There was a beta version with calculated fields, but Scott Wallace who developpe this part, changed every thing for the next version, then i didn't add this type to the 0.3.3 version. You will find the Calculated Fields in the next version 1.3.0 in few weeks. There is still a bug. The trouble comes the number of digits that you enter. Sorry, i knew it but i thought to correct it. hi 2 all ;-) the same problems are encountered by me on a palm IIIc with the german version of 0.3.3 color 12/3/2001 it's only a test database, but every 5-digit int number which is bigger than 32700 - the limit is not more exactly tested by me - will be shown as - i think it's the maximum number possible - 2147483647. i don't know whats wrong with that - it could be a bug so long, ciao hermann -----Original Message----- From: Alltel - don [SMTP:dk...@al...] Sent: Sunday, December 09, 2001 9:13 PM To: Chalain Marc; pil...@li... I created start and end fields as integer fields (I hope sometime to enable the program to caculate the mileage.) When I enter a four digit number like 2345 the program handles it normally. However, when I add a five digit number like 52947 the program converts it to 2147483647. It doesn't mater what number I enter the converstion is always to 2147483647. Greetings, I would like to put your database to personal use but I need the calculated field type that your web page lists as a supported type. I need to have a running total of an integer field to appear in the list view of the database. I have installed version 0.3.3. Therefore, how do I sum field entries such as a total of "Hours" worked? Under windows the backup goes under the following place. For example: c:\hotsynchsoftware\palmuser\backup hotsynchsoftware =3D path where the hotsynch tools was installed palmuser =3D hot sync username. You don't mention what OS you use or what you use to sync, so I'll assume that you use M$ windows. I don't know exactly where your backups go but they should all go to the same place. If you are trying to view the palm db with the palm windows gui, I doubt that you can. You will need palm-db-tools to convert the file to a readable format. Carson R. Yes there was some bugs in the first release of this version, sorry. I corrected them and now you can find the new release on our website for German, English and French languages. For the others languages please wait just a little (i hadn't enought place on my floppies:). I will updated as soon as possible (saturday if there isn't trouble). Sorry for the trouble, i hope you will still find Pilot-DB as a good software. This may have already been posted, but I'd like to suggest a feature for future versions of DB: how about scroll-locking of columns in tab view, so that as you scroll horizontally through multiple columns of text the leftmost column(s) could be kept in place (in my case, I'd like to keep a list of names on the left and details about the people on the right; scrolling past the name on the left, you lose track of whose the record is. Thanks, Bruce Rusk |

If you're really eager to see the fixes, you could play with CVS version - at least that's how people do with "big" systems, featuring proper memory protection mechanisms. But you're not advised to do that with your palm - or at least I'm afraid to do that (even though I also submitted bug which made DB pretty unusable for me and it was marked as fixed). It's better to wait for a new release, and give developers extra time to fix other bugs and test new release well. hi 2 all ;-) i found a (minor) bug when working with the search/search again or filter settings: when a database is open and you _change_ the option "use filter when possible" to check this option - the buttons don't change, in the search dialog window the dropdown menu "filter" is shown but not in the program, here are the search and search again buttons still visible. Only when you leave DB and open the database again the dropdown menu "filter" in the program is shown. The other way ... to uncheck this option - everything works fine, searching and searching again without filtering is possible. I think these 2 features should be usable independently - filtering, used and configured in the dropdown list (like the "view" dialog window - searching and searching again, with the 2 buttons in the lower part of the screen hope to make a really good program better, thanks for developing DB ;-) so long, ciao hermann |

To change items on your list, go into "edit database design", but instead of going into the list dropdown on the right, tap on the arrow on the left side of the field name and select properites. >From: Roger Eden <RE...@wa...> >To: "'pil...@li...'" ><pil...@li...> >Subject: [pilot-db-list] Drop down list >Date: Wed, 5 Dec 2001 16:27:24 -0000 > >Drop down list is an Excellent feature, but can I add to the list, or must >I >re-enter each time I want to add an item, using a new database design? > >Roger Eden > > >_______________________________________________ >Pilot-db-list mailing list >Pil...@li... >https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/pilot-db-list _________________________________________________________________ Get your FREE download of MSN Explorer at http://explorer.msn.com/intl.asp |

Hello, I'm using the version DB 0.3.3c. Now I've created an new db with the 0.3.3 format. Now I want to convert to my PC. How does it work? The DB-Tools only convert the format 0.2.x. Is there any possibility to convert it to the PC, for example in Access? Malte Kaldewey |

Just a follow-up message; this solution works - sort of. The drawback to duplicating the design only is that the views appear to not be copied. So, the structure of the database is copied to the new database, but any modified views are not.
