db-0_3_2iconic.zip is more recent, it contains the last bug fix on the "iconic" versions. The different names come from one of my mistakes, one time i forgot the "-" and now i use only the last name:
db-0_3_2iconic.zip
Now you can make a mistake when you download from :

but you can sure to see only the good version at this URL:

here only the last versions are displayed.
I will be happy to delete the bad files but the administrators of sourceforge don't accept, for them sourceforge must keep every release files on their site. Sorry. For that i will be happy if the website administrator of pilot-db accept to change the link to the dowload file ;)

Well I'm rather new here.. but what i'd like to know
is that.. is your DB one you've created or is it an
existing one??
If you've created it, you must create your conduit so
as to transfer your data to your desktop at the right
place..
If its an already created database, just follow Mike's
solution..

I overlooked that, sorry. What's the difference, by the way
between db-0_3_2iconic.zip and db-0_3_2-iconic.zip, which is

yes and no.
Yes you can know the file format. First you should have the documentation of PalmOS http://www.palmos.com/dev (sorry the site is out now and i can't find the exact URL) and the db-0_3_2.tar.gz file where you will find the file docs/format.txt.
No, you don't need to have db-en.prc to create a .pdb file in db-0.3.x format. db-tools creates .pdb file in this format.

This zip archive contains the latest relase build of
the pilot-db software. There are several prc files
in it. You just need one (see the included db_docs.html).

That's because the db-tools are just that: additional tools
for the PC that allow you to convert the db files to
text files that can be read with every text editor or
any other program that can read plain text input and tools
that allow the creation of palm databases from plain text
files.

I grabbed the palm-db-tools.0.3.2.gz and the zip files and could not find
the prc file
that goes on the palm.

Sorry to sound obtuse, but here goes.
I am wondering if anybody has read the pilot-db databases with a program
written in NS Basic?  I am working with a developer that will only use NS
Basic
and expects to see a standard PDB file (whatever that is).  I thought the
program had to
interpret the data.

If I use Pilot-DB to created a pdb file, can I let the developer know the
file format
to expect, or does the pilot-db app only create files that the db-en.prg
program can read
on the palm?

Depends on what you use to talk to your handheld - if you use the Windows
desktop software, simply look for a backup directory under the directory
where you installed the software - e.g. on my machine, all the handheld
files are in C:\Program Files\Palm\RessleM\Backup. Replace "RessleM" with
your user name. This assumes you set the database preference backup bit to
"on". For example, I have a database "Dark Nebulae List"; it's in my
Backup directory as Dark_Nebulae_List.PDB.

If you use Linux, use the program pilot-xfer with the "-f" (fetch) option.
Something like
   pilot-xfer /dev/pilot -f "Dark Nebulae List"
You will be left with Dark Nebulae List.pdb in the current directory.

[pilot-db-list] read-only option

newbie question,
Just installed Pilot-DB all works fine except options for read-only 
and copy-prevention seem to prevent the PALMOS simulator from 
loading the .pdb file.  What am I missing?

Well, I have a database that might be of interest to others (then again,
maybe not...)

Did you ever try to find a specific Monty Python sketch in your
Monty Python DVD or VHS collection? I did! So I searched the
web for an episode listing and transfered this to a small db
database.

Now, any time you feel the urge to watch the famous "Dead parrot"
sketch, all you have to do is search for the word "parrot" on
your Palm and you'll find that it was the 5th sketch in Episode 8.

Or does your brain hurt? Just look up the word "brain" and
see the "Gumby brain specialist" in episode 32, sketch 1.

This is a 20KB database with 460 entries. Unfortunately, I
don't have a web site where I can put it up. If anyone's
interested, I can send it by mail. Hans, if you think this
is something to put on the Pilot-DB page, let me know.

You still have the month, but if you want more, it's not a problem. Now we have the English, French, German version. I'm waiting the Pedro's work for the Portugese. For others language i need the help of any contributers, please help us. If you don't know how to translate DB, but you want to do it, send me an e-mail, i will help you.

Hi,

To show I'm still alive, I updated db_docs to include the latest
building.txt and format.txt. I patched in the en.rcp file as a first cut
at a usage section. I've also committed an HTMLized version to CVS - it's
not pretty, but it will suffice until I'm really finished. (If you have to
play with it, at least you won't have to convert everything by hand.)

As I've mentioned to several of you now, I will continue working the docs
for the next few days in LyX/LaTeX. When I'm satisfied I've got a
reasonably complete document (all the sections, screenshots, etc.), I will
make a final HTML version, clean that up, and from thenceforth, the HTML
will be the official version.

Side note: it makes infinite sense to me to include the docs for the
db-tools in this document. Do others agree?

Yes there was a bug when you create a note with a string over 500 characters. I corrected it. Now, the note limitation is 3072 caracters and a string is cuted at this limite if it is usely.

I do a short cut for a bug of PalmOS 3.2 prior. when you select the find button a first time after you have always the all button. Now is corrected.

I'm sorry i told that DB is released and i correct again bugs.
But for people who have PalmOS 3.5 and don't rebuild special database the current version works fine (http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=3D621&release_id=3D41941).
for people with PalmOS 3.1 and prior and don't use special database, the text buttons versions works fine too.

For others i upload the correction this night.

Sorry, a palm device is not a Win$ desktop. On a Palm device we need the maximum of optimisation.

The Edit view
from the left to the right:
 * save(done): to save the modifications if there was modifications.
   not in "read only" mode
 * cancel(cancel): to quit without saving.
 * delete(in the menu): to delete the record.
   not in "read only" mode
 * copy(in the menu): to duplicate the record.
   not in "read only" mode
 * edit(modify): to go in edit mode.
   not in "read only", "read write", "edit" mode.

The List view
from the left to the right:
 * quit(done): to return in the chooser window.
 * new Record(new): to create a new record.
 * find(find): to filter the records.

i think it's come from a string with more than 500 charateres. I send you a mail to have more informations about this bug, with your first explanation i didn't understand how to find the bug. You told about the 8th records, and i found nothing. I will see that again.
