Bugs item #453293, was opened at 2001-08-20 04:28 You can respond by visiting: http://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&atid=108797&aid=453293&group_id=8797 Category: None Group: None Status: Open Resolution: None Priority: 5 Submitted By: Reuben Thomas (rrt) Assigned to: Nobody/Anonymous (nobody) Summary: ncpd 0.10 doesn't start on RH7.1/i386 Initial Comment: I've just installed the 0.10 RPMs on my RH 7.1/intel system, and it doesn't work well (0.9 does). Problems: 1. Starting ncpd doesn't work: it quits immediately without an error. 2. Starting ncpd -d does work, but if I then run and quit kpsion, ncpd then segfaults. I am using RH7.1 with all the latest (standard) libs. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Nobody/Anonymous (nobody) Date: 2001-09-28 15:59 Message: Logged In: NO The problem is caused by multiple deletion of the socketchan when using the 'killsave' command. When the ncp connection tears down, it deletes the socketchan itself, then asks the caller to delete it as well. Meanwhile it's been deleted elsewhere (or something like that). There's a largely untested patch here: http://www.diamand.org/plptools-0.10/ Contains a fix for this, and a few other deletion problems. Seems to work for me following extensive testing (I backed up twice without ncpd crashing). Luke Diamand ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Nobody/Anonymous (nobody) Date: 2001-09-28 15:28 Message: Logged In: NO I've got debian2.2 and it has the same problems. After a bit of delving I've stopped it crashing and it now seems to be standing up. If I could figure out how to post a context diff to this sourceforge thing I would. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Quentin Gunn (qgunn) Date: 2001-09-03 17:52 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=56723 Hi, I too have a Redhat 7.1 on a intel system. I too had problems with bringing up the ncpd deamon. I stopped and then restarted the psion script in init.d directory then I managed to see the psion. In addition I would seem to note that the performance of 0.10 is somewhat slower than version 0.9. The backup of the C disk on a psion 5mx pro is still only 70% after 3/4 hr. The graphical activity in the Kpsion window is also noticeable slower than the version 0.9. Currently I cannot pinpoint the cause. Kind regards Quentin ---------------------------------------------------------------------- You can respond by visiting: http://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&atid=108797&aid=453293&group_id=8797 |
