Rob: Thanks for the information. I did untar the client download in a clean area, change the LAF in the clientconf.xml file then start the gui up but still get the error. The java managed user preference file? Is it in the sourcejammer directory? Thanks! Hey Rob! Thanks for the help. I'm using the client-2.1.0.0 download. It might not be THAT easy for me to modify the LAF in the config file - I'm pretty dumb! :-) I have, however tried to look through what comes in the tar file and I see this line in the clientconf.xml file: <InitialLookAndFeel>kunststoff</InitialLookAndFeel> But when I cancel past the error message and splash screen and actually look at what's in the preferences the Look and Feel is defaulted in the app to "windows". Changing this takes care of the error at start up. But if I change the LAF in the clientconf.xml file to something like "metal" and look at the preferences in the app there is no change - it still says kunststoff. On my windows box - the clientconf.xml file comes with "windows". I can change the LAF in the clientconf to "metal" and look at the preferences and it still says "windows". I hope all this info helps some. Maybe I'm using clientconf when I should be using just conf but I can see both are being used at startup. Thanks again! (and sorry! I'm sending this email from my Windows box and I've been told my mail client puts some extra junk on it so I apologize up front - it's not a virus - just some lame attempts at adding pictures) Ronni Robert MacGrogan <rob...@ya...> 05/12/2005 10:04 AM To Veronica L Bounmixay <Ver...@in...>, sou...@li... cc Subject Re: [SourceJammer-users] Default Look and Feel Causing Errors on Start up Hi, Veronica. SJ only supports the single checkout model. One big advantage over VSS is speed for any users who are not directly connected to your network. I also believe SJ is more stable than VSS and all data is stored in plain text files, so if there is a problem, it is always possible to fix the data. I also think the SJ gui is pretty good compared to other systems. > · Can I get any comparison document of sourcejammer with VSS and CVS? > Haven't written anything like that. The doc means admin on your SJ server. If you cant log in with admin/admin and you really cant find users.xml then something went wrong with your install. I need some advice on the look and feel default settings. The tar file is set to "windows" which causes and error on my Linux box. I have installed both the Windows and Linux versions exploring the differences to see if there is something missing. I can change the look and feel then the error goes away but I have a couple of Linux users that are going to install and I had hoped they could avoid the error since I am not certain how to explain the error and work around to them over the distance. Thank you! I really do appreciate the support? Ronni |

Though I don't have immediate access to SJ right now, Timo added that feature in the latest client. It's still in beta status, but you can download it from the Source Forge (don't be afraid by the beta label). Hello, is there a way to do a recursive Check Out and Check In of all files and subdirectories from a parent directory? I can only find options in the client to select multiple files in a single directory for Checking Out and In. I need to do a mass change for hundreds of JSPs in many subdirectories and I'd like to avoid manually going through every subdirectory. Thanks a lot. We've been using SJ at our shop for a while and it's been a great product. Sean |

