Hello, I recently switched Linux distros from OpenSUSE 10.2 to Ubuntu 7.04. Finally, today I was able to get SQL-Ledger working again with Ubuntu, but I cannot print. Even though I've followed the steps in the faq for printing, it doesn't print. Printed fine with OpenSUSE! I've checked my /var/run/cups/printcap file for the printer name and placed the name properly in the sql-ledger.conf file (just as I did in opensuse) but still, nothing! I've checked using lpstat -v to be sure lpr is properly working, it is. Latex is installed and the "1" is set in the sql-ledger.conf file where needed. It's puzzling to me because I had this setup working fine under OpenSUSE and printing perfectly. Anyone have any suggestions? Thanks! |

If you have been tempted to make changes to the sql-ledger code to respond to local requirements, using svn as your source code control system offers an 'easy' way to handle your changes and the upgrade to new versions when they come out. This piece of the svn handbook outlines the approach: http://svnbook.red-bean.com/nightly/en/svn.advanced.vendorbr.html |

Hi All When I print cheques to pay previously entered AP transactions I would like to have the cheque printed, followed by copies of all of the AP entries it is paying. I need to file copies of the transaction that show not only how it was entered but when and how it is paid so I don't print anything until it is paid (to avoid printing it twice). Currently I am printing all of the cheques, then opening up the customers transactions one at a time finding the transaction I just paid and printing it. It's a pain! I'm sure a little programming would make the software do what I want instead of me doing what the software wants. I can program but don't know my way around the scripts well enough to do this one right now. I think it would just be a matter of cutting some of the AP print module and pasting it in the cheque writing module. I can't see why this would be a really big job for someone with familiarity. Anyone want to make some $$? Respond with a price. Jeff Roberts JR Electronics Jeff (at) JRElectronics (dot) ca |

This has been added in the next release, v2.8.7. The translation depends on the user's language preference. Hi, I have created a script with minimal possible perl code to help you easily create and integrate your own reports in sql-ledger. Anyone with some sql knowledge and with little or no perl knowledge can now create custom reports. Please download it free from http://ledger123.com/ Suggestions/bugs reports welcome. The backup file includes the complete database dump, including all charts. A pg_restore afaik will also delete all existing data before applying the backup. Also to me it doesn't seem right to restore a backup onto a new chart of accounts because transactions in the backup are linked to the accounts. I would concider to edit the accounts manually after applying the backup. martin On Monday 18 June 2007 17:05:36 Prem Pradeep wrote: > I restored a SL database but the chart of accounts seems to be the default > one, instead of the one I created before the backup. > What should I do? > > Thanks > Prem > ------------------------------------------------------------------------- > This SF.net email is sponsored by DB2 Express > Download DB2 Express C - the FREE version of DB2 express and take > control of your XML. In file SL/Form.pm line 126, if you change $str =~ s/%([0-9a-fA-Z]{2})/pack("c",hex($1))/eg; to $str =~ s/%([0-9a-fA-Z]{2})/pack("U",hex($1))/eg; It seems to work better if your data is in UTF8 form. ----- I see this change is already in the 'new' sql-ledger 2.8.5 in the download directory (along with many more changes!) |

I have been working with this problem too. I really only have one currency (EUR) for daily and bank transactions, but it would be nice to have reports in USD periodically. If you set up your system initially (admin.pl) with the two currencies, the first one listed will be the default. On an 'Add Transaction' form, there is a field for 'currency' which is filled in with the default. If you spin the popup to a different currency (one of those initially chosen in admin.pl), then the form is refreshed and you get an additional field which allows you to insert an exchange rate. Presumably, this field is also filled out with the current EXR if you implement an on-line exchange rate query. The Bank info form does not seem to have a currency selection field, and more importantly, the bank account form does not either. This seems to be where you are stuck. It might be good to have a 'default' currency selection for a bank account. Don't know what the unintended consequences would be though. What would be the right way of dealing with bank accounts in different currencies? In Angola we unfortunately have to deal with two currencies on a daily basis: Angolan Kwanzas (AKZ) and USD. Also banks, if you open an account, they'll give you two accounts by default. An invoice also can be in either currency and paid with another also by bank transfers. We'd like to migrate our SL system (currently only in USD) to multi-currency. First I am looking for a way to define a bank account to be a AKZ account. Then I'd like to be able to pay an invoice from one currency to another. Also very useful would be to be able to have GL-Accounts in different currencies, example would be water/lights which we would always pay in AKZ. Is there any way to do this, or financially speaking is there another way how to deal with this situation? We are using SL 2.8.5. Thanks, martin |

Thanks for the verification Bob I will look into it further and possibly upgrade to a newer version soon. Perhaps this will fix it for me :o) On 6/15/07, Bob Gustafson <bo...@rc...> wrote: > > Works for me. I=B4m running sql-ledger 2.8.5 on Firefox 2.0.0.4 on > Fedora7 > > Bob G Regards, Sean |

Yes, that particular link gives me a 404 (file does not exist) message when I click on it. However, putting 'DBD-Pg' into Google gives 2005,000 hits. The 3rd hit points to http://gborg.postgresql.org/project/dbdpg/projdisplay.php which looks promising. You can get the module from CPAN.
