Hi I installed the SourceJammer server on Fedora Core release 4 with tomcat 5.5 and j2sdk1.4.2_10. When I try to make an archive I get the exeption listed below. The server is runnning and this was a fresh install of the server (no previous sourcejammer). Any help would be appreciated. Hi Rob, I'm working on the SJ plugin. By the time the next version of Eclipse comes out, SourceJammer should = be ready for it. Will let you know as soon as I have a decent update. And yes, the API has changed apparently. When I ported the SJ plugin code into Eclipse 3.2 M3, I'm getting a lot = of deprecated class notifications. Happy Holidays! - Karan -----Original Message----- From: Robert MacGrogan [mailto:rob...@ya...] Sent: Monday, December 05, 2005 7:33 PM To: Gupta, Karan; SourceJammer Users Subject: RE: SJ Eclipse plugin Hi agaih. I couldn't be happier to have you fix and or enhance (dare I hope?) the = SJ Eclipse plugin. I don't know what would cause InvocationTargetException. A full stacktrace would = be helpful, if it would be possible to get that somehow. I have not tested the plugin under 3.1.1, but I'm running it under 3.1.0 = with no problems. Would they really change the plugin API in a x.x.1 release is such a way as to = break plugins? Maybe. I don't really have time right now to dig into this, but I'd love to = have you see if you can fix it. Any other enhancements you'd like to make would be welcome. I'd be = happy to give you access to the archive and to set you up as an admin on the sjextensions project if = you want to do releases. I looked at the code and I don't think that the "/" relative path should = be a problem after all. It would be nice if I had set up the plugin to use log4j or something to = make debugging easier. Live and learn. One thing you could try is to run the plugin project in Ecliplse in = debug mode to see if that helps you narrow down the source of the problem. Glad you got this fixed, Brenda. Recursive checkin/checkout is available in the latest client release. I've been lazy, though, and I don't think there's a link on the download page. Thanks Rob. I guess I should get more sleep -- the url was incorrect. Everything is working fine. btw -- this seems like a really nice solution for us. I've been working with it locally now for awhile and intend to get our whole group on it shortly. Nice Job! Any plans on developing the ability for recursive checkin / checkout (this is the only real limitation i see for our needs)? I found my problem -- needed to add the sourcejammer path to the workers2.properties apache file (duh). But I am still having trouble. Now I can connect and run sourcejammer from the apache server -- and run any other jsp apps (in the tomcat sample-apps directory). However, remotely, I cannot run sourcejammer -- but I can run any other jsp apps. I get the following errors: SourceJammer is having trouble communicating with the server. and then... SourceJammer is having trouble communicating with the server. The server URL you set in the connection definition does not appear to be a SourceJammer/SOAP server. Please check the URL and try connecting again. Any idea why I can connect locally without getting this message (and can connect remotely to other apps -- just not sourcejammer)?? I'm afraid there's really nothing more I can tell you. SourceJammer does not require any special configuration for this. Did you restart httpd? That's the only thing I can think of. I am relatively new to this kind of configuration -- so I apologize in advance if I am not making sense... I did configure httpd.conf and mod_jk.conf in order to establish the connection between apache and tomcat. I can now run any of the sample apps included in the default tomcat installation. However, the sourcejammer app does not run from apache ???? Is there additional configuration needed? Maybe the sample apps included with Tomcat are already pre-configured to run with Apache in some way?? Hi, Brenda. Configuring sourcejammer to run in Tomcat to be accessed via Apache httpd should be no different than for any other jsp app running under tomcat. Just configure your httpd.conf file or mod_jk.conf file as you did for your other apps. Also, there's no requirement that sourcejammer be run in the default TC context under the webapps directory. You could run it as a stand-alone TC app with it's own start and stop scripts. This is how I run http://dev.sourcejammer.org --Rob --- Brenda Koch-Bakke <bko...@ya...> wrote: > I have tomcat installed and working with sourcejammer > connecting to it (at > localhost:8080/sourcejammer/servlet/rpcrouter) and > running fine. > > However, I also run Apache on this machine which has > been configured to communicate to tomcat and runs > other web apps successful but not sourcejammer (at > localhost/sourcejammer/servlet/rpcrouter). > > Is there no way to have sourcejammer start from an > apache server request like other jsp apps?? > > Thanks in advance for any suggestions. > > Brenda > > > ------------------------------------------------------- > This SF.net email is sponsored by: Splunk Inc. I have tomcat installed and working with sourcejammer connecting to it (at localhost:8080/sourcejammer/servlet/rpcrouter) and running fine. However, I also run Apache on this machine which has been configured to communicate to tomcat and runs other web apps successful but not sourcejammer (at localhost/sourcejammer/servlet/rpcrouter). Is there no way to have sourcejammer start from an apache server request like other jsp apps?? Thanks in advance for any suggestions. Brenda |

