Thanks to suggestions from Andre & Yedidyah, I was able to produce a 'checkbox' row using the 'Boolean' option and a global setting. One last question on this topic....once a row has been checked, is it possible to toggle that row to 'disappear' from the display? Then, uncheck the row and it becomes 'visible' once again? Thank you again. --------------------------------- Do you Yahoo!? Yahoo! Mail Address AutoComplete - You start. We finish. |

Hi Folks! Just wondering if anyone has given some thought to using SQLite (http://www.sqlite.org )for a backend for Pilot-db. It's an open source sql based project. Someone has already ported an older version of SQLite to Palm OS. There's been some interest in porting it to Palm OS6/ARM native in the sqlite mailing list (archives at gmane). Some info on SQLitePalm can be found here http://www.sqlite.org/cvstrac/wiki?p=SqlitePalm Have a good one! /Mike ______________________________________________________________________ Post your free ad now! http://personals.yahoo.ca |

Hello: Is there a script that can compute a running total that "breaks" on the= month? An example would be: <DATE> <AMOUNT> <RUN_TOTL> 7/19/04 2=2E00 2=2E00 7/21/04 3=2E00 5=2E00 8/21/04 8=2E00 8=2E00 I managed to do this by adding an extra integer field and entering the month= , but there must be a better way=2E Thanking all in advance=2E =20 |

Global preferences - Fatal Alert I use 1.1.0, but allways the vldb-message appear, so I install 1.2. Now the error-message Fatal Alert Emul68KCommon.c, Line:1594, Index out of range Reset appear when I click on "global preferences" in the Option-menu. I habe a Tungsten E with no extra-memory. The DB has 4000 entries. |

Exporting calculated fields is known to not work well. I don't know why yet, but it's probably not very hard to fix. Exporting and Importing the scripts is much more work. I do now know of a problem to import them, in the following meaning: Suppose you have a table with one data field f1 and one calculated field c1. You enter some lines of data into f1 and c1 is calculated. Now you export the db to a csv/inf, add some more lines in your PC, and import it back. Sadly, as I said before, the export you did before did not export the scripts, and obviously the import dropped them. But there is a workaround: There is a program called par (hit 4 in google) that can take out the appInfo part from the pdb. So you can try to do the following: keep the appInfo of the original pdb, then do what you want (pdb2csv, edit, csv2pdb), then take the data (with par) from the new one, and the appInfo from the original. Not everything will work well - e.g. if you have integer fields with autoincrement they won't work well. But you can try playing with this. I had intentions to make a new tool that will export/import everything, but did not progress much. Maybe in a few weeks I will have time again to work on this. > > By the way... this is my first query in this mailing list, so .... hi to everybody. Hi :-) -- Didi |

Hi, I created the database file with palm (db 1.1), I set up all the f= ields. Some of them are "calculated" type. I've in the desktop (Windows= XP) some data (excel, csv and so on). The query is that I would like = to import the data into the dbase in my palm, and obviuosly I would like = that calculated field will work and being correctly fill in. In Dbedit= or (v 0.7.4.0) using import it create a new pdb file, by the way dbeditor= do not support calculated fields, also paste and copy do not work. Hello, with version 1.1 I get the debug information window on a Tungsten T3 when trying to open a database with 3000 records (it can be openend using version 1.0.3). The window says: "Experimental Very Large Database Support". When I duplicate the database and open the new built one I get the same window. Is there anything I can get rid off this message? Hello -- I'm leaving tomorrow night on a trip to China and will be gone about a month. If anyone would be available to do a little temporary mailing list administration, it would help things keep going. The job is really simple: every couple days, check the posts that have been submitted from non-members. Delete the spam, approve the rest. It takes about an hour a week. We could just let it slide, but then folks like Marc (inexplicably not subscribed) will have their posts just sit there instead of being sent to the list. Of course, I suppose Marc could just subscribe :). If anyone is interested, drop me a private email soon and I'll tell you the specifics. I suppose, for that matter, if anyone has suggestions for Hong Kong/Guangzhou/Shanghai/Chengdu send them along too... :) Nathan Kurz na...@ve... |

If you write a Graffiti letter (I assume this works for thumb-boards)=20 then you will be taken to the first record in your database starting=20 with the letter or number. This is much faster than scrolling or=20 paging down, unless of course you have a list of 1500 movies all=20 beginning "The". Obviously it helps to do a sort on the field first. I agree it can be useful, but I am not sure it would be much faster than using pgup/pgdn keys, which move a page (10 records) by default. It takes only a few seconds to scroll through a 1000 records db with them (tried). I also have no idea how much work it would be to implement this. I suggest that you try to create some useful filters on your data - I can't imagine you use the entire set of 1500 records uniformly, without any filterable behaviour. I have a patch pending to make the filter selection window much bigger, to allow easier selection. -- Didi |
