This resembles the current scheme actually, sortof.. Polls can be set as a block or not. If not, they are still accessable if you click on [ polls ], these polls that aren't shown as a block can be regarded as 'archived'. I may have misunderstood here. > + allow for other box where user types in answer (although > the addition of comments may disolve this thought) Yea, comments may be better. > + have an ordered poll where order of preference is taken into account. > - example : what is your favorite color? > (2)blue > (1)green <-- note, this is my fav i give it a one > (3)black > (4)pink <-- note, i don't like pink so give it a four > - either we enter numbers OR it takes into account our order of > checking (can js do this?) or some other way > - results would be compiled somehow ... ... ... hmm. This is a clever idea, but uhm.. you do it. =] This adds a few more to the current TODO.. thanks! jason |

greetings all, yes, the poll is not complete and a polling manager is on the todo but ... here are some thoughts / ideas ... some better then others : + cookie time configured in admin (hours/days) + if cookie present then - display results of poll vs poll itself OR - cycle through another active poll this would work of course if one has >=2 active polls + networked polling system (hmm) + if GD then choice of pie, bar, foo for results + archivable polls where new visitors can vote on old poll , not just view results (tricky, some are outdated ... maybe boolean of archive view y/n and archive post y/n per poll (huh?) + allow for other box where user types in answer (although the addition of comments may disolve this thought) + make a poll a special "Topic" or just add comments seperatly + popup polls suck, actually, popups are evil in general ;) + have an ordered poll where order of preference is taken into account. - example : what is your favorite color? (2)blue (1)green <-- note, this is my fav i give it a one (3)black (4)pink <-- note, i don't like pink so give it a four - either we enter numbers OR it takes into account our order of checking (can js do this?) or some other way - results would be compiled somehow ... ... ... hmm. i think that's all for now, thoughts? likes, dislikes? the archive thing sounds complicated and the networked way would (i think) require a centralized server (polls.phpweblog.org) so idk ... unless the phpweblog community decides to create a Beowulf Polling Cluster ;) philip |

the latest unstable (0.3.0-ripe) is ready for release i think. it's still in unstable phase, but if no new bugs are reported within the next 24 hours or so, 0.3.0 will be released. this release will include a sql script 0.2.4-0.3.0.sql which will painlessly update your database to match the 0.3.0 schema. if you are having any problems at all potentially relating to a bug or 'ack.. glitch'.. lemme know. jason |

In booth.php, in newest phpsitelog-unstable .tar.gz (20 mins ago) on line 6, you have: $name = crypt("phpWebLog_voted",$CONF["SiteKey"); which should be $name = crypt("phpWebLog_voted",$CONF["SiteKey"]); ^ :-) -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- Theodore Baschak - Gecko Internet Services http://www.gecko-internet.com -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- "DOS addresses only 1 Megabyte of RAM because we cannot imagine any applications needing more." - Microsoft, 1980, on the development of DOS "Windows NT addresses 2 Gigabytes of RAM which is more than any application will ever need" - Microsoft, 1992, on the development of Windows NT |

hi guys, question : where is the best place to report bugs? 1. phpweblog.org - they get lost and eventually overrun by other topics. also, some don't notice info in blocks, just ignore. if done, please enable html for this topic ;) 2. mailinglist - lost, huh, who, what, where? 3. forum - this would be nice, like a phorum. using phpweblog vs phorum for this is a tough decision. idk, maybe we're asking a bit to much from her. 4. sourceforge - to "permanent" for some of the "bugs" reported. this is more of a place where developers post bugs, IMHO, not common idiots like myself. also, it isn't very open for discussion. 5. make jason dl all versions of php and *nix and test every conceivable combo. ;) i assume phpweblog will win out. if so, we'll need a link such as : ---------------- Report BUGS Here ---------------- i think this would be very good...as bugs do exist and always will but with a system in place for structured communication vs random bits all over the place, this can be dealt with. this goes for feature requests as well but isn't nearly as important, yet. discuss. -- philip olson using freeBSD and proud, why don't she like me :] -- |

btw, we should be able to choose either : 1. YES I have GD available on my server or 2. NO I do NOT have GD on my server as that would avoid errors (right?) such as : Fatal error: Call to unsupported or undefined function imagecreatefromgif() in inc.d/common.inc.php on line 792 as at current my server does not enable this function ;( it will once i ask but it would be nice to enable/disable such image creation functionality vs having nasty error... philip |

Hi, The new PhpWeblog is really nice! Here's a problem I'm having: I set the email comments to yes in the config but can't seem to get any mail sent to the author when a comment is posted. No error either. Emails can be sent to story and comment authors ok. Anybody else have this, or is it sth with my setup (FreeBSD, PHP4, Apache)? I haven't changed anything. It's a fresh install with a clean database... Brian |
