Under Linux, I had to set this: Options --> Moves --> Show Variation Arrows. Then, when coming to a variation, a window pops up and I can use the up-arrow or down-arrow keys to select a variation and press the Enter key. Hi All, In Scid Vs Mac whenever there is a choice between variations (i.e. the grey arrow and the black arrow), I feel very inclined to have a keyboard shortcut that could help me switch into a variation or continue with the mainline. However currently there is no such keyboard shortcut and the any combination with forward button invariable continues with the mail line. Could you please let know if there is a keyboard shortcut incase I am missing it? Thanks and regards, Arun |

What is not correct is to store user data there. It should be installed where everyone can use it (and so \Program Files\scidvspc but user data must be stored in their own space so one user's preferences don't affect other users. I installed it to a friend's Win8 laptop today, and was disappointed to see it would not start. -- Santa |

I have released a new OS X build....I had forgotten the custom Tcl/Tk frameworks in 4.9.1, and docked mode should also work better. http://sourceforge.net/projects/scidvspc/files/mac/ScidvsMac-4.9.2.dmg/download S.A. |

I may have a hack to fix the OS X docking issues. It is in subversion, but for those on OS X without the chance to compile scidvspc yourself, could you please add this 'update' (dont add the plus sign) following these lines (in /Applications/ScidvsMac.app/Contents/MacOS/scid or tcl/utils/win.tcl) # Make new tab active set ::docking::activeTab($dsttab) $path set ::docking::changedTab($dsttab) 0 + update Of course - it is a workaround for OS X's TCL event loop brokenness. It is possible it will fix any windows docking startup anomalies too, but i cant test this for a fortnight or so. cheers, Steven |

Could people please test this new feature in subversion (which i'll remind you is now at a different URL since the forced project upgrade "svn checkout svn://svn.code.sf.net/p/scidvspc/code/ scidvspc-code"). At the bottom of the Game menu, you'll find a list of recently opened games. It is adopted from the bookmark system, and as-such, does not support games in the clipbase. The number of recent games is 5 by default, and can be altered via Options->Recent Entries. thanks, S.A. |

Thanks Aleksandar, I have combined them and given them a description ("More Tactics") and uploaded them to the extra files directory with a README. http://sourceforge.net/projects/scidvspc/files/support%20files/more_tactics.tgz/download I might not bulk out the default installation anymore at this point, but sometime in the future we should expand our web page(s) and link to all these extra files. cheers, Steven On Fri, Jun 7, 2013 at 4:16 PM, Aleksandar Josifoski <jos...@gm...> wrote: > Hi Steve, > Very nice program is scidvspc! > > This are two pgn files with ~5000 tactics positions. Hi Steve, The opening reportwindow does not seem to be honoring the options set by the user. I cleared the checkboxes for the 'Statistics', 'Current Popularity', 'Average ratings...', and 'Result lengths...' but the report still generates all of the data. I changed the 'Maximum games in theory table' number from 500 to 300 andthat one part seems to work. Regards. P.S. Just a quick note that our project has been forced to update to Sourceforge's new platform. There are a few changes around - notably the subversion checkout is now svn://svn.code.sf.net/p/scidvspc/code/ scidvspc-code Steven |

Hi Steve, It seems that scidvspcis not able to remember the window layout upon exiting. I opened the programin non-docked mode, then I opened the pgn and game list windows. I made sure that the startup options were checked for these two windows, and I even clicked on 'save options'. After closing scidvspc and re-opening it, only the main board window appears.I'm not sure if it's scidvspc or my Linux environment (kubuntu 12.04.) Thanks! |

Thanks Alan for finding a nasty bug in non-docked mode. I think it warrants a point release. There's a couple of new features too. Hopefully these files are relatively bug-free. Hi Steve, There does not seem a way for scidvspc to "remember" its non-docked window layout upon exit. Docked mode provides a way to pre-configure custom layouts, which is very nice. Is it possible to have this feature for the non-docked mode? Or at least it would be most convenient for the windows to remember their size and position after re-opening the program. Regards, Alan. |

The crash bug closing windows dockable, have been resolved. _The remaining problem is_ related to customizing the size of the windows, if I close and reopen it, I lose all sizes, made previously. Yes, Scid vs. PC 4.9 is officially out, and the web page http://scidvspc.sf.net has had some updates. I can't test the win64 installer myself (which was compiled by Ozkan) and there is a bug about installing it into "Program Files", so it probably has to be installed into a non-privilidged directory. Re this bug below, yes it can happen sometimes necessitating a manual window resize, but not very often in my experience. PS - in SVN i have made a nice adjustment to the gameinfo photos. Click on them and they become small and alligned north-south.
