I was not sure what the DATEV was. My assumption is that there are normally two Charts of Account, the (DATEV - regular ?) and the GIFI. The regular one is mostly visible and the GIFI is there to be linked to and would be available for outside financial audits, etc. Is this the way it works? Maybe doing the DATEV in English and the GIFI in German? Have not tried this. The coding part I can figure out, I was just wondering if there was an easier way that was already done. Some hints here would be helpful though. Bob G |

For display purposes (reports) you could use the GIFI, that is if you do not use the GIFI in lieu of DATEV. With a bit of coding you could link the chart of accounts to a translation and retrieve the description based on the language setting. |

I have read through the mainual I do have two users. The menus down the left are nicely translated appropriately. However there are other non-translated items that poke through, particularly the Chart of Accounts data. I agree that learning German or English would be the better solution, but that will happen with time. I am looking for a 'quick fix'. Read the Manual :-)-O Define two users, select appropriate language, for each. Though, personally speaking, I find this hard to believe that one would allow someone not speaking the language of the tax authority concerned, especially one as aggressive as the IRS, access to a book keeping system. greetings, el on 6/7/07 10:19 AM Bob Gustafson said the following: > I have two users: > One is English speaking > Two is German speaking > > Is it possible to have the Chart of Accounts description visible in the > appropriate language for both of these users? > > I know that I will have to supply a translation for these descriptions, > but where should this translation go? > > Thanks for your hints > > Bob G -- Dr. Eberhard W. I have two users: One is English speaking Two is German speaking Is it possible to have the Chart of Accounts description visible in the appropriate language for both of these users? I know that I will have to supply a translation for these descriptions, but where should this translation go? Thanks for your hints Bob G |

I would like to create a direct link to the cash payments report in sql-ledger. I know I only can do that with a user without password, but still i'm unable to make it work. The settings page before the report has this address: http://server/sql-ledger/rp.pl?path=bin/mozilla&action=report&level=Cash--Reports--Payments&login=loginname&js=1&report=payments Therefore I thought the direct link to the report should be something like: http://server/sql-ledger/rp.pl?path=bin/mozilla&action=report&level=Cash--Reports--Payments&login=loginname&js=1&action=list_payments The result of this direct link is the payments report without any items in it, just header and no payments visible! Thats strange since the normal way for accessing the report does show all payments. What should I include in the direct link address? Thanks Prem |

Yes, and the upgrade docs say you must unlock again if you see that error after attempting to login. There is a more detailed explanation on the forum, and perhaps in the mailing list archive. Suffice it to say there is a reason, and it's not supposed to happen again (except for the scenario I stated earlier). Thanks, I did unlock before login but the process must have locked again and thus required a second unlock operation. This does not explain the error. All appears to be working now. Sorry to take so long to get back to you. The "print test page" option in the cups web admin interface (localhost:631) works fine. Also I emailed myself an invoice in postscript form and tried the following: cat ./invoice_1.ps | lpr -Php_lj_1020 and the invoice printed out perfectly. I tried a cups restart but it didn't make any difference in trying to print from SL. I am using SL 2.8.4. Thanks. Bill Dika |

Hi everybody, In 2.8.5 Transfer cash functionality with FX flag for foreign currencies has been removed in favour of currency/exchange rate in GL. The transactions I was able to make in previous versions are now no longer possible. Here is a step by step description of the problem: NEW WAY ======== 1. I enter currency code, exchange rate and Debit CAD with 1000, Credit USD with 1000. 2. Exchange rate gets applied to both transactions and there are four transactions in 'acc_trans' table as: (1) Debit CAD with 1000 (2) Debit CAD with 320 marked AS FX (3) Credit USD with 1000 (4) Credit USD with 320 marked AS FX The cash report shows CAD=1000 (when FX suppressed) whereas it should should 1320. NOT CORRECT. The cash report shows USD=1000 (when FX suppressed) which is CORRECT. OLD WAY ======== (1) Debit CAD with 1320 (2) Credit USD with 1000 (3) Credit USD with 320 AS fx Cash report for CAD as well as USD is correct. ---- Am I missing something or this is a missing feature or bug in 2.8.5. As per my testing, currency code and conversion rate in 2.8.5 has no use because the conversion rate gets applied to all transaction lines. Plz help by suggesting some workaround or pointing me in the right direction. Thanks in advance and my regards Armaghan |

If you print an invoice to a conected printer print an post works. When you print to screen or send invoices by email you still have to save them. Is there a way to force registration when sending invoice by mail or printing to screen? Thanks for any hint! Enrique -- Dirk Enrique Seiffert - Lintec S.A. Ed. Ok I found a bit more information how these duplicate numbers are occurring. We make use of the API for posting some invoices and it appears that when an invoice is posted with a zero amount, the invoice gets put into the database and is allocated a number. But the auto increment value doesn't appear to increase. This looks like it could be a small bug. Cheers, Ryan C. Duncan Hudson wrote: > Ryan Johnson wrote: > >> Hey .. >> >> I'm on a roll today.! Please, is there a way to make and print a Delivery Order? The transaction will deduct accordingly items from the inventory. No sales invoice or payments are made yet. And the product may be returned to the inventory anytime. Really need this feature. Elv. ___________________________________________________________ Yahoo! Answers - Got a question? Please don't top-post in reply to a bottom-post. Top-post all you like if you're the first respondent to a thread and I would ask anyone replying to you not to bottom-post when they follow you. But mixing the two is more annoying and less legible than either. For no apparent reason It'll often need a restart (`/etc/ init.d/cupsd restart`), but this is sufficient to start printing again. Stroller. |

This would tend to suggest to me that your printer configuration is not using CUPS, but (presumably?) old-fangled lpr instead. Or maybe CUPS simply isn't logging? I'm afraid I can't add much helpful to this part of the conversation because CUPS has worked seamlessly for me on the couple of occasions I've set it up, and I have had to do very little debugging. The CUPS webpage has an option to send a test page to the printer. Does this work? Actually, this should make little difference to your problem - if you can `cat textfile | lpr -Php_lj_1020` then I think printing from SL should work. I think this failure to do so indicates an SL problem or bug. To be absolutely sure you could grab a copy of the invoice.ps or invoice.pdf (by emailing it to yourself, for instance) and try `cat invoice.ps | | lpr -Php_lj_1020`. I'm not familiar with the LJ1020 but it would be good to demonstrate that postscript is working with your printer, as that is required to interpret SL's output. I don't believe that Postscript is needed for printing a textfile. Stroller. |

On my system, every once in awhile, cups has a problem. Using the http://localhost:631/ gui interface, my printer appears to be printing and then completes, but nothing appears on the printer (the printer even blinks and then stops blinking). I just 'stop' the printer, and restart it. Usually this fixes the problem. (probably a design flaw in the printer protocol).
