Andrew Sumner

A former TORCS Racing Board competitor, and also one of the AI developers for Speed Dreams. He comes from Australia and has created all of the 3D models for the cars, except for the TRB1 class. His main task is AI development (the USR robot) and bringing in new car models for Haruna Say to experiment and eventually make full carsets out of. He also created many of the tracks used in Speed Dreams, including Espie (based on TORCS's e-track-6), Inuksuk, Corkscrew, Street-1, Brondehach, Karwada, Dirt-3 and Ruudskogen. Andrew is also the only Australian member of the Speed Dreams development team, which probably explains why he never attends developer meetings.

Trivia

  • Like how Haruna is always sticking in references to Japanese anime, Andrew likes to stick in western movie and TV show references here and there, which is evident in his AI codebase name, USR.
  • Even though Haruna is commonly credited to the creation of the LS-GT1 carset, it was actually Andrew who first created the carset, although it was never made public until Haruna finished up what are now the LS-GT1 cars.
  • With the exception of the TRB1 class of cars, pretty much every car model is made by him.
  • Andrew shows up as an opponent in the TRB1 class of cars, but is ironically a Simplix-based driver rather than a USR-based one.
