In the nomap mode, when I'm in the operating round it asks me to select a hex. But I can't since it's nomap mode. Sandra (The game is 1889.) |

No problem. However, next time please attach a .rails saved file. I can do nothing with a .status file (and don't even understand what use such a file has). We're in the middle of a stock round. Moe bought up the last 20% of SX (not counting two shares another player dumped in the bank pool) but the program is not allowing him to buy the BA president's share, even though he has the money and space. |

Good Day, please make sure that you save ALL Rails-Save games in a different place outside the actual installation path, if you have choosen to save them below your actual Rails installation path and want to change that path in subsequent installation. The way the Packager under windows installs new Releases works (designed by Microsoft), it will remove the path of the old directory if you choose to install the new version in a new directory. There is currently no way to avoid that behaviour. Regards Martin for the rails Development Team |

Good Evening, please find the release notes for version 2.3.0. Rails-18xx version 2.3.0 * Completed 18Scan. See the Game Notes for some limitations, and instructions on how to handle reaching destinations, which must be done manually (as in 1856). * Implemented Steam over Holland (SOH). It includes three Start Round variants, which must be selected in the Options menu before starting the game. See the Game Notes for details. A new feature is the cost imbursement of completing a river crossing. Crossable rivers are displayed on the map in the same way as impassible tile edges in other games. * Fixed 1856 bugs, related to using 8-trains rather than Diesels, and to CGR token placement when upgrading a #59 <https://github.com/Rails-18xx/Rails/pull/59> OO tile. * Several (potential and actual) action logging messages have been clarified. * Minor Bug Fixes to 1880 Thanks to all Bug reporters and to Erik Vos for fixing most of them and contributing the implementations of 18Scan and Steam over Holland. |

To whom it may concern, a new beta version of Rails-18xx was released today. Tests would be appreciated. Please make sure you have a backup of your games. It might or might not break existing games upon loading them, tests and reports however of cooperation with old versions is appreciated. Fixes various bugs introduced by core refactoring, not all known bugs are fixed yet. Various Bug reports on github have been submitted and made their way into fixes. We would like to thank all people sending us feedback, save games and bug descriptions. Have fun and stay save, whereever you may be. Martin Brumm in the name of the Rails development team. |

Good Day, some games have specific director certificates worth multiples of share units. Is there a common rule that like for example in 1835 you are not allowed to split sell the director share, e.g. (You can dump the 20% or 40% certificates and demand a 10 % or 20% certificate in reverse from the pool). Or is there any spefici game that allows this type of share dealing ? Regards Martin |

Lonny, Tyler, Ron and I are currently involved in a 4p game of 1856 using Rails 2.0RC3 and have run into what seems to be a bug surrounding the CGR formation. I have included a copy of our save file that can be used to reproduce the problem. We run through the formation (I pay off GT loans, all other companies are folded into CGR) and several shares are issued to players. Then, it should state that the CGR Has 1 10% share remaining but instead says it has 10 and then result is that Tyler holds 30%P with 70% in the IPO and none of the other players holding shares they should have. The text log that follows shows how the game gets reported versus what results. I'm happy to do any testing I can to help diagnose. Thanks in advance if anyone can provide any ideas/solution. JR WR (Tyler) has 5 loans of $100, total is $500 WR pays $100 (of $500) to repay 1 loan(s) of $100 from its treasury WR will merge into CGR CV (Ron) has 2 loans of $100, total is $200 CV pays $200 (of $200) to repay 2 loan(s) of $100 from its treasury GT (Justin) has 2 loans of $100, total is $200 GT pays $48 (of 2) to repay $100 loan(s) of {4} from its treasury GT pays $152 (of $200) to repay 2 loan(s) of $100 from Justins personal cash TGB (Justin) has 2 loans of $100, total is $200 TGB will merge into CGR CA (Justin) has 6 loans of $100, total is $600 CA will merge into CGR Tyler has exchanged 6 old shares for 3 CGR shares Ron has exchanged 2 old shares for 1 CGR shares Justin has exchanged 7 old shares for 3 CGR shares Justin has put one remaining share in the pool Pool has exchanged 7 old shares for 3 CGR shares CGR has 10 shares of 10% each Tyler is now president of CGR CGR floats CGR exchanges the WR base token on O16/1 CGR exchanges the TGB base token on K8/1 CGR exchanges the CA base token on D17/1 CGR discards a 4-train to Pool GT has $0 THB has $492 BBG has $1000 LPS has $286 WGB has $10 CV has $26 CPR has $1000 CGR has $143 GW has $110 Lonny has $356 Tyler has $79 Ron has $274 Justin has $138 End of CGR formation round, resuming OperatingRound 7.1 CGR can operate this round The certificate limit is now 18 (4 players, 9 companies) CGR (Tyler) operates. I have a problem opening a file in Rails for a PBEM game. Here is the file: The gamemaster created the file and sent it to the players via DropBox. I downloaded it and tried to open it bu got the following error message in Rails 1.9.2: I tried loading it in Rails 1.9.1 and 1.9.0, and even Rails 2.0RC3. This is the error message in 2.0RC3: The game loads to 45%, then stops. Here’s the load dialog in 2.0RC3: I emailed my gamemaster, and he had no problem opening the file. We’re both running MacOS 10.13.3. I am running Java 8 Rev 161 (for Rails 1.9.x) and the latest download of 2.0RC3. This is my computer’s configuration: *** Shantanu Saha sha...@gm... |

