#1581 Form text entered in Skim isn't reflected in other apps

I made some edits to text fields in a form, using Skim. When I opened the file in Apple Preview, the old text was shown. I then opened it in Safari, and again the old text was shown. Finally I tried Firefox, and got the same result.

If you open the attached PDF in Skim, you'll see different form text than you will in any other app.

Thanks for the reply. But there are a couple of problems here. First, the relevant information is buried as an offhand sentence under "Where are the notes and highlights stored?" which is not apparently related to form text at all.

But more importantly: The user has no way of knowing that the text he's filling out in a form is useless (and therefore wouldn't go hunting around for obscure remarks in the FAQ anyway). It's doubly baffling when , in Skim, you can select and "edit" text that other applications have populated the form with... only to find that this is a sham. Skim pretends that the text is changed, when in fact no other application recognizes it.

Therefore this is a bug. The solution is to

• Store the form text per the method used by other applications
  or
• Don't pretend to edit form text at all
