Dear All, We have various issue with phpwiki regarding encoding set. Hello---I'm sorry if this is an oft-asked question, but I just installed phpwiki-1.2.2 on a Solaris system (I'm using Cedant as a web host) and it works fine. The only thing is that after I set the wikiadmin and adminpasswd in the admin.php file (as shown below), when I try to log in as admin (by hitting http://www.mydomain.org/phpwiki/admin.php with my web browser), my wikiadmin and adminpasswd are not accepted. I was looking at http://mac.against.org/ the other day, which has a nice "JournalLast" plugin. I am wondering if the code is available somewhere and if it's going to be added to phpwiki? I was thinking of writing something similar myself, but as I see, you (Rui) have already made one, I can start using your plugin, and when I feel I need to change it, do it then. I am also interested in the latest entries list that is in the right column. I guess this is possible with the recentchanges plugin somehow, or? -- ___\ Jon Åslund |

I try to use imap authentication and I have this line at index.php

But it is impossible to sign-in with an imap valid user. I receive a
"Invalid password or userid." message.
Can you tell me a document to read to configure IMAP validation?
Is there are any way to debug this problem?
How I can be sure that IMAP is the validation method?
(the imap log do not repot validation error and the wiki log do not show
anything).

i want to publish a php wiki on my domain www.paprosoft.de which is hosted by greatnet. this means, i can only acces our webspace through ftp.... i always get this error: Fatal PhpWiki Error lib/DbaDatabase.php:32: Fatal[256]: dba_open(tmp/wiki_pagedb.gdbm,c) [<a href='http://www.php.net/function.dba-open'>function.dba-open</a>]: Driver initialization failed for handler: gdbm: Can't be writer changing the directory for the db files doesn´t help anything. at first nothing worked due to the not installed gdbm-module for php. then i asked the service-team to compile the php thing with the "--with-gdbm" option. they did. and now i have this error. i´m getting crazy... merci for your help, matthias |

Hallo Jobst, I have some answers, the rest can probably be answered on the=20 phpwiki-talk mailing list by the other members, so I am forwarding a=20 copy there too to see whether the rest of the team has any comments to=20= add. Glad to hear you like PhpWiki! :) Actually I am just one of the project=20= contributors, PhpWiki is not all my doing. BTW, which operating system do you have? Standalone: PhpWiki requires a web browser and web server (like Apache) with a PHP=20= interpreter module, so technically it cannot really be "standalone".=20 However, if you install it onto your personal computer probably no one=20= will notice, or you can set up a firewall to block port 80. (I am=20 running this way with Mac OS X and Apache, for my private note-taking). Pear: The required PEAR files are now included with PhpWiki. (It also comes=20 with ADODB, but pear is still the default I think). Tar vs. Zip: I'm not sure what you mean, would you elaborate a little more? Which=20 tar file are you referring to? Database: There is no automatic setup of the database yet. Schemas are already=20 prepared and can be found in phpwiki/schemas, see=20 phpwiki/doc/INSTALL.mysql for instructions to create the database and=20 the tables from a shell. phpMyadmin should be fine too, but as I never=20= used that I imagine one would have to read the=20 phpwiki/schemas/mysql.sql and input it manually. Editing index.php: It really depends on how your server is set up. If you have ssh or=20 telnet access to the server you can always edit index.php once it is on=20= the server. I think it best to configure as many options as you can=20 before you upload it, PhpWiki won't work at all without at least the=20 database configuration in place. Hello,
using Apache 2.0.45, php 4.3.0-dev, MySQL 4.0.12 and phpWiki 1.3.4 on
W2k, I can't load "OldTextFormattingRules", or the german version of
"TextFormattingRules" ("TextFormatierungsRegeln"). Somewhere I read,
that this may be caused by footnotes like "[1]". Is there any
explanation or solution for this?

I have a little problem. Perhaps you can help me.
I wrote a book in 1994 titled WABI-SABI: FOR ARTISTS,
DESIGNERS, POETS & PHILOSOPHERS. In the repeated--ad
infinitum--wiki world, my book is quoted and my name
is mentioned in the "wabi-sabi" entry. There are not,
however, quotation marks around all of the material
quoted from my book. Nor is there a mention of my
book's title. I went to one of your websites and tried
to insert this material myself. Maybe I was sucessful,
maybe not. Anyway, quotation marks should additionally
be placed around the words
"Wabi-sabi is a beauty of things
imperfect,impermanent, and incomplete. It is the
beauty of things modest and humble. It is the beauty
of things unconventional." (the foregoing are from my
book's backcover).
Also, quotation marks should be placed as follows:
"Material characteristics of wabi-sabi: suggestion of
natural process
irregular
intimate
unpretentious
earthy
simple"
(it is from the contents of the last
chapter of the book.)
I know this might not seem so significant to you, but
since this section of your wiki world comes up so
often in web searches, it is important for me that my
exact words are attributed properly. I would be very
grateful if you make these changes.

Hi, I have installed v1.2.2 and set it up for flatfile operation. Following the install recommendations in the readme's I got the wiki running without a problem. However I ran into a conundrum: The INSTALL readme says "PhpWiki will create some DBM files in /tmp. They contain the pages of the live site, archived pages, and some additional information." And further, "The files are called: wikipagesdb, wikiarchivedb, wikilinksdb,wikihottopicsdb, and wikihitcountdb." I have now edited a couple of the default pages and created a couple of new pages (it all seems to work just fine), but for the life of me I can't locate the directory /tmp or the dbm files mentioned when I log in to my site via ssh or ftp. They don't seem to exist anywhere on my site. Is this possible, or am I nuts? What am I missing? It had stopped in the same spot, exactly. The file it was dying on was OldTextFormattingRules. I blanked out that file in /pgsrc (I'm only allowing new markup anyway); it was then able to load everything in as normal.