Hi, James. This is definitely something I'll fix for the next release. This should probably be configurable or at least default to something that will be friendly to as many file types as possible. Perhaps a line of underscores? There's no way to configure this now, but it would be an easy change for you to make to the source and compile your own versrion of the server, if you know you're way around Java. The offending file is org.sourcejammer.server.keywords.KeywordTags, and the variable to change would be HIST_SEPARATOR. If you don't think you can make this modification yourself, let me know and I'll do it for you. Just let me know what version of SJ you are running. --Rob --- James Saffery <jam...@sw...> wrote: > Hi, > > We have been using SourceJammer happily now for over a year with very little > trouble. > > I would now like to start using keyword expansion with XML source files, but > have run into an issue with the History keyword: SJ delimits history entries > with a line of multiple dashes, however double dashes are not allowed in XML > comments. > > Is there a way of telling SourceJammer to use something other than a line of > dashes to delimit the history entries? > > I have been using trying to use the History keyword as follows: > > <!-- History: > $History: $ > --> > > Thank you. > > Regards, > > James > > > > James Saffery > Leading Analyst, Project Leader for Beringer Blass Software > Swisslog Australia Pty Limited > +61 2 9869 5929 direct > +61 2 9869 5900 office > +61 400 203 718 mobile > > > ____________________________________________________________ > This message may contain legally privileged or confidential > information and is therefore addressed to the named persons only. > The recipient should inform the sender and delete this message, > if he/she is not named as addressee. > The sender disclaims any and all liability for the integrity > and punctuality of this message. > The sender has activated an automatic virus scanning by > Messagelabs, but does not guarantee the virus free > transmission of this message. > > > ------------------------------------------------------- > SF.Net email is sponsored by: Tell us your software development plans! > Take this survey and enter to win a one-year sub to SourceForge.net > Plus IDC's 2005 look-ahead and a copy of this survey > Click here to start! http://www.idcswdc.com/cgi-bin/survey?id5hix > _______________________________________________ > SourceJammer-users mailing list > Sou...@li... > https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/sourcejammer-users > __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Thanks, Bruce. I'll consider your suggestion, but I'm not sure this is something I have control over. Hi, Tarik The only documentation is here: http://sjextensions.sourceforge.net/ I admit it is not very thorough. The 4th step is that you need to set up the SJ Eclipse properties for a project. Pull up the properties dialog for your Eclipse Project and you should see an SJ Eclipse section. The page I've linked to above describes what you need to do next. Let me know if you still have questions. Thanks. --Rob --- Tarik Choufa <tc...@fe...> wrote: > Hi, > First thank you for bringing us SJ plugin for eclipse it is really a > GOOD GOOD idea. > However, the documentation was a little bit missed. Hi, First thank you for bringing us SJ plugin for eclipse it is really a GOOD GOOD idea. However, the documentation was a little bit missed. I installed sj for eclipse and set the path to the client. But the part where I have a trouble to set the config for the project. Could please send more details: 1- I make the archive on the server 2- I installed a client on c:/sourcejammer/client 3- I installed sj in eclipse and set the path of the client (in preferences) 4- ??? Thanks a lot. /Tarik |

A removed file (or folder) can be restored. A removed file (or folder) can also be deleted, which will permanently remove it from the archive. Check out the discussion of this subject in the User's Guide under "Removing/Restoring." --Rob --- Kev...@re... wrote: > Rob, > > What is the difference between 'delete' and 'remove'? > > Thanks! > > Kevin Cloudt > 770-806-2648 > kev...@re... __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? The only directory SJ should have to write to is the sourcejammer/server directory. I really don't think there's anywhere else it needs access to. It's possible that there might be something somewhere that tries to write to the WEB-INF/conf directory, but I don't think I'm doing that anymore. You might want to make double sure that the server directory SJ is using is the one you think it is. Take a look at the serverconf.xml file in WEB-INF/conf. You should see an entry for <ServerDirectory> and also maybe <DefaultArchiveRoot> and maybe even <FileSysDirectory>. These will be the directories that SJ needs write access to. --Rob --- "B. Take a look at another open source project I developed. It's called SyncJammer and it's located here: http://syncjammer.sourceforge.net I use it to back up my SJ servers. OS : Fedora 3. I'm new to sourcejammer and I've just set up my first archive - all good = if I do it as admin. However, if I attempt add a file/folder then I keep = getting an error indicating that it is unable to access or save an XML = file because a "File or directory is read-only". I've ensured that the /usr/local/sourcejammer/server directory and below = in are owned by root with the group being sourcejammer. The files are = group writeable and the user is in the sourcejammer group. I'm unsure where the XML file resides or what I have to do to provide = access to all. At the moment only admin can do everything it wants to.=20 Help ?? Bruce. |

Hello Robert, thank's again for your support. You're right. Obviously there is a problem with the sj eclipse plugin 1.0.1 and Eclipse 3.0.0. I've had three independent Eclipse installations of that version, all failed with that plugin. Now I've migrated to Eclipse 3.0.2 and it works.
