The truth is that I don't remember much about when or why these things may happen. Once you get it running, you don't often deal with the instalation process. May it be that the SOAP calls are not ready in the server? All the administration (apart from the SOAP interfaces) is handable from the client, there's no other console for it. Sorry for not being able to help you much, I hope Rob can guess better than I do. The server have been rebooted several times, the app reinstalled several times, I find no menu for admin. Does the java source call any tomcat specific class ? (anyway there is no exception in resin log)... What should I see ? I think that in the old times this happened the first time, you needed to restart the server after the installation. Does it still happen after the reboot of resin? Hello. I am not Rob, bit I'll try to help a bit. If the problem is that someone is mischievingly modifying some files, = you should separate the server from the client. Having them on the same = machine is possible, but the "pirate" may change the files anywhere = unless you configure the file permissions with a lot of care (which is = more easily done in a Unix box than a Windows). If users can only access = the server via SJ (whatever its OS is), and each one has a private = password, you could know who has changed what by watching the file = history details. About the JRE/SDK versions, they must be explained somewhere, but 1.4.1 = should be alright for both, JRE in the clients and SDK in the server (to = run the Tomcat or application server). I haven't answer all your questions, but I hope that it's been useful to = consider having the server and clients in different computers, security = being an issue for you. Rob, I am currently working as a CADD Manager for a small Company in Abu Dhabi and recently have discovered anomalies in some documents (AUTOCAD drawings) where the current files are different to the last official issue to clients which could have serious consequences. This is not functinality currently built into the SJ client. It's something you could make it do, but you've have to be prepared to roll up your sleeves and do some coding. Take a look at the SJ client class "SimpleInterface." This has some methods that send a file to a stream, but I think even these stream the file to a temp file on the disk first. You'll have to actually create your own FileDownloaderProxy class to take SOAP attachments and dump them into a byte array instead of to the file system. Obviously it will be limited in features to those that are not direct applied to the local copy. That's it, I'am afraid. The '$' (at least, in folder names) are not =
supported by default.
I don't know if there's a work around for that, by configuring =
something, or they cannot be used. Hopefully, Rob or any other user will =
be able to help you better with it. Can't you live without those dollar =
signs?
Btw, won't it be easier for you to develop if the .class files are not =
in SJ? Its an annoyance to keep on checking them in & out, as what is =
important is the source code (you'll get the same .class if you compile =
the code).And if you want to keep release versioning, it's more usual to =
just keep the jar files. This is just a suggestion, although independent =
of the software you use as versioning tool.

The JRE that SJ uses to launch is controlled by the sourcejammer.properties file.
