Hello, I'm using palm db v 1.0.2 on a palm III xe with palm os 3.5. I get a crash during I was editing a small database with 1 field. I've entered a new data, store them, go to top of the db, sort the database and then I type an upper V with the pen to jump to the new data. Now my palm makes an reset. The log from the reset shows the following: Crash was caused by error "db3.c, line 1373, out of memory" while running DB. Whats wrong? |

I'm trying to re-compile DB in windows. So far, I've installed and configured: * Cygwin (DLL v 1.3.12-2) * PRC-Tools (Cygwin installed v2.2 - might be a problem. reference version is 2.1) * SDK 4.0 + update (is the update a problem?) I did the ./configure OK. When I ran the make command, I get the following message. Can anyone please help me? $make /usr/bin/m68k-palmos-gcc -Wall -Werror -02 -g -DGOLBAL_ACCESS -include "config.h: -c list.c list.c: In funtion 'ListViewUpdateForm': list.c: 700: dereferencing pointer to incomplete type list.c: 750: dereferencing pointer to incomplete type make: *** [list.o] Error 1 This e-mail (including any attachments) may contain confidential or privileged information and is intended for the sole use of the person(s) to whom it is addressed. Marc - Since I posted my message I have found the cause of the problem. I have been using with my Visor Neo the plug-in module Thinmodem+, which provides a 56k modem plus an extra 8 meg of RAM. When the Thinmodem+ is in place and a new Pilot-DB database has been installed during a Hotsync operation, the system will crash as soon as I attempt to run the DB program. The same thing happens if I create a new database on the Visor. There is a way of working around this problem. I remove the Thinmodem+ module before installing or creating any new database on the Visor. I then reinstall the module and Pilot-DB functions normally. But what was your idea? And what is a "ROM file" and how do I generate it? Salut. This has probably been asked before, but can some-one please give me some tips for setting up a development environment for db under windows (NT4, but soon to be XP pro). I'm interested in developing some apps that utilise a db database as a back-end (maybe by adding more flexible display screens to standard db). Which version of Palm OS dos it show ? I'm sorry, but I think you must wait until the return of Mark to solve this problem. Fab. |

Hello: I am using the java csv importer program to convert shortwave broadcast schedules to a pilot-db usable form. I have two feature requests for the developers: 1) Would it be possible to somehow "tie" a default sorting scheme to each view? In the database I am using (Prime Time Shortwave), I have constructed two views, viewing the schedule by UTC time and viewing it by Country of origin. When the user selects the "By Time" view I would like pilot-db to automatically sort by time, and when the user selects "By Country" I would like pilot-db to automatically sort by Country. In addition, it would be cool if you could specify a default sorting scheme on a "view" line in the csv importer's config file. 2) Speaking of the csv importer config file, I would like to be able to include some kind of credits for the originator of the database, including copyright and version information. It would be nice if you could somehow tell the csv importer to read the first N lines of the csv file as "database credits" There could be a menu entry under pilot-db's "Help" that says "About this Database." When the user clicks on this menu entry, the database credits appear. This would probably require changes to both the pilot-db program on the PalmOS device and the java csv importer. Would this stuff be really hard to implement? Thanks, Dan -- Daniel Lyddy spr...@pa... |

I have a Visor Neo with 8 meg of RAM running PalmOS 3.5. I installed db-light.prc and it seemed to work well. I then deleted it and tried db.prc. When I tried to run it, the system crashed with a Fatal Alert and I had to reset. I have tried several times to make either db.prc or db- light.prc work. I have been careful to delete any previous installation using uninstall.prc and/or deleting the application directly. I am running TealMaster and LapTopHack. I have tried installing db or db-light with hacks activated or deactivated, but the result is the same: as soon as I try to run the program the system crashes with a Fatal Alert. I have seen in various postings elsewhere that other Visor users have also experienced problems with Pilot-DB. Can anyone suggest a solution? David Mayerovitch dav...@sy... |

Currently we cannot convert from Jile4/5 format to db format. This would require a new driver, and developer time is (obviously) severely limited. If anyone would like to volunteer, it would be a good way to learn how to program using the Palm SDK, and it would be a well defined an manageable project. -Scott |

Many thanks What happens? In what way won't DB open your reloaded databases? If they just don't show up in the chooser, you might try the 'Rescan databases' menu item. -Scott |

Hallo to all list members! I want to extract a view on a certain category within "adress" (standard=20 palm application). Within this view I want to list records matching a=20 certain string within a chosen field. I want to edit and input the adresses= =20 using "adress". Therefore there is no need for the db-pilot application to= =20 modify the data. I tried to use adressDB, but I failed in the beginning, because : 1. adressDB just shows _all_ categories and there seems to be no way to=20 show just the category I need. 2. adressDB seems not allow for user defined views Then I tried linking a new database to adressDB in order to be able to use= =20 some user defined view. But then I found that the links has to be defined= =20 for each record. That is far to cumbersome, because this doubles work for=20 data input (as well as expensive data space on my palm) . Can anyone give some hints what can be done? Thanks! Karl -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Dr.-Ing. Hi, I have been using Pilot-DB for a couple of weeks now and I think it's the best software I have installed on my Palm m515. It is so flexible, it is nearly perfect. I say nearly perfect because I have come across a bug several times (pretty much every day in fact) : this occurs when I am trying to update a record. I have created a database with some records, and saved it. I then go back into the database, select a record in order to update it. Once I am in the record page, I click the "edit" icon (bottom middle) and start changing the content of some of the fields. That works fine. The bug occasioanlly occurs when I try to save the record : I click on the "save" icon (bottom left) and sometimes it works great (it returns to the list of records in the database), but sometimes I get a Fatal Alert window containing the following message : "DataMgr.c, Line:7386, DmWrite:DmWriteCheck failed" which freezes the Palm forcing me to do a soft reset. When I do the soft reset and return to the database, the records are unchanged except for the one I was updating. For that record, some of the field contents remain unchanged, some have the first letters deleted (example an entry that had "tuesday" becomes "sday") and some have been replaced with content from the lines above. This is not a big problem and I wanted to report it to you. Please let me know if I am doing something wrong provoking this, or if you are aware of a fix. I hope you keep developping this great tool.