Hi agaih. I couldn't be happier to have you fix and or enhance (dare I hope?) the SJ Eclipse plugin. I don't know what would cause InvocationTargetException. A full stacktrace would be helpful, if it would be possible to get that somehow. I have not tested the plugin under 3.1.1, but I'm running it under 3.1.0 with no problems. Would they really change the plugin API in a x.x.1 release is such a way as to break plugins? Maybe. I don't really have time right now to dig into this, but I'd love to have you see if you can fix it. Any other enhancements you'd like to make would be welcome. I'd be happy to give you access to the archive and to set you up as an admin on the sjextensions project if you want to do releases. I looked at the code and I don't think that the "/" relative path should be a problem after all. It would be nice if I had set up the plugin to use log4j or something to make debugging easier. Live and learn. One thing you could try is to run the plugin project in Ecliplse in debug mode to see if that helps you narrow down the source of the problem. Keep me posted and let me know how I can help. --Rob PS: You might want to subscribe to either the users or devel lists so you can post your messages there. --- "Gupta, Karan" <kar...@tr...> wrote: > Hi Rob, > > I just spoke to my boss about the plugin you've built and he's expressed an interest in > making a contribution to your project. Hi, Karan. So the root of your SJ archive is also the root of your Eclipse project? In that case, "/" seems logical, but this is not something I tested, so I'm not sure it will work. Would it be possible for you to move all of your SJ files to a new top level folder? Something like dev or project or anything really. You could do this just for testing purposes to at least verify what the problem is. Then you'd set up the relative path to be "/dev/" As for compiling, there should be a build.properties and build.xml in the SJ eclipse source tree here: http://dev.sourcejammer.org/BrowseArchive?Command=open_archive&archive_name=SourceJammer You need to browse down into extensions/sjeclipse. --Rob --- "Gupta, Karan" <kar...@tr...> wrote: > Hi Rob, > > Sorry I am sending this to your personal email account. > But this issue has me totally dumbfounded (now we know where that word can be used :-). > And I didn't know where to turn to for help. > I've been going thru the sourcecode, and seems like I'm the first guy to post something about > the plugin in the forums. > > Anyway, so I downloaded the SJ Eclipse plugin (great idea, btw) and am trying to get it to work > for my archive and project. > Here's the scenario: > > Eclipse project layout: > I'm using Eclipse 3.1.1. > C:\EclipseWSs\the_workspace > C:\EclipseWSs\the_workspace\the_project > C:\EclipseWSs\the_workspace\the_project\src > C:\EclipseWSs\the_workspace\the_project\properties > C:\EclipseWSs\the_workspace\the_project\docs > C:\EclipseWSs\the_workspace\the_project\DB > C:\EclipseWSs\the_workspace\the_project\libCompile > C:\EclipseWSs\the_workspace\the_project\libRuntime > ....... > and so on.. > > Now my archive completely follows the tree I have in eclipse. > That means, ALL the directories and files under directory "the_project" are in my archive (not > just src or docs etc). > > Archive setup: > Archive name: the_project > - the_project > --- src > --- properties > --- docs > --- DB > --- libCompile > --- libRuntime > ... and so on... > > I have set the SJ Eclipse properties in Project Properties: > Server URL: http://fmms-internal1:8090/sourcejammer/servlet/rpcrouter > Archive name: the_project > Relative Path: this is where the problem is. > I have tried everythign I could think of: "/", "/../", "/docs/../", "the_project/", > "/the_project", "/the_project/", "/ etc...but nothing seems to work. > I looked through the source code and found this guy: > private static String buildSJPathFromIPath(IPath path, SJEclipseProjectProperties props){ > //Build the full SJ path. > StringBuffer str = new StringBuffer(); > str.append(props.getRelativePath()); > str.append(path.toString()); > String sjPath = str.toString(); > System.out.println(sjPath); > return sjPath; > } > > "The Relative Path setting must be the path in your SourceJammer archive to the SJ folder that > corresponds to the root of your Eclipse directory. > This path must begin and end with a forward slash (/) character." > In my SJ tree the SJ folder which is the root of my Eclipse directory is / (isn't it??). > I am unable to use the plugin, bcoz I keep getting either Exceptions or errors: > java.lang.reflect.InvocationTargetException > or > Error: This project does not contain a child with the name: the_project. Hi, SJ add the files into the archive using the current date but I would like t= o use the original file "Last Modified Date". Can anyone help to advise how this is possible? Same goes to "Get File" if the file does not exist in the local directory. Thanks alot in advance! Warm regards Eric Lim |

I think this message explains the solution to your problem. John, Did you read the doc here that explains how to do this: http://www.sourcejammer.org/importExportArchive.html I think the step you missed was adding an archive with the same name as the archive you want to copy to your new server. This is a goofy process, but if you do this, it will work. Also, not mentioned in the doc, is the fact that you have to re-create all of your users on the new server. Or you could copy the users.xml from your old server into place on your new server. Good luck. --Rob --- Albert Moliner <amo...@ev...> wrote: > Oh, yes, I was wrongly assuming that you were copying all the server files, > including the users.xml. > > The files must be writable by the user that runs tomcat (or the app. server you > use). Hi, Kevin. I thought this problem was fixed in the latest client. Well, regardless, you could probably fix this in the xml project metadata file on the server. Take a look a this doc: http://www.sourcejammer.org/docAboutServerFiles.html This should help you figure out how to find the file you need to modify. Once you've changed the file, restart the SJ server. --Rob --- Kev...@re... wrote: > Hello Robert, > > A developer here changed the name of a dir to have parenthesis in the > name. Oh, yes, I was wrongly assuming that you were copying all the server files, including the users.xml. The files must be writable by the user that runs tomcat (or the app. server you use). New files will be created by him, so I'd assign to him the existing ones as well, to avoid confusions caused by having different owners for different files. Therefore, the group would be irrelevant. I would, as a general rule, avoid running the server under the root user, but that's up to you. The only important thing is that it is always started by the same user, and that all the files belong to him. Albert. ----- Original Message ----- From: "John F.
