Hello everyone. Been a long time user of the db now. Recently I got an Ogo and just was wondering if anyone has some details on it. I am not sure the tweakability of this device. For all you who do not know what an Ogo is just search google on it. -----Original Message----- From: "Patrick Lucas" <pat...@bt...> Date: 12/17/04 10:46 PM To: <pil...@li...> Subject: [pilot-db-list] DB 1.0.4 Hello Marc DB is a very good program and so easy to use. Hi all, I have a column which displays how many tickets have been bought by that particular person, eg. | _Name_ | _Tickets Sold_ | | John Smith | 2 | | Paul H | 1 | I want to be able to have something where it will display the total amount of tickets sold. Can anyone help? P. |

Pablo, I experienced this too on my Palm Tungsten E. What I found that I have to do is push the central button (the physical button, not one of the virtual ones you push with a stylus) and DB carried on as normal. It seems to work fine, although this behaviour is rather annoying. - Robert. |

Is there a way that I can make a database or the records in it private, so that I need to enter a password to access it? (I'm using v1.1.0 on a PalmOne Tungsten E). - Robert Cottrell. |

I am trying this DB out on a Clie sj-peg22, pretty nice. One thing that I notice is that for a note field I can not call up the keyboard display. Is this a know problem? Thank you. p.s. btw, the world db listed on the web page has an error in it, I can't load it to the Clie and DE_Editor says that there is an error in some record, but it doesn't say which one. |

I am so very new to Palm operations but have been dropped into a situation using the pilot-db software. I need to know how to get the data from the palm onto my main computer. I tried using the backup file produced upon hotsync but it was not readable. Thanks. K Thornton |

I am using DB v.1.1.0 (14Nov2003) on my Treo 600. I keep running across this Debug "Experiemental Very Large Database Support" which seems to keep me from adding new records (well, at least sometimes) to a database I use on a daily basis. Whats the scoop? I'm updating but am wondering if anybody can give me any more in depth info? mph |

Hallo everybody, I want to know, what is the best practice to prepare this project : I want to create a dictionary. I have csv file with 3 columns (there is a original word, translated word and comment). The length of 1 line is no more than 200 chars (50 + 50 + 100). This dictionary has more than 140,000 lines. When I tried to convert this 7MB csv to pdb, it was impossible to convert it. (I´m using DB Editor 0.75 - memory error). Therefore I decided to create more databases (for example 4 with 35,000 lines, but it is still so much) My last decision is to create 1 main database only with letters (A to Z)and links to letter database (letter database contains only words starting with one letter). All databses are on SD card. My question : 1) Is there any possibility to do it easier? (To have database with 140,000 lines as a whole on memory card, but it should be quick) 2) If I decide to create one main DB with 30 "letter" databases, how to hide the letters databases from being visible in start of pilot-db? Maybe it should have category other than main database? Any other idea? 3) Maybe there is another solution (I prefer for free). If you know how to manage dictionary with +140,000 lines, help me with this. I have Palm Tungsten T with PalmOS 5 and opening of database with 20,000 lines tooks about 10 second. It is low but I can live with this. Thanks for any advice. Svatopluk Vit Prague, Czech republic |

Hi to everyone, I'm trying now to prepare some little databases with pilot-db, but I can't solve some errors: This is the db schema: (id: name: format) 0; date; (date) 1; time_from (time) 2; time_to (time) 3; hours (calculated) I prepared a script for the filed 3: (- %2 %1) But the error is "Bad argument to -". Strange, I follow the instructions for scripting, and this is very simple... The format for the time is correct, as writed in the manual (00:00). If someone can help me, Thanks! Hi, I just loaded Pilot-DB onto my Palm. It looks really good. Unfortunately, I have a problem. Can you help me please ? If I create a DB on the Palm, it works fine. If I load and try to open a database from your list, eg db-Script Commands, I get - ERROR. Unable to open database. (I've tried 6 of them.) The same thing happens when I create a DB in JPilot-DB, or edit a good Palm DB created on the Palm, in JPilot-DB, and then reload it. This is what I have on the Palm. DBtestFromMac, DBOS, DB00, 84 DBpeople, DBOS, DB00, 642 DBHelp, DBOS, HELP, 6768, v.1.0 DBDatabases, DBOS, LIST, 612 DBaddress, addr, DATA, 84 DB_DBOS_appl_a68k, a68k, DBOS, 84 db-MobileDB, DBOS, libr, 15658, v.1.0 db-memoexport, DBOS, libr, 10966, v.1.0 db-JFile3, DBOS, libr, 14739, v.1.0 db-informations, DBOS, libr, 1616, v.1.0 db-DB3vfs, DBOS, libr, 33135, v.1.0 db-DB2, DBOS, libr, 19718, v.0.0 db-colorselect, DBOS, libr, 2561, v.1.0 db-AddressDB, DBOS, libr, 12201, v.1.0 DB, DBOS, appl, 178679, v.1.1.0 I have a Tungsten C with Palm OS v.5.2.1, and an iBook G4 running Mac OS X 10.3.5. I was wondering if anyone knew what exactly LinkGo required and what necessary setup would be required if I wanted to be able to Skip the "editview" screen and jump directly to the link. If you are in read only mode, or read/edit and have not selected to modify the record, When you click on a link field, you have the option to jump to view the record that the link points at. So instead of two steps, I'd like it to be one step? Thank You. -- Madoc Tsang |

Pilot-DB 1.04 and 1.1.0 use the same database format (DB3) the DB2 plugin is useless. But it's strange that DB 1.1 doesn't read database from DB 1.0.4. Save your databases on your PC, uninstall DB from your Palm and reinstall the new version with your databases. If you have always the problem, send me an example of database. Do you use MacOS? > Hi, > > I just upgraded to version 1.1 and some of my old database files give > the error "unable to open database" when I try to access them. This > only happens with some. what I am trying to do is add a "refresh" option, which will grab the correct values of the current records, w/ link and linked fields. I want to be able to change an imported database to create links, and newly created linked values. Lets say I initially have two databases: SID LAST FIRST SID TIMEIN TIMEOUT now I import those in and create a pdb. Now I change SID to type link. I then add Last to the 2nd database as a LINKED type. When I am done, the "Last" part doesn't show up. I'm pretty sure it's part of the programming that it just doesn't show up. When I click to edit a row of the 2nd database, I can see the correct values. It then asks me if I want to save. So I know somewhere in the coding does this refreshing of a record to get the correct values, but I cant seem to pinpoint it. If someone knows where in the code it does a view/grab of a row, a way to confirm a save, and a way to run through an entire database to get every row, I'd greatly appreciate that insight. Thanks Madoc |
