If you don't mind, I'd prefer to finally issue our next pre-release ... hmmm .. not right now, but on Sunday 25th of September. (I believe I'll find enough time in this particular week-end). And if no one minds, I propose to name it "beta 1", meaning that we are now freezing the feature list, and will only : - fix bugs, - finish current setup tasks, - go on with artwork improvements (cars / tracks) up to the final 2.0. Of course, the door is not completely closed ... we might discuss of some _small_ exceptions to this rule if needed. Is it OK for all of you (no more features) ? Cheers, Jean-Philippe. |

Hi JP, sounds great. Even now i have checked in the missing driver skins for SC LYNX. Two questions: 1: Should i check in my menu rework i did so far? There are minor problems with combo boxes. 2: Can we fix the reflection map wheel problem before releasing a beta? Cheers Eckhard. Hey, everyone. The Windows binary packages for 2.0.0 Beta 1 are now ready for download at SF.net ... Please test quickly :-) (beware, I didn't not remove the Alpha 3 ones for the moment). The source package will come in the next days, be patient. Can we wait for some days (testing) before shouting it over the world ? Known issues : - the Charmey track lacks some textures, making the track all white :-( - the Career mode works only after installing at least the "more cars & tracks" package, if not the "wip" one (don't know why, may be because it doesn't check for tracks before selecting and using them, and has no fall-back strategy ? or something else ...) Once the beta is out I'm guessing that we should have a run through all bugs on Trac, flag those which are relivant to SD2.0 and then focus on 'squashing' them..... Simon. |

Well, no, IMHO. Only minor / no risks bug fixes / improvements. Yes, of course I left the Alpha 3 packages as long as we are not sure that the Beta 1 ones are the ones (oh ... nice sentence, isn't it ;-) (I also have a rural internet connexion, so don't want to upload them again) As for the prominant 'try the 2.0 beta' link, yes this Beta 1 deserves it on our web site and twitter page. On our SF.net project page, no room for such customization ... but the standard "Download" button already proposes the default package for your platform, that is our base Windows binary package for 2.0.0 Beta 1 if you are browsing from Windows (I set this default at 9:00 in the morning). The only improvement I can imagine (for the next beta or final) is renaming the packages to something shorter, in order the Download button shows its name all (may be like sd-base-2.0.0-b1-setup32.exe ?)
