use part of the "credit" system. I have a customer who overpaid because I didn't have enough change on hand. He wanted to just have the excess added to his account. Now, when I go to do an invoice, it shows remaining credit. How do I apply this credit to a new bill? What should have been the proper way to log the excess payment in the first place? Thanks, -myk robinson |

This is probably a dumb question, but here I am an english speaker/writer trying to create a german language database. This error occurred after attempting to create the sql-ledger database with the Germany-DATEV-SKR03 chart of accounts. No multibyte encoding was selected. Error! INSERT INTO gifi (accno, description) VALUES ('0000100', 'Aufwand Gesch=EF=BF=BDftsbetrieb') ERROR: invalid byte sequence for encoding "UTF8": 0xe46674 HINT: This error can also happen if the byte sequence does not match the encoding expected by the server, which is controlled by "client_encoding". -------- Next step... I went back to the datasete creation screen and selected Unicode UTF-8 from the drop down menu. Clicking continue, I get: Error! CREATE SEQUENCE id start 10000 ERROR: relation "id" already exists --------- Going back to the beginning (my usual mode of operation), with: template1=3D# DROP DATABASE "sql-ledger"; DROP DATABASE template1=3D#=20 I then have to go back two steps to the create database screen. But, alas, I get: Error! FATAL: database "sql-ledger" does not exist Of course it does not exist. I am trying to create it. Why the error.. |

I manage to do things several times until I get them 'right'. At the moment, I am wondering why the system user of 'sql-ledger' has a hyphen in the middle. Might sqlledger be better? template1=# DROP USER sql-ledger; ERROR: syntax error at or near "-" at character 14 LINE 1: DROP USER sql-ledger; ^ |

Hi All, I'm experiencing problems in installing SQL Ledger. I'm successfully doing all steps mentioned in the installation manual. Yet, after initializing dataset, i m getting problems. The error is "Error 500 Apache Internal Error". Upon checking the error log of Apache Web Server it is mentioned that error was due to premature end of script. I'm using Windows XP SP2, Active Perl 5.6, Apache 2.0 & Postgres 8.0. I even did the installation of components on other PC with fresh Windows XP SP2 install, but same problem is there. Even with getting latest versions of Postgres, Apache the problem is not solved. I not good at PERL at all so i have no clue why am i getting this error. Mandeep Singh. |

Hi All I'm having major forex issues with 2.8.5 :-( Case 1 (partial success): - Enter POS - change to non-default currency and set exchange rate - add part & price is correctly shown in forex - change currency to default currency and price shown is NOT changed to local currency :-( Case 2 (total failure - matches last part of Case 1): - Enter POS - add part (local currency) - change to foreign currency and part still shown at local price even though now in foreign currency :-( Forex is a major issue since we will switch from MTL to EUR on 1st Jan next year. I have tested this on a standard upgrade from 2.8.4 and also with a fresh install with data imported after schema cration. Anyone seen anything similar or have any ideas where I may have slipped up? When you install sql-ledger and get the following error message when you start httpd Starting httpd: [Tue May 22 21:08:12 2007] [warn] The Alias directive in /etc/httpd/conf.d/sql-ledger-httpd.conf at line 1 will probably never match because it overlaps an earlier Alias. It means that you are probably 'including' the sql-ledger-httpd information twice. The error message comes on the second include. --- This can happen if you put the sql-ledger config information into the /etc/httpd/conf.d directory as: # ls /etc/httpd/conf.d auth_mysql.conf mod_security.conf phpldapadmin.conf ssl.conf auth_pgsql.conf mrtg.conf proxy_ajp.conf trac.conf authz_ldap.conf perl.conf README welcome.conf manual.conf php.conf sql-ledger-httpd.conf # The config information in this directory is included by line 209 in the file /etc/httpd/conf/httpd.conf # grep -n Include /etc/httpd/conf/httpd.conf 209:Include conf.d/*.conf <snip> 996:# Include /etc/httpd/conf.d/sql-ledger-httpd.conf # If you also include line 996 as given in the sql-ledger README file, then httpd will try to include the sql-ledger-httpd.conf information twice. (Note I have commented out this line). This error message only happens if you don't quite follow the sql-ledger README instructions and stick the sql-ledger-httpd.conf file into the /etc/httpd/conf.d directory rather than the /etc/httpd/conf directory... |
