no, i don't want to add buttons but i changed the use of "+" button and it becames "All" and in french "Tout" now it's too long. That is the raison. Salut, Marc. If more buttons are needed, then by using icons more space can be found for buttons. Also it enhances the useability of the application, and possibly the effort needed to translate to other languages. -----Original Message----- From: Carson Wilcox [mailto:car...@ya...] Sent: Monday, 16 July 2001 22:49 To: Chalain Marc Cc: Pil...@li... i think to find a solution. i use ascii icon. the prc file is smaller, the length of buttons too, but the icons are not really pretty!!! If you want an idea of the icon send me an email i'll send you a beta4 with icons and another with ascii icons. I found an another problem with icons, i must build prc with color icons then DB should use more memory. Hello, I unistalled MobileDB for test purposes and now have the same behaviour. The application crashes with a Fatal Exception. I have not compiled the plugins myself. I used the zip file from SourceForge. Maybe this archive is corrupted. With kind regards Klaus leiss |

Hello, today i tried the beta 4 of db 0.3.2. If I load any plugins to the pilot I get a Fatal Exception I have tried the information and the MobileDB plugin. This is the case with either db-de.prc or db-en.prc. If i have only the application installed I get no exception but i can not open my databases since they are in MobileDB format. I have also MobileDB installed. Another Item is the naming of the plugins. I would like to suggest that the name starts with the same characters as the application. That means DB-MobileDB and not db-MobileDB DB-information and not information That way the are grouped together with the application in if you sort by name. With kind regards Klaus leiss |

It was my first idea but it's a little more complicate, but i will see that in a close future because it will reduce the size of DB. Hi there! I just tried the new beta4 version and I just love the new filter search! This has been on my personal wish list since the very first time I used db. What I'd still wish for are named filters, where I can define filter criteria save them (much like the views) and recall them by picking the filter from a popup-list. Also I would love it if I could enter more than one search criteria. For example, I have the list of my DVD collection in my Palm. So when I chose a movie I'd like to watch, I'd like to be able to filter something like "all DVDs that I haven't seen yet and that are fantasy movies". Also, a display of how many rows matched the search criteria would be nice (maybe a plugin?). I don't expect for these features to be included in one of the next versions, I just wanted to let you know what would be useful to me (and what I think may be useful for other users too). I'm very pleased with the progress of DB in the last half year. I'd especially like to thank Marc for his efforts. You're doing a great job, please keep it up! Just throwing these out for comment and hopfully some future release. 1: Support for floating point numbers 2: Calculated fields (I've mentioned this one before) 3: Linking between databases 4: Filtering/views (viewing all data prior to or between two dates in a date field) Carson __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? For the DB program, the only way currently is to dump the database to a text file and use the palm-db-tools (http://palm-db-tools.sourceforge.net/) to convert the text file into a PDB file. As for other database programs, several support either direct conversion from Access or conduit access to Access via the desktop utilities supplied with each product. Check each product for specifics. Some products include JFile, MobileDB, HandDBase, and ThinkDB. |

We could have: The open source program I'm assisting (LyX) has a separate CVS area for documentation. Just before the release of a new version of LyX, they copy over the latest documentation into their .../lib/docs directory. Perhaps a similar scheme could be employed here? i'm looking for some help. Now before to update the download page with a new beta i would like some people test the future version. If you are interested send me an email, i will answer with the future version. Now, Peter, Carson and Tom help me to test. I need some charitable people to update the help strings of DB that are at the end of the db.rcp file. The last but not the least, i'm looking for developers to implement new plugins: * a memopad export (very simple). * a die roller, for role playing game (unuse but good for a first plugin with forms). * the sort editor of Tom (very hard, a lot of modifications, the plugins don't accept global variables). * the linkaware feature (impossible now, it need some support inside DB). for all of this plugins i can give a lot of information ( begining code, flow chart...). Information: i added filtering to DB. it runs but with a plugin that i should complete. Tom found a bug in the 0.3.2beta3 When you duplicate a DataBase with a note, DB doesn't find the Note. I updated the CVS tree, and if you want a version without this bug, you will find in the download page a snapshot with binary of the CVS tree. I will build a beta4 in one week i'm waiting to correct more bugs. Boolean fields are stored as a single byte. Look at the DB_PackRecord function to see how fields are packed into the PalmOS database. The PDB file is so large because the PDB file contains not only the packed data but also a header containing the database structure as well as the PalmOS record headers and PalmOS PDB header. There is a lot more in the PDB file than just the data! > Thanks again for a great program! I noticed at least one person > volunteered for documentation. It should be possible to give CVS access to people doing a lot of documentation so that you could just update the DB source tree directly with the documentation. I am thinking the documentation should probably reside in the docs/ subdirectory just like the existing documentation. We could have: docs/manual/en docs/manual/fr and such to support more than one language. |

Hi, I'd like to move some of my databases off of thinkDB and onto palm-DB but a couple of things are preventing me from doing this. 1: As I mentioned in another email, calculated fields. 2: The ability to create views/filters, I'd like to be able to do this to allow the deletion of all items in the view, say prior to a given date in a date field. 3: The ability to link one database to another. For example I use thinkDB for time keeping and maintain a list of projects in another database and a list of tasks that my client wants me to charge to in another. I link to these from the timekeeping database. I hope all of that makes some sense. If any of this is now possible, I'd appreciate any pointers.
