Craig Bowers / Michael Obersnel Craig: I am trying to do something similar but the value returned by casting a linked field to an int seems to be a pointer value and not the int value of the displayed string. I'm making a calorie counter that uses two databases, one for food items and the other with what items I had on that day. The problem arises when I try to use linked fields in calculations. first database has a [string] and an [integer] description and calories the sceond one has a [date] folowed by a [link] to the string description in the first database and a [linked] to the integer calories I'd like to add a calculated field that accumulates calories for any given day, but I think the scripts don't consider links to integers to actually be integers. Great job. I use this db almost every day. Can we expect another version = soon? If you care for any sgguestions...... 1) A check box by each record, or a way to select multiple records would = be handy for copy / delete of multiple records at once. 2) When you exit out of the database, the sort function returns to = unsorted. I have run into a few stability issues, but they all seem to trace back = to one of the plugins. If you don't care for any suggestions, thats fine too. Downloaded as well as created databases with cvs2pdb 0.3.6 and JPilot-DB 1.3.1 running under OS X 10.2 and synced to Palm OS 5.2.1 on a Tungsten T3 do not work (unable to open database) with Pilot-DB 1.1. Reverting back to Pilot-DB 1.0.3 (18 Mar 2003) from a download file named db-1_0_4.zip worked without problems met the same databases as mentioned. I saw some unfinished mailarchive content about syncing with Mac OS X, but that's certainly not the case here. Any ideas anyone? Kind regards, Tim at 3musketiers.nl |

First of all, I've found pilot-DB to be an all-around excellent program. After playing with it for a few days, I've got some ideas for improvements. Probably not brand new ideas, but I didn't see any mention of planned features on the web site. Dragging to resize/reorder columns would be great. Having a search filter in list views would also be a nice feature. Trying to get even more out of pilot-DB, I got some of the plugins, without much success. The MobileDB plugin was able to list the databases, but opening them caused a fatal error, and forced a reset. I can't unlist the MobileDB databases or remove the plugin. The docs say there is a 'delete' button in the plugins window, but there's not. The plugin for Memory Sticks didn't go so well either. Trying to move a database froze up the program, and seems to have deleted the database. I'm using a Sony Clie model SEG-SJ22. I'd love to get these plugins working. Thanks for any help |

hi 2 all ;- ) first of all - version 1.1.0 is working very fine on my tungsten t the only bug i noticed is about the boolean field, 1. in former versions i could mark it in the list view, now that isn't possible, tabbing on the bool field will show another boolean field 3 lines deeper and left of it which can't be marked or unmarked. in the list view every information which is selected is shown inverse, blue background and white letters, only the boolean field is black. 2. in the detailed dataset view the option "use first line for title" is always marked. even when it is unmarked the next time you open the note it's marked again. feature suggestion: 1. what about an icon for a note - like in the detailed, dataset view - in the list view, tabbing on it will show the note, tabbing on the rest of the note field (description) will show the edit field. 2. what about another option in the search dialog. when a search is done and a "filtered view" is shown in an additional search you have the possibility to search in "intersect" or "union". what about another search option to search in the "not displayed datasets" ? thats all i found in that great program, you've done a really good job !! so long, ciao hermann |

Hi all, I've recently started using Pilot-DB and am really enjoying it. It's just what I've been looking for to keep track of various tidbits of information that comes my way. Anyhow, I started using v1.0.4 on my HandSpring Visor Platinum (Palm OS v3.52) and noticed that the Note field does not allow me to enter data into it. I upgraded to the latest version 1.1.0 released just last week. Now, the Note Field is showing up completely blank (it was showing up with lines in v1.0.4) but still allows no entry. Fortunately, the Done button is working so I can leave the dialog. However, I'm unable to add extensive notes to my Book database :(. For now, I'm using the String datatype. Interestingly, if I add text to the String field then convert the datatype to Note, the text shows up on the note. However, I'm unable to edit it. Any suggestions? Thanks, William -- Knowmad Services Inc. http://www.knowmad.com |
