this bug has to do with editing/cleaning up 2nd+ level places... my GED(s) don't seem to have the country on the PLAC entries so i'm cleaning all these up by adding it... here's the scenerio... 1. in the places list, i choose Alambama... 2. in the Alabama list, i choose Tallapoosa... 3. in the Tallapoosa list, the page shows "unknown" as a place hierarchy after Tallapoosa... there are several individuals listed in the chart... 4. i click on each person's name to edit their record... 5. i edit their RAW GEDCOM record to tack the country on to each of their PLAC entries... this bug doesn't care how the edits are done, though... 6. when all edits are complete, i use the BACK button on my browser to return to the Tallapoosa list (same place as #3)... 7. *here's the bug...* when the page (re)loads, it should not show anything in the chart but (_the bug_) it shows all of the entries for Alabama even though the top center of the page says that the entries should only be for "Tallapoosa, Alabama"... granted, the entries just edited do not show in the resulting chart, it is "confusing"... 8. i hit the BACK button again and get the expected listing (same as #2) and then i choose another "county" location to work with... this bug is repeatable... -- NOTE: NEW EMAIL ADDRESS!! _\/ (@@) Waldo Kitty, Waldo's Place USA __ooO_( )_Ooo_____________________ telnet://bbs.wpusa.dynip.com _|_____|_____|_____|_____|_____|_____ http://www.wpusa.dynip.com ____|_____|_____|_____|_____|_____|____ ftp://ftp.wpusa.dynip.com _|_Eat_SPAM_to_email_me!_YUM!__|_____ wkitty42 -at- windstream.net --- avast! seems that i've found another bug... this one dealing with < (greater than) and > (less than) symbols... it seems that my huge gedcom contains these entities around numerous entries... the one that just triggered this email was one around an entire PLAC entry... the place hierarchy screen showed the entry but the records containing the entry didn't show anything... i had to "edit the raw gedcom record" to finally find the entry... all i did, at that point, was to remove the "html tag markers" and save the entry... then things appeared and were able to be properly edited... the PLAC gedcom tag is not the only source that i see of these entries in my gedcom(s)... they appear in numerous other places and on some editing screens, they are displayed as linked objects that can (supposedly) be edited... -- NOTE: NEW EMAIL ADDRESS!! _\/ (@@) Waldo Kitty, Waldo's Place USA __ooO_( )_Ooo_____________________ telnet://bbs.wpusa.dynip.com _|_____|_____|_____|_____|_____|_____ http://www.wpusa.dynip.com ____|_____|_____|_____|_____|_____|____ ftp://ftp.wpusa.dynip.com _|_Eat_SPAM_to_email_me!_YUM!__|_____ wkitty42 -at- windstream.net --- avast! i've evidently found two bugs in a clean, new install of v4.1.5 on a *nix box... 1) when installing a gedcom, after importing, the import page still shows that the gedcom has not been imported... going to edit the (already) edited conf file and then returning removes the erroneous message... 2) with an admin account, the session expires with "remember me" selected... however, if you do anything "normal", there's no "admin" link under the logout field (on the simplygreen theme)... if you go to do anything that requires admin privs, you're told to "reaffirm" your credentials on the login page for added security however, once you do, you're logged /out/ and have to login all over again :( -- NOTE: NEW EMAIL ADDRESS!! _\/ (@@) Waldo Kitty, Waldo's Place USA __ooO_( )_Ooo_____________________ telnet://bbs.wpusa.dynip.com _|_____|_____|_____|_____|_____|_____ http://www.wpusa.dynip.com ____|_____|_____|_____|_____|_____|____ ftp://ftp.wpusa.dynip.com _|_Eat_SPAM_to_email_me!_YUM!__|_____ wkitty42 -at- windstream.net --- avast! Google Webmaster Tools likes to have unique meta descriptions. (http://www.google.com/support/webmasters/bin/answer.py?answer=35264&hl=en). An easy way to add this is to make the description equal to the title. I'm sure a much better description could be thought of than this, but this works for the impatient. includes/functions_print.php: - if (!empty($META_DESCRIPTION)) print "<meta name=\"description\" content=\"".preg_replace("/\"/", "", $META_DESCRIPTION)."\" />\n"; + if (!empty($title)) print "<meta name=\"description\" content=\"".PrintReady(strip_tags($title)." - ".$META_TITLE, TRUE)."\" />\n"; |

I am a new user. I installed PGV 4.1.5 and successfully uploaded a gedcom file. I've added some images and updated some information for a few individuals, like birth dates, spouses, etc. I now would like to try to export the gedcom file using the download feature before I start adding many more individuals, but I am not able to export it successfully. Any help or suggestions would be appreciated. If I click on the "Check if GEDCOM files are downloadable" link in the manage gedcom dialog menu, I get the following message: "./index/family.ged cannot be downloaded." When I click on the "Check" link on the far right of the line for the gedcom, then click "Show", no errors occur. If I click the "download" link, and then click the "Download now" button, with default settings, nothing is downloaded. All that shows on the page are the letters "PK" Thanks, Leo |

I'm actually experiencing that exact same problem with the latest 4.1 SVN trunk. My "production" 4.1.5 does not do this. I found that if I explicity set $SERVER_URL in config.php (and make sure it ends with a '/') that this is no longer a problem. I was looking at how to fix it last night but ran out of time so I am hoping to get to it tonight or tomorrow. bd On Thu, Aug 7, 2008 at 12:18 PM, Jonathan Mueller <bon...@gm...>wrote: > I have been receiving a similar problem. I have been receiving a similar problem. After login, it tries to redirect to index.php, which my browser interprets as http://index.php, which doesn't exist. I can then reload my PhpGedView and be logged in. Kind of annoying, but I haven't looked through the code to find the problem, but I think the code should look for the root of the website and append the index.php. Hi Brian, Thanks for the time you've spent with my problem. In the meantime, I've made a test. I installed PGV 4.1.5 completely new into a seperate directory and it works. Then I called my provider to cancel my whole "www2"-test site and make a new copy from my original site where 4.1.3 is properly running. I think, there was a crash in the user database. I will let you know the result if you like. Many thanks Mit freundlichen Grüßen Kind Regards Josef Thomalla ----------------------- Grasweg 17 D-33415 Verl Deutschland/Germany eMail: jo...@th...
