Initial Comment:
I have recently downloaded the source tar.gz for plptools-0.10. I am running SuSE 7.2 and have a 
Psion 5mx. After succesfully extracting the tar.gz file, I ran the configure (with no arguments), the 
make and make install. All completed with no errors. However, when I try to start the ncpd I keep 
getting "input/output error" and the deamon dies. My psion is connected via COMM2 (ttys1) and I 
have set the Psion serial link to 115200 baud speed. Is there something I'm missing?

Probably yout ttys1 (is that really a lowercase 's'?) is in
use by another process. Please verify that (use lsof for
example). Try using minicom on ttys1. It should show a few
cryptic characters approx every 3 seconds.
