The executable should 'look for' the required files/libs in the places where they are located in the source releases/svn. This would allow quicker testing when re-compiling (after making changes for example). Because we have a feature freeze for 1.4, I think this is not an option. For 2.0 this is different. In 2.0 we have CMake and CMake supports relinking before installing. This means that src/linux/speed-dreams can be linked to local libraries. So if the paths (for libraries to dlopen and for data) are found correctly, then I think this is possible. To find the correct paths, I think we need to change the filename in src/linux (but make it speed-dreams after installing) and use argv[0] to find out if it is runned local or not. Maybe there are more subtile methods to find this out. If we know that it runs local, we can use different default paths. The second problem is that the /data directory is different then share/games/speed-dreams. Hi, Wolf-Dieter. May be I was not clear about what I plan to do : about robots data, I _only_ plan to change the source tree to make it look like the install tree. I don't plan to change the robot data _install_ tree at all (will remain <install>/data/drivers/<robot>/... under Windows, as an example). Neither the robot data tree under the user settings folder. Sorry, what I understood was to change the install tree to match the source tree (LoL). (At the moment the omnipotent robots do not allow to have the same structure as the other robots in the source tree, but have the same structure at the install tree. The reason to do it this way was to get it work for CMake, compile once, but copy to different targets. If we can do it in another way, this is OK). Cheers Wolf-Dieter |

I don't plan to change this "1 source, many DLLs" scheme at all (this is another story) ; only the place where source data files for robots are stored in the SVN tree. This means something like moving src/drivers/simplix/simplix_* to data/drivers/simplix/simplix_* in the SVN source tree, but keeping src/drivers/simplix/src where it is.
