Using a semi-sort-of-clean install of 0.2.4. I edited header.inc (the style bit) to make all the text either 10 point or 8 point, as opposed to the default 12 or 10 point text, and now all my news boxes run off the right side of the screen. (See http://nerdcore.org/stories.php3 for example) ... It didn't do that before. Editing the table attributes in F_Article() didn't give me the results I want. Any ideas? Thanks lots. _______________________________________________ Why pay for something you could get for free? NetZero provides FREE Internet Access and Email http://www.netzero.net/download/index.html |

in my opinion, this is a bad idea. you should try as far as possible to
avoid relying on global settings like this when local solutions exist. this
makes it difficult to integrate different PHP projects when each depends on
different settings.

Currently, there are no calls to addslahes() in phpWebLog in order for
PHP to do it automatically using magic_quotes_gpc. If your server has
magic_quotes_gpc disabled in php.ini, you may be able to override this
setting with the proper .htaccess file. Here is an example:
<IfModule mod_php3.c>
php3_magic_quotes_gpc On
php3_magic_quotes_runtime Off
php3_magic_quotes_sybase Off
</IfModule>
<IfModule mod_php4.c>
php_value magic_quotes_gpc On
php_value magic_quotes_runtime Off
php_value magic_quotes_sybase Off
</IfModule>

Use PHP's "addslashes()" to fix this quote problem (in the content

Ooh. I didn't realize this. If the conflicting variable is $id, this has been changed to $story in the unstable. If it is something else, maybe someone will report it. Banner support will be added shortly as well... Although it will not be anywhere as comprehensive as phpAds. Jason |

It's using phpPolls simply by adding the required code into blocks.inc. I do have all original poll code to add to phpWebLog, which should be added into the unstable later today, or tomorrow. David Bettis contributed this. Jason > "Stephen Lawrence Jr." wrote: > > I just noticed that in http://incentive.plik.net/ they have polls in a > block. This was contributed by JasonW of securitygeeks.com, and has been included in the latest unstable. I agree, it's great. Jason > "Stephen Lawrence Jr." wrote: > > Wow! when inserting text with a ' in it .. like in "I've[...]" i get a mysql
error like:

('1','Joerg','ro...@ju...','http://www.justbe.com','i'm playing with the
php's ...so ignore this comment ;)',now())

It still doesn't seem to be showing up correctly; the link just shows up as
plain text (to see an
example go to http://nerdcore.org -- it would be the first article I am
referring to). I think this
may be related to another rather large problem I'm having: When I edit
stories under the
admin menu, it tells me my changes are saved, but the changes never show up.
I upgraded -- sort of manually and chunkily -- from v.0.2.2 and I think I
managed to get all
the types right in the MySQL database, if that would have anything to do
with it... Am utterly
confused here. If anyone can offer some help, please let me know...

I do not have a clean diff for this fix, but here is a manual fix for
0.2.4:
links.php3 line 28:
> printf("\thref\t= \"portal.php3?url=%s&what=link&id=%s\">%s</a> %s",
> $A["URL"],$A["Rid"],$A["Title"],$tmp);
becomes:
printf("\thref\t= \"portal.php3?url=%s&what=link&id=%s\">%s</a>
%s",
urlencode($A["URL"]),$A["Rid"],$A["Title"],$tmp);

I modified them slightly... in inc.d/common.inc.php3 on about line 100
(where the following code is:
if ($CONF["AllowHTML"]==0) {
change the whole block starting there down to print($s); to
if ($CONF["AllowHTML"]==0) {
$tmp = stripslashes($A["Content"]);
} elseif ($CONF["AllowHTML"]==1) {
$tmp = htmlspecialchars(stripslashes($A["Content"]));
} elseif ($CONF["AllowHTML"]==2) {
$tmp = $A["Content"];
// $tmp = strip_tags(stripslashes($A["Content"]));
}
$art = !empty($len) ? substr(strip_tags($tmp),0,$len) . " ... " :
$tmp;
$s .= nl2br($art);
$s .= "<br>\n";
That will show HTML when you are showing the story, but not in the
previews..

i'm not sure how typical this is but my host does not allow me to drop tables so for example, to get tables.sql to import, i have to delete lines such as : DROP TABLE IF EXISTS T_Blocks; also, imho, tables.sql should contain at least one piece of information in some of the tables. for example, the news story may say : hello and welcome to phpweblog! this is a news story, to delete go to <admin>. the default password is 'password' and you'll want to change this. amd perhaps other instruction / tips and general words of wisdom. |
