Hi all, I noticed in 1.1 the JMS listener classes were removed from the original sandbox code. Is there another way to register a bean as a JMS listener? This is a bit of functionality that's actually quite useful for us. Is there a plan to add this back in or reimplement it? Thanks, Rong |

What's the best way to submit them? > > Can you email me a patch file and a description of the changes? > I've actually raised an issue in JIRA for this (I've included a port of the MVC tutorial code, and that got a big big for email): http://opensource.atlassian.com/projects/spring/browse/SPR-317 Description of Patch (http://opensource.atlassian.com/projects/spring/secure/attachment/10209/Por tletSupportPatch.txt) starting at the top: PortletRequestParameterPropertyValues.java: Modified the PortletRequestParameterPropertyValues(PortletRequest request) constructor to work by calling super(request.getParameterMap()); Previously it called another constructor which had all its code commented out. DispatcherPortlet.java: add DispatcherServlet.WEB_APPLICATION_CONTEXT_ATTRIBUTE and DispatcherServlet.THEME_RESOLVER_ATTRIBUTE as request attributes. DispatcherServlet.THEME_RESOLVER_ATTRIBUTE currently is just a FixedThemeResolver. FrameworkPortlet.java: Sets the ServletContext on the PortletApplicationContext PortletApplicationContext.java: now extends WebApplicationContext, and has setServletContext and getServletContext methods XmlPortletApplicationContext.java: added get/set Theme and ServletContext methods. SimplePortletFormController.java: New class. This is similar to the web SimpleFormController. It has a list of TODOs at the top - mostly relating to functionality that is missing compared to SimpleFormController, and to a lack of extensibility. TomcatViewRendererServlet.java: Extends ViewRendererServlet and implements doPost (which it passes to the doGet method). This is to work around the issue when redirecting from a POST'ed request to a Servlet which only implements doGet. (You should get a method not supported error, but due to the wrapped ServletRequest from the Portlet you'll get a NPE instead). Let me know if there is anything that needs fixing. I hope this will be useful! Nick |

Hi all, I would like to know whether the dao variants have reached the ldap domain. I mean, there is much work done for jdbc, ibatis, hibernate but I don't recall anything about ldap on the source tree. Is it a philosophical/technique choice or just a lack of will/time to do so ? In the later case, I'd be glad to attempt to provide a high level piece of code leveraving jndi to access ldap in a way similar (in term of ease) as jdbc. Regards Olivier Jolly |

I can personally confirm that thee were issues with Oracle 8.1.7 and older JDBC drivers (the ones that shipped with it, or updates shortly after that Oracle version). Spring's code could not even work with these drivers since they didn't have some of the methods that Spring looks up and uses (by reflection). Unfortunately I was not able to use the newer (9i and 10i) drivers since that app also used OSWorkflow, EJB version, and JBoss CMP blows up with Oracle 8i with the newer drivers. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Thomas Risberg" <tho...@tr...> To: <spr...@li...> Sent: Monday, September 06, 2004 8:38 AM Subject: Re: [Springframework-developer] Oracle 8 and OracleLobHandler > Mike, > > Do you mean 8 (8.0.x) or 8i (8.1.x). Alexey, JMX support is a major part of what is being worked on for the 1.2 release of Spring. You can already find a substantial amount of code for the JMX support in the Spring CVS repository under the sandbox folder. Hi,
I want to have a pattern howto get/set the state of an
object with spring __after__ the application context
is set. So usually when object lives in some statefull
session and a user is known.
There should be at least a "store properties from user
context" and a "restore properties of user context"
use case.
Spring should be able to retrieve properties from some
form of a repository ( typesave of course :-) and put
properties, identified by property name, into a
repository.
Is there allready a solution or do have someone an
idea how to solve such a requirement with spring?
Regards
A. Rudolf

Currently autodetect in Spring's jta proxy is very confusing.
Developer *have* to pass user transaction and proxy "autodetect" that it
is not just user transaction has been passed. Doesn't make sencefor me.
I do understand how it came to the current state, but it is
fundamentally wrong and really confusing, especially for new Spring
users or those who not much familiar with JTA.

Unfortunately, currently it is not just different properties, but
entirely different XML fragments (1 or 2 spring beans, depends from server).

As far as I know you alredy doing version detection for Websphere, so
I don't see any reason to generalize it and make JTA-related access the
same for any container. This way you will really simplify usage of tx
manager, but you'll have to take responsibility that it will work in any
container.

Mike, Do you mean 8 (8.0.x) or 8i (8.1.x). Oracle 8 is really ancient and as far as I know, we have not done any testing against this version. It's not available for download, so it's hard to test against :) I've tested against 8i using 9i/10g drivers and everything I have tried works well. Most issues would be more related to the version of the driver and not so much the actual version of the database server. The drivers are supposed to be backwards compatible. Do you know what driver version they used? Thomas Mike Cannon-Brookes wrote: >Hey guys, > >We have some users reporting problems with Spring's OracleLobHandler >combined with Oracle 8. I've managed to get the Spring taglibs working with portlets. I've got some work to do still on making my changes somewhat less brutally hackish, but after that I'd like to try and get them re-integrated. The patches for this aren't trivial (although they are confined to the sandbox). What's the best way to submit them? Nick |