Good Day, some of the more regular contributors received or should have received a direct invite to a new organisation github called Rails-18xx Now whats behind that, after discussion with Brett Lentz (he and myself are the last remaining Admins on Rails@sourceforge and hes one of the original creators) and we pretty much agreeing on needing more active people and better visibility (and more tools), i went ahead and setup a organisation on Github for collaboration and not running again in a deadlock like happening with the owner of a specific github-account getting inactive and thus stalling the work, like it sadly happened. So if you didnt receive an invite please bear with me. If you are still interested in contributing like programming, testing or discussing implementation, bugs, rules etc, head over to https://github.com/Rails-18xx and become a member of the group or just lurk around there :) The mailinglists here will still be fed with announcements and discussions will be watched (at least by me). I'll try together with Brett to transfer the repositories to github from sourceforge and get the documentation going over there. If anyone wants to help, feel free :) Martin |

Good Day to whom it may concern, even though Stefan planned to have 2.0 out of the gate a long time ago, things didnt go that well. But i'll hope that this RC will be shortlived and nearly free of bugs. There might be one left in regard to semirestrictive tile laying options. If someone has the time to check and produce some savegames which show a unexpected behaviour, i'll be happy to have a go at debugging :). please find below the latest changes towards Rails -18xx: # Rails 2.0 Release Candidate 3 Major Contributor: Stefan Frey Minor Contributors : Erik Vos, Chris Noon, Marek Jeszka, Martin Brumm Be carefull while using this Release on games in progress on 1880 and 1835. Due to the bugfixes here it is recommended that you replay the game using the game log from the old version. It was not possible to make the savegames compatible if you ht the bug in your ongoing game (1835). Fixes: Fixed the Reload Command, missing was the RailsRoot Instance, Move some Code around to resemble the initial load sequence. Condition check for zero vertexes added (Marek Jeszka) 18AL : BonusToken Situation in 18AL Quick Fix to make MapHex.upgrade working for hexes that have no station and get upgraded to a station by a specialtilelay. 18AL has exactly that scenario and a number of other games too. 1880 : Fix Tile 8877 Shanghai Yellow value was wrong now corrected to 30 Fixing a bug in 1880s handling of players debt during emergency raise of trains. Fixing the bug that an investor was still able to operate in Phase 4. This apparently didnt get transfered to 2.0 RC1 while being fixed in 1.9. Fixed the problem that a Special Train Buy using the RC could trigger a phase change that wouldnt be recognised for Train Discards. Fixed missing Stockmarket field F8. 1835 : Corrected game behaviour for 1835. According to Rules a sell share action only does NOT prolong the Stockround but is treated as a pass. Only share buying actions are valid to prolong a round. 1856: Fixes by Erik Vos fixed reload and press done button bug in 1856 (SF) quick fix to remove token of ship company in 1856 in phase 5 (first 6 train), this is related to name and realName attributes of Phase (SF) 18EU: added 18EU test games from Volker Schnell, fixed two reporting issues (SF) preliminary bugfix for 18EU offboard revenue modifier (SF) fix for StartCompany_18EU equality problems (SF) added third station on B/V -3005 tile to prevent error on upgrade to 581 (SF) Internal reworking of code and structure too numerous to mention; all being done by Stefan Frey UI Fixes: (Chris Noon) allow use of the edit box on spin controls, i.e. font size. Sizeable Fonts in Stockspace enabled If i forgot anyone on that list please excuse the oversight. Thanks and have fun Martin Brumm for all contributors. |

