Hello, Neerja. The SourceForge download screen is often confusing and hard to deal with. SourceForge is the site that hosts the SourceJammer project. There is nothing to buy. Just click the radio button next to the mirror site that is closest to you and SJ should start to download. If that doesn't work, click on the link that appears at the top of the page after you select a mirror. Keep playing around with it. You'll figure it out. I've never written up a doc that compares SJ to there source control systems, so I don't have anything to share. It should be possible to use SJ on an AS 400. As long as there's a Java installation for the platform, and a servlet container (such as tomcat or WebLogic) that will run on that platform, SourceJammer will run there. Thanks. --Rob --- neeraj sharma <nee...@re...> wrote: > > Hi Robert, > > I have few following queries regarding SourceJammer CM tool. Hi, Micky. Are you referring to the 2.1.2.0 beta release? I guess I was planning on releasing a source code file when I finally got around to making an official release. Is there any way to monitor server activity such that I can determine if a user is currently in the process of checking in/out or getting files from the server? This way if I need to perform system maintainence that requires me to stop the server, I can make sure no one will be interrupted in the middle of a job. thanks, brenda |

If all else fails, you can modify the .sja file. Make sure that you stop your SJ server first. Then open up the appropri= ate .sja file in the server's filesys directory. If it does not have a <users> section, add = one. Inside the <users> section, add a <userName> for each user you want to add to the archive.= The end result will look something like this: <user> <userName>joeuser</userName> <userName>janeuser</userName> </user> Be sure to back up the .sja file in case you mess something up. Hi, Mike. My guess is these are configured in the SourceJammer file types to be hidden. Go to View|Preferences and click on the File Types tab. Look in the botton field, labeled Ignore (hidden) local files. This is a list of extensions that SJ hides from you when they only occur on your local drive. Probably project and classpath are in the list. They may be there by default in the latest version of SJ you downloaded. Just delete them from the list and your problem should go away. Thanks. --Rob --- mw...@hu... wrote: > Hello - > > I've been using - and liking - SourceJammer for several years, but have never > seen this before. > > _Some_ hidden files are not showing up in the file list. > > For example, I've created a new Eclipse project that creates hidden files > (.project, .classpath, .tapestryplugin). Hello - I've been using - and liking - SourceJammer for several years, but have never seen this before. _Some_ hidden files are not showing up in the file list. For example, I've created a new Eclipse project that creates hidden files (.project, .classpath, .tapestryplugin). However, only the .tapestryplugin file is showing up in the SourceJammer browse window. The same is true of the 'Add files' window. I've checked permissions, and all three have identical privilege settings... I also created a .test file - which shows up (so I know I'm looking at the right directory :) And, I definitely have added the .project file to SJ archives before... It's standard operating procedure for me... Has anyone else seen anything like this? SJ version 2.1.0.0 client and server on Linux. Thanks a bunch. Mike |

I'm sorry about your problem, Luis, and I really don't know what might be causing it. If all else fails, you can modify the .sja file. Make sure that you stop your SJ server first. Then open up the appropriate .sja file in the server's filesys directory. If it does not have a <users> section, add one. Inside the <users> section, add a <userName> for each user you want to add to the archive. The end result will look something like this: <user> <userName>joeuser</userName> <userName>janeuser</userName> </user> Be sure to back up the .sja file in case you mess something up. The restart the SJ server and see if everything worked. Good luck. Let me know if this helps. --Rob --- Luis Castillo <lui...@ve...> wrote: > Hi Robert, > > Thanks for your answer!!! > > I already tried to restart the server but it doesn't work. Hi, Luis. I don't have any obvious ideas except to try to restart the SourceJammer server and see if the problem goes away. You say this happened when you tried to update a user. What did you try to do exactly? The stack trace seems to flow out of the getProjectInfo() method, which basically is the server-side method called when a the view of a folder in the SJ client is refreshed. Does this error leave you stuck in some way--unable to do something? Or did the error just happen once and allow you to get on with your work? Thanks. --Rob --- Luis Castillo <lui...@ve...> wrote: > > > Hi Robert, > > Trying to update an user in SourceJammer, the application throws the > following error: > > (Embedded image moved to file: pic15185.jpg) > > I've been checking the users archive and everything looks fine. Hi, Karthik. There is a pretty decent diff viewer built into the SJ client. It lets you diff any two versions of the same file, or diff the current version of a given file with any local file on your system. It only works for text files. No support for diffing Word docs or anything like that. Thanks. --Rob --- "NAGESAN Karthik (AXA-L)" <Kar...@ax...> wrote: > Hi Rob, > > I know this ID must be flooded with such queries.. hope you > answer this one! > > > > We are an IT team working on the enhancement and support of the MoSes > actuarial package, and are in requirement of a Version Control tool > which is both free and easily manageable. This sounds like it's probably the same xalan versioning issue that everyone else has been having lately with TC 5. You could check the server side TC log to verify this. If it says something about "Exception in transforming XML", then this is your issue. To fix it, please refer to this message that Ramya has helpfully posted: http://www.mail-archive.com/sou...@li.../msg00539.html If that's not your issue, please let me know what you find in the log and I can help you get to the bottom of it. This seems to be the same issue as the following: http://www.mail-archive.com/sou...@li.../msg00420.html Unfortunately, there's no resolution posted in the user list archive. By guess is that there's an incompatability involving the version of xerces used by TC 5.5 and SJ. SJ seems to be burying part of the stacktrace, which is not helpful. This doc from the Tomcat site might be helpful: http://tomcat.apache.org/tomcat-4.1-doc/class-loader-howto.html#XML%20Parsers%20and%20JDK%201.4 --Rob --- Jean du Plessis <je...@iv...> wrote: > Hi I installed the SourceJammer server on Fedora Core release 4 with tomcat > 5.5 and j2sdk1.4.2_10. > > When I try to make an archive I get the exeption listed below. > > The server is runnning and this was a fresh install of the server (no > previous sourcejammer). > > Any help would be appreciated. > > > > Regards > > Jean > > > > :: started session 8082755470972228667 for admin > > org.sourcejammer.project.model.FileAccessException: Trouble with file > system. I have been attempting to make a new archive using the default user and password of admin. When I click "Make" I get an error saying "Error: null". If I attempt to make a new archive again after Oking the previous error, I get the "user does not exist" error. I am using Tomcat 5.0 and have attempted restarting the server several times as well as restarting my machine. I am not sure where to go from here. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. Hello. You have to restart the applicacion server where SJ is running. And ow = do you do that? Well, it depends on what AS you are using (Tomcat, etc.) = and what operationg server. For Tomcat not running as a service, you = should be able to use the shutdown scripts under TOMCAT_DIR/bin.
