Are we ready to release version 1.1.0 of Spring IDE? Btw. the list is so silent. Is everybody on vacation? Or is the list server not working? Cheers, Torsten? |

I added support for inner beans to the beans graph and fixed a bug with bend points in the reference connections. The stuff is available in CVS head. The update site http://springide-eclip.sourceforge.net/updatesite/ and the "internal" home page http://springide-eclip.sourceforge.net/ are up-to-date. So please take the chance and test the new version available on the update site (you have to delete the feature and the plugins of the old version first due to same version number). I'm keen to release the new version of Spring IDE asap :-) There are too many users complaining about missing support for inner beans and bugs with the validator :-( Cheers, Torsten |

Haris, Spring IDE was / is developed for Eclipse 2.x. But it runs on Eclipse 3.0 too. The "drop Eclipse 2 and port Eclipse 3" stuff was a general question to all if Spring IDE should start using Eclipse 3 specific features and ditch all the Spring IDE users who still have to live with Eclipse 2 only. Cheers, Torsten On 10.10.2004, at 02:46, snpe wrote: > Torsten, > I have eclipse 3.0.1 and don't use eclipse 2 > I don't understand what I need do > > regards > On Saturday 09 October 2004 09:52 pm, Torsten Juergeleit wrote: >> Haris, >> >> don't worry, this is an issue of Spring IDE's Eclipse 2 support. >> With Eclipse 3 it wouldn't be an issue anymore (see my previous mail). >> >> Maybe we should drop Eclipse 2 support and port Spring IDE to Eclipse >> 3. >> >> Cheers, >> Torsten >> >> >> On 10.10.2004, at 01:49, snpe wrote: >> >>> Torsten, >>> >>> On Saturday 09 October 2004 08:38 pm, Torsten Juergeleit wrote: >>>> I have to check MyEclipse's XML editor. I have success with key bindings too.
I change methods :
org.springframework.ide.eclipse.beans.ui.actions.ShowInView#setActiveEditor(IAction action, IEditorPart editor)
and
org.springframework.ide.eclipse.beans.ui.actions.OpenJavaType#setActiveEditor(IAction action, IEditorPart editor)
to :
public void setActiveEditor(IAction action, IEditorPart editor) {
if (editor instanceof ITextEditor) {
this.editor = (ITextEditor) editor;
this.file = BeansUIUtils.getConfigFile(editor);
} else if (editor instanceof XMLMultiPageEditorPart) {
XMLMultiPageEditorPart multiEditor = (XMLMultiPageEditorPart) editor;
this.editor = multiEditor.getTextEditor();
this.file = BeansUIUtils.getConfigFile(this.editor);
} else {
this.editor = null;
this.file = null;
}
// Disable action if not a Spring config file is currently edited
action.setEnabled(this.file != null);
}
and all is fine, now
I don't know what about adding two plugins from webtools - it is problem, maybe, but spring ide is great for me now
Best regards

I am wrong . It is multipage editor and I try next :
method org.springframework.ide.eclipse.beans.ui.BeansUIUtils#openInEditor(IFile file, int line)
public static IEditorPart openInEditor(IFile file, int line) {
IEditorInput input = new FileEditorInput(file);
IEditorPart editPart = openInEditor(input);
if (editPart != null) {
if (line != -1) {
// go to specified line
AbstractTextEditor editor;
if (editPart instanceof AbstractTextEditor) {
editor = (AbstractTextEditor) editPart;
} else if (editPart instanceof XMLMultiPageEditorPart) {
XMLMultiPageEditorPart multiEditor = (XMLMultiPageEditorPart) editPart;
editor = multiEditor.getTextEditor();
} else
return editPart;
IDocument doc = editor.getDocumentProvider().getDocument(input);
if (doc != null) {
try {
int start = doc.getLineOffset(line - 1);
editor.selectAndReveal(start, 0);
} catch (BadLocationException e) {
BeansUIPlugin.log(e);
}
}
}
}
return editPart;
}
and key binding with scope "com.ibm.sse.edit.ui.structuredTextEditorScope", probably
I don't success set key binding - is enough change binding in plugin.xml ?
It work fine for me, but we have two webtools (myeclipse) plugins com.ibm.xmleditor and com.ibm.sse.editor

