Hi there, to all those who find DB terrific but miss a more comfortable and = uptodate connectivity to PC-databases: I am in the same situation and = offered Marc Chalain my help. I am planning a conduit for DB more suitable to the needs of frequent = syncronization to PC databases, specially written for DB and integrated = into DB. At the time I am in contact with Marc and the way it looks like = at the moment the conduit will be a Delphi program running both on = Windows and Linux systems. It will support all field-types of DB, = DB-views and ODBC connectivity in the first release. But since there seems to be a huge demand on float-type fields I will = start on integrating this fieldtype. The conduit will be next, may be in = November or December. I will ask for your needs by time. See you then Philipp Pott |

Hi I'm PLUNGER Not sure I'm in the right place (this seems to be for program developers = and I am a simple "end user".) but I had to write and say thank you for = the best data base program. I am a Plumber by trade and needed access to my inventory data that is = currently on my PC in .DBF format(The Invoice Store 4.0 {canned DBase = for DOS} , also GREAT!). Your DB program for the PALM was just what I was Looking for and the = front end and lay-out are absolutely perfect , great Job!. I have 2 Questions(Complaints?) 1: Will the final Product be Easier to convert and load data into = the palm? I had to chop and format the DBF file(in MSWorks) and save as CSV, Then = write a "INFO"file, Then use cryptic dos commands to combine the two = files and save the resulting PDB file, find it (in the install section = of palm desktop) and hotsync it. If I had to do that weekly it would not be worth it. 2:Any ideas on when , where , and how much($) for the first working = (not testing) version ? I am using it extensively and feel guilty for relying on Your = programmers hard work and not paying for it. |

Hi! I just wanted to inform anyone interested that I have crated two new databases with all the current Top Level Domains (TLD's). The first one has all the country-specific codes such as .de etc and the other database has information on the generic TLD's such as .com and .biz. Cheers, Hans Ajiet Holtkamp |

Basically I just take each screen and stretch it, then reduce the font sizes. The small fonts are not optional. Screen rotation isn't done. I haven't sent a diff because of the poor quality, but maybe it is a starting point for someone. I'll tidy it up and add rotation and better wheel support (for now just scrolls) sometime, but not for a while. What can I send you ? "cvs diff" ? or diff version_cvs version_mine ? Hello Marc. From your message, am looking forward very much to the next version. Below my replies to your ????: > > 4 column stats info, user defined, easier access (rather than plugins > > menu) > > ???? > Right now, tapping on a column head only provides sort options. I go to plugins/information but only get DB wide num records info. What I was thinking was that column info (stats-max/min/avg/count/etc, maybe filters?) that would be accessible via tap on head fieldname. > > 7 table pref or set to open/write for inline display edit > > ??? i will add a database or global pref to choice Read/Edit or Read/write open mode. is it that do you want?? > Yes, that's it. If it's that take the SI_units database. > I just haven't figured why/how to use note rather than just string. Same size, can use multiple string fields (n1, n2) to categorize notes, and reference is one tap vs more with note. It would be nice to have multiple notes in a rec you could filter on quickly to access expanded info, but that's not the way it works. I'm not sure what you mean by SI_Units, that uses a string for notes as above. If you could clarify with an example I'd appreciate it since I'm sure I'm missing something that could be slick. Again, great tool. Much appreciation for everyone's efforts on the inside of it. Regards, Matthew |

As long as a DB wish/wants list is up, here's mine at the moment: 1 float datatype 2 freeze display columns in record views 3 popup entries (the list type mentioned sounds like it) 4 column stats info, user defined, easier access (rather than plugins menu) 5 calculated fields, extended, user-programmed calculations 6 NUL values permitted (num fields) 7 table pref or set to open/write for inline display edit 8 export to memo, save/export subset functions 9 faster! I really like DB. The only alternative that compares (IMHO) is JFile5. Still haven't figured out a use for the note datatype however. Best Regards, Matthew New York City |

First please, don't use the upper case it's very hard to read it. you have different solutions: - a field for the date and a boolean field for each student. it's good if you often want to see who wasn't present at a date. - a string field for the name of the student and few fields for the date, you can add new date fields after if it's neccessary. You create a record for each student. (you can add more informations as notes, options, class...) It's good if you often want to watch the work of a particular student. - a string field for the student's name and one for the date. You create a record for each student who wasn't present at one date. I's usefull if you want only check the absents, after you can do a sorting by date or by student. Now you should write each time the student's name. (in the next version you could build a students' list) I think the best way it's 2 databases: one with all informations for each students + one with the name and the date of the absent student. Now, i'm working about link between databases then you will be able to replace the name field of the second database to a link to the first one then you couldn't rewrite the student's name at each time. I hope to give a first 0.3.3 beta version in one month or a little more. I AM LOOKING FOR A SIMPLE WAY TO ENTER "THE DATE" ON A DAY A STUDENT IS OUT WITH JUST ONE STROKE. I ALSO DO NOT KNOW HOW TO USE THE DB TOOLS TO TRANSFER FILES BACK AND FORTH FROM MY COMPUTER AND PALM. IS THERE A MANUAL AVAILABLE OR SOME REFERENCE GUIDE. I WOULD BE HAPPY TO HEAR OF ANY SUGGESTIONS YOU MIGHT HAVE FOR ME. THANKS DAMIEN |
