Hi there, I'm looking to use an old laptop (PII 333Mhz) solely to use seq24 (and mayb= e some minor web browsing). I'm not a Linux expert by any means so I would like to run a simple distro that wouldn't require much configuration to get seq24 up and running smooth and solid with a MIDISport 2x2 interface. I've tried the latest Ubuntu with Blackbox as a WM and I still get some MIDI hiccups. Could anyone recommend a distro that contains the packages seq24 needs to install, or one that would be the easiest to configure for seq24? Also I'd be curious to know what distros other seq24 users are using. CKM |

Not sure if anyone has noticed this, but on my machine, when I open some directories the file selection dialog won't show the sub-directories until you resize the file selection dialog. I don't know if this is just my version of gtkmm or what. I plan on migrating the code to use the new gtk file selection dialogs since I think the ones that seq24 is using are now depreciated anyways. In the meantime, if anyone has this problem, just resize the window. cheers Rob |

It would be nice, when hovering over the horizontal line that
represents a note, that the MIDI note number would be displayed.
A little yellow round box that would follow the mouse as you move over
the canvas would be nice;).
As mentioned in another post, it would be nice if the whole horizontal
line could change to a light color.

Would be nice if scrolling the canvas was supported. Normal vertical
scrolling and vertical scrolling for us with horizontal tilt wheel on
the mouse;).

It would be nice, when dragging a selection, that the window auto
scrolls when you drag out of the current frame.
Maybe an arrow on the window, like browsers got, when the list goes
past the screen. So, when hovering over this arrow, the window
scrolls.

Hi all. Does anyone else have a problem with the options not reloading properly? If I change the options for MIDI sync output ports and enabled MIDI inputs these aren't restored when I restart the program. Messages about reading and writing .seq24rc are sent to the console when I start and finish the program and I've got write permissions on that file. From looking at .seq24rc it looks like the changes are stored correctly so I guess the problem is when they're reloaded. Noticed this problem in 0.8.3 and 0.8.5. It's not a huge deal but if settings load themselves it's one less thing to do in the pre-gig panic :) Cheers. -- Jonny Music - http://jeremah.co.uk News - http://voxpolis.com |

It would be nice, when you hold the mouse pointer on a key on the
keyboard, the whole line would lit up, maybe flash, a light color.

It is not the window managers job to store window positions.

I think I presented my case incorrectly. Of course, "edit" should
bring put the window on top. I was thinking you meant that "edit"
would center on parent; meaning that it wouldn't remember window
position.
> I would click edit always with META down, so I can place main window

Not sure if I understand you correctly again. The idea with meta held
down was to close all other edit windows and open the edit window for
the box you clicked on. The edit window would then open and position
itself the place it was positioned by the user last time it was
closed.

Sorry if I explained wrong. The "edit" button should of course bring
the edit window to top. As I said above, I was thinking about center
on parent, which would mean it didn't remember its position.

Not sure what you mean, but you store them so that they appear the
same place when they are reopened.

I really dislike this idea;).
> I have the (bad?) habit of leaving all sequence windows open around
> the screen...
Yes, I never really close a window. A feature I've requested in om is
to be able to f.ex hold down META when you open properties for a
plugin; if META is down, then the editor will open for the current
box, but will close all other editor windows.
> it is a pain to find a sequence window (especially if all of them are

Each editor window should have it's own user configurable icon and be
nameable. The remaining windows, as I suggest, the main window, the
beat bar window and the song window should have their own icon set by
you. This way, finding your windows is left to the user.

I think would be more handy having windows bring to top, when user clicks edit from the sequence menu. I have the (bad?) habit of leaving all sequence windows open around the screen... so it is a pain to find a sequence window (especially if all of them are named 'Untitled'). |

It would be nice blablabla;). Sorry if I'm a pain;). Maybe there
should be a requested feature area to post requests.
It would be nice if the applications could remember it's window
position on all windows.

Ahhhh yes. You are correct. I guess I never noticed this.. The menus should pop up with a single click and not require the user to hold it down. I will change that.
