I know it's been mentioned here before but I can't seem to find the infor from the site of previous mails received. Plus the last time I tried what was mentioned I did not get it to work. My problem is that after installing the latest version of Pilot-DB, i.e. version 1.0.2 and the set of plugins, it's taken up so much of my Palm's main memory that I have almost none left to do anything else. I have installed a 64MB MMC card in my M505 and was wondering if there was a way to run the entire database system, i.e. *.prc and the various databases on the MMC card itself instead of the main memory. Thanks in advance. Edwin P.S. Anyone want to email directly, can do so at edw...@pd... |

I'm sorry but i will not add twice the same function. To rename a database you must select the database and that means to add a new dialogbox if i implement this in the menu. I wrote a documentation where the icon menu is explained! i'm sorry for the missing file! Have you try a ./configure --help to see the options? I added a --enable-gui option but i forget in what version. I don't know enought JPilot-DB to tell if there is a trouble or not. But if you build your database with pilot-db and in the main db format, you should not have trouble with palm-db-tools 0.3.3 (except that you must put "option read-only off" inside the info file) > Bonjour Marc, > > I'm using pilot-db 1.0.2 and managed to get it working on my palm m105. > Now I want to get a database from my palm to my Linux workstation and try to get it > into gnumeric or OpenOffice. Is it possible to conver JFile4/5 databases to Pilot-DB or just JFIle3? There are a few non-game databases at http://palmpilotspiele.de.vu/ that are of interest to me, and probably others too, but they are in JFILE4/5 format. Can anyone convert them? Hans |

Hi, I have been using Pilot-DB and think it's a brilliant tool. It is so flexible, I can create any database I want. I have two questions : 1) Is it possible to delete a database from the list ? 2) Is it possible to rename a database ? I hope you keep developping this database as it beats any other one I have tried so far. Perhaps in a future release, but currently only Marc has been developing the PC side tool, and I think he prefers to spend his time on the palm side of the application. However, the new version of the scripting library is much more portable, and should not be too difficult to integrate into the PC side tool, so hopefully this can happen in the near future. -Scott |

Hello, I would like to ask you if it is possible to include scripts for calculated fields while creating on PC. I have two databases in Access and I need to export them often to Palm but I need to add calculated fields. But when I add them, the script is empty - so I must write it everytime I export it and convert it to PilotDB. Is there any possibility how to do it? Thanks, Hynek Sladky |

from looking at the code in db.cpp, it looks like the separator used for list members in the info file used by csv2pdb is hardcoded to be a "/", with no "escape" machanism or other means for entries that need to contain a "/", such as in the example i gave below. i'll look at adding an escape to slashes to be included (ie. "1\/2/1\/3/1\/4" -> 1/2, 1/3, and 1/4) and post my modify source here. -shane ----- Original Message ----- From: "Kelly Shane Harrelson" <sh...@mo...> To: <pil...@li...> Sent: Monday, July 29, 2002 3:47 PM Subject: [pilot-db-list] csv2pdb and lists > in the info file, how do i specify a list member that > contains a "/" ? for instance, in a size category, > suppose i wanted 1/2, 1/3, and 1/4 to be options? > > also, it would be a nice feature if you didn't specify any > values for a list, it would create the list as all the unique > values of that field from the CSV file. > > thanks. > -shane > > > > ------------------------------------------------------- > This sf.net email is sponsored by: Dice - The leading online job board > for high-tech professionals. in the info file, how do i specify a list member that contains a "/" ? for instance, in a size category, suppose i wanted 1/2, 1/3, and 1/4 to be options? also, it would be a nice feature if you didn't specify any values for a list, it would create the list as all the unique values of that field from the CSV file. thanks. -shane |

Hi all. I'm using the jtools-db to create a database file from xml. When use it to generate only a few records all seems to work fine. But when I use it to generate a very large database (5740 records, 780k) and load it into the palm, I end up with a complete lockup. I ran this under the pc emulator too and it reported writing to memory location 0x4. Do you think this is a problem with the jtools-db system, or with large data files, or what? Thanks Kevin Ruland |

hi 2 all ;-) i have problems with the script engine, the reference to a boolean field is somehow inconsistent the column %6 is a boolean field, the column "Test" is the result of the following script (+ %6 10 ) the column "Test" shows either "10" or "11" depending on the field in column 6 (true or false) the following script always shows "0" in the column "SuDi", it doesn't matter whether the entry in column 6 is true or false (? (eq %6 1 )1 0 ) the following screenshot shows the results of both formulas in the columns "SuDi" and "Test" i tried to solve the problem with the formula (? (seq %6 true) tr fa ) (in the correspodending csv file boolean is shown as true or false) but then the result is the entry: "[broken]" due to the mismatching types of string and boolean (int). this is not shown in the screen shot. bug or my mistake ? hope for answer so long, ciao hermann |

Each column is defined by the width of the column in the display as well as the field from the database that will be displayed. There should be exactly one copy of this chunk in any DB database. Its format is as follows: > UInt16 flags > Record Structure > Each record in a DB-format database consists of an offset table followed by the actual field data. The offset table exists so that it is extremely easy to find a field in the record. The offset table consists of one 16-bit unsigned integer (called UInt16 in the PalmOS SDK) for each field. Each entry in the array is the offset of the start of the corresponding field. > The format of each field type is: > FIELD_TYPE_STRING (1) > This field type is stored as a null-terminated string. > FIELD_TYPE_BOOLEAN (2) > UInt8 value; > This field type stores simple flag values. The Note is a null terminated string placed at the end of the record. If the note is empty, the offset is null and there are nothing at the end of the record. > FIELD_TYPE_LIST (7) > UInt8 itemID > FIELD_TYPE_LINK (8) > UInt32 recordID > Char * name (null terminated string.) > FIELD_TYPE_FLOAT (9) > double value > FIELD_TYPE_CALCULATED (10) > Unknown > Field_TYPE_LINKED (11) > Unknown > |
