We can only help in such cases, if you provide way more information! SEB 2.2.2 generally works with macOS Big Sur 11.x, we didn't find any issues in our tests. So you have to provide a precise description what happens, screen shots, maybe a video, log files or a crash log in case SEB crashed. See https://safeexambrowser.org/support_en.html for the list if information we need.

    Hello,

    Sorry I understand.
    Please find some informations below.

When launching the dmg. an error message is displayed: see screenshot.

We tried to upload via the app store, but the software is blocked too. When you want to launch the software from the applications, an error message is displayed : see screenshot.

If you need more information, I can provide you a video of the bug.

Thank you in advance for your help,

I still don't get what the problem is, but my guess would be that you didn't copy the Safe Exam Browser app into the Applications folder. That's what that error message tries to explain. You can just drag the icon onto the Applications folder shortcut icon in the mounted dmg. That's a quite common way how to install macOS applications (some use installers, but that's usually not necessary and discouraged by Apple).

The Mac App Store version of SEB is old and doesn't run on current macOS versions.

At the University of Urbino we solved the problem generated by the latest Apple update with macOS 11, Big Sur and Safe Exam Browser.

We have created a button inside moodle that launches SEB, but when you press to launch SEB, only a black screen appears and nothing can be done.

To avoid the black screen with macOS Big Sur 11.x it is necessary that the button inside moodle is pressed from within SEB itself, and not from any browser. To do this it is necessary:

    1. close SEB, possibly forcing its closure, if the black screen appeared, start the SEB application directly from the computer (not by pressing the button)
    2. click Safe Exam Browser next to the apple and then click Preferences, then General
    3. enter the link to the start page in the START URL: https://blended.uniurb.it/seb (this is our link connected to the button)
    4. press RESTART and save the settings with Apply, so that SEB always opens on the start page
    5. from within SEB click the “Start Safe Exam Browser for macOS” button at the bottom of the page
    6. enter the seb password, then the University credentials to access the platform, and finally navigate to (the page that contains) the quiz

The issue when SEB 2.2.2 for macOS sometimes displayed a black screen instead of the browser window depending how it was started by opening settings should be fixed in SEB 2.3. Please test it with the release candidate version SEB 2.3RC for macOS (github.com). If our final testing is successful, we will release SEB 2.3 for macOS very soon.