Haris, don't worry, this is an issue of Spring IDE's Eclipse 2 support. With Eclipse 3 it wouldn't be an issue anymore (see my previous mail). Maybe we should drop Eclipse 2 support and port Spring IDE to Eclipse 3. I took a first glance on the MyEclipseIDE XML editor issue: This editor is a multipage editor which does not inherit from Eclipse's AbstractTextEditor (like e.g. XmlBuddy does). So it does not leverage the additional context menu entries or keybindings which Spring IDE added to AbstractTextEditor. Spring IDE is not able to navigate to the line number of the bean definition because this feature depends on AbstractTextEditor too. We have to port Spring IDE to Eclipse 3.0 to support navigation to the bean definition. It's very easy, we can use IDE.openInEditor() with an instance of IMarker holding the corresponding line number. Sorry, no solution to this right now. Cheers, Torsten On 09.10.2004, at 06:22, snpe wrote: > Torsten, > I build plugin from CVS HEAD (with plugin dependency problems) > It is very good now, but problem 2 is partial resolved > It is fine when I open config file in text editor, but I have xml > editor from myeclipse > (patched ibm webtools xml editor) - when I set this editor default > then select bean in beans view show begin of file always (text editor > go to bean declaration ) > error markers work fine now (with text and xml editor) > Can I use another xml editor and which ? > > Thanks > On Saturday 09 October 2004 12:05 am, Torsten Juergeleit wrote: >> Haris, >> >> thank you for spotting these bugs. >> >> I fixed both and updated the plugin's update site with a new version. >> The version number of the feature and the plugins stayed the same. I have to check MyEclipse's XML editor. I'm using XmlBuddy (http://xmlbuddy.com/). With XmlBuddy Spring IDE is working like a charm. Btw. are the keybindings Alt+Ctrl+T and Alt+Ctrl+V for Spring IDE's text editor context menu entries working with MyEclipse's XML editor? Yes, that's an issue with Eclipse 3 and plugins which are still compatible with Eclipse 2. PDE seems to be able to update a plugin's classpath automatically only if it's a Eclipse 3 plugin. Sorry, you have to add the missing plugin to the project's build path manually. Torsten, I build plugin from CVS HEAD (with plugin dependency problems) It is very good now, but problem 2 is partial resolved It is fine when I open config file in text editor, but I have xml editor from myeclipse (patched ibm webtools xml editor) - when I set this editor default then select bean in beans view show begin of file always (text editor go to bean declaration ) error markers work fine now (with text and xml editor) Can I use another xml editor and which ? Haris, thank you for spotting these bugs. I fixed both and updated the plugin's update site with a new version. The version number of the feature and the plugins stayed the same. So you have to delete the feature and the plugins from your Eclipse installation directory first before you can download the new version via Eclipse's update manager. Or you can build the updated plugins from CVS head. I prepared an update site from the current CVS head and uploaded it to the project's web site. The URL for Eclipse's update manager is http://springide-eclip.sourceforge.net/updatesite/ Maybe you can give it a try. Cheers, Torsten |

After some struggle I got my access to your =96 and from now on - my dev-list :-) =20 I=92m really looking forward to work with you in a team so that = springtide will be a great success. =20 I had a call this morning with Torsten =96 who is just some kilometres away from my working place. I think this will greatly influence our work. =20 I will start to create some additional plugins: =20 - launch and launch.ui which will automatically execute a bean - core and core.ui which will create a Spring project having some templates like web / persistence / etc. so that you have a working app in minutes - server and server.ui which will launch a =93container =96 = server=94 which is stoppable, startable etc. This will be very =93experimental=94 =20 Ok =96 and finally I will do some testing with the current plugin. =20 That=92s all for now. =20 All the best =20 =20 Andreas=20 --- Outgoing mail is certified Virus Free. Agree this is a problem, but I don't see how it explains the test failures I've seen with the validation tests. Sometimes the test will fail because it gets find no error markers. The error markers are added to the file by the autobuild thread, so it should just be a matter of waiting for that thread to finish. > > The new version of BeansResourceChangeListener listens for > IResourceChangeEvent.POST_AUTO_BUILD events now. It's fine with me. I had a few ideas on new features to add, but some of them are on the list already, and many will be easier with the new model. But regarding the list of changes you posted in the spring forums -- the internal changes to the model don't directly mean anything to users. I added the missing 'project.waitForAutoBuild()' after 'BeansCoreUtils.removeProjectNature()' in NatureTest. This is necessary because the model is updated asynchronously via org.springframework.ide.eclipse.beans.core.internal.model.resources.Bean sResourceChangeListener after the workspace has finished it's autobuild. I'm looking into why the wait for autobuild isn't sufficient to > prevent unpredictable results for the validation tests The old version of BeansResourceChangeListener listened to IResourceChangeEvent.POST_CHANGE events. These are sent during (and not after finishing) the autobuild. This is to early for us because the workspace tree is still locked and we are not allowed to manipulate problem marker yet. The new version of BeansResourceChangeListener listens for IResourceChangeEvent.POST_AUTO_BUILD events now. Additionally it looks for modified Java source files which contains Java types which are used as bean classes. For any modified bean class's Java type the corresponding BeansConfigs are automatically re-validated. This implements the feature request from JIRA issue #IDE-21.