Sure thing. I simulated it by setting up a simple test. You can see that after the HIS presidency is assigned, P3 should be acting but P2 is instead prompted. ================ Start of initial round ================ Player 1 has the Priority Deal Player 1 bids 165 on P-5. Remaining free cash 635. Player 2 buys P-1 for 20 <http://rails:2> Player 3 buys P-2 for 40 <http://rails:3> Player 1 buys P-3 for 70 <http://rails:4> Player 2 buys P-4 for 110 <http://rails:5> Player 2 also gets NCS 10% share Player 1 buys P-5 for 165 <http://rails:6> Player 1 also gets HIS 20% president share (**)Player 2 passes. <http://rails:7> On Wed, Jun 14, 2017 at 12:23 PM Martin Brumm <dr....@t-...> wrote: > Am 14.06.2017 um 21:09 schrieb Justin Rebelo: > > We are playing a game of 18NL and found that the purchase of the > > presidency of the HIS associated with P-5 caused priority deal to > > move, even though the purchase was a triggered purchase by virtue of a > > single bid on that private. > > > > 1830 does not do this with the B&O private in rails and I believe this > > is a bug unless I've missed the area in the 18NL rules where this > > difference is explicitly declared. > > > > Justin > > Hi Justin, > can you send me the save games ? > > Thanks > Martin > > > ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ > Check out the vibrant tech community on one of the world's most > engaging tech sites, Slashdot.org! http://sdm.link/slashdot > _______________________________________________ > Rails-users mailing list > Rai...@li... > https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/rails-users > |

We are playing a game of 18NL and found that the purchase of the presidency of the HIS associated with P-5 caused priority deal to move, even though the purchase was a triggered purchase by virtue of a single bid on that private. 1830 does not do this with the B&O private in rails and I believe this is a bug unless I've missed the area in the 18NL rules where this difference is explicitly declared. Good evening, i have checked save games for 1880 and 1830 that i had available both do not show the problem with the route finding algorythmn reported for 1835. If anyone of you out there using 2.0-RC2 could verify, in games that are played right now or have been saved, if the route finding algo does route suggestion and revenue calculation correctly (or wrong) it would be greatly appreciated. Good Day, apparently we have a bug with the route calculation in the RC2. I have deleted the archives from sourceforge right now. This got introduced somewhere between commit 015d1d7 and 7477c48. Thats as far as i was able to retrace that in a hurry. I'll try to find out whats the problem in the next days. Please dont use RC2 in the moment if you want to have the engine calculate the routes. This has been verified for the variant 1835 sofar. Others will be checked also. Thanks to madoar reporting the finding. Regards Martin |

Hello, a new RC of the 2.0 version is available. Please note that two bugs and some mechanics have been changed. This version WILL break 1835 games ongoing. It is still recommend to be used as the previous versions omitted some mechanic in the shareround. 1880 games might also break in the late game. 18AL should now be playable again. Kind regards, Martin |

Fellow 188x Players, we have a released a maintenance release for the Rails 1.9 Version. Rails release 1.9.2 This is a minor release fixing the following bugs: -1880: Created a silent Discard Train Routine to handle the case that a special train buy will trigger a Phase Change. Fixes a Bug reported by Rick Westermann. -1835: Corrected behaviour in 1835 Stockround that treated a share selling action so far as prolonging the stockround. According to the german rules that was not correct. A Share selling action only does not prolong the round, a share must be bought. -1856: Corrected Bug in Phase handling of ports. The port marker got removed one phase earlier than intended by the rules. Fixes a Bug reported by Erik Vos 1856: fixed bugs in certificate limit recalculation Recalculation was: - not done if CGR did not form - not done when companies closed after CGR formation - incorrect even if done if CGR did not form and companies closed - missing some checks Thank you to all our testers. Please report any bugs you find on the mailinglist as usual. Thank you for the patience and feedback. Martin & Erik |

The directory listing you show is the srcdistribution from sourgeforge. rails.sh is in there because its needed and will be put into the release file by the build process. What kind of IDE do you use or plan to use ? eclipse ? If so and you have it installed switch to the ant-view in eclipse add the build.xml from the root-src-directory and run build project or build release. This should lead to a directory named rails-1.9.x or rails-2.x to appear :) Inside that directory you'll find another rails.sh this then should start rails from the commandline. if you want to work without an IDE you need to have "Apache Ant" installed to work with the provided build.xml in the root directory.
