Hi, I'm slow getting the hang of PGV. Each time you add a fact or edit a fact. On completion of the operation the window remains open to say the update was successful. The only option/link is to close the window. Is there a way to auto close the window? When I go into Research assistant. If a person looks like they might have done Military Service in WWI, WWII, Korea and so on Research assistant Flags "Missing Information" I have added the Military Service for one person but still I see the message. What do I need to add to Suppress that. Regards. Tom. |

My apology for my ignorance, but can you tell me where I must type this command line? I use a hosting servers and I have created a database. This is the database: Database : phpview Login : romy1962 Password: ******** If you want, I can send the Password (I can change this when everything is OK) so you can self see what has happened. Are you using a hosting service? Have you created the database and database user? Depending on how you answered the first question, you can run a command like: mysql -u romy1962 -p -h genealogie2.rob-hubert.nl -D phpview If you have the permissions setup correctly and the phpview database created you should be able to login and be in the MySQL interactive prompt. If you made it this far you can see what tables you have by entering "SHOW TABLES;". After that you can exit with ^D (control+d) or type "\q" and hit enter. If you cannot login from the command line then you'll need to look at the permissions for your MySQL server. Doesn't look like anything too crazy going on there. Have you tried to connect to the database via the command line? It could be a permission issue with the db. This is the error message: == De huidige databaseconfiguratie is corrupt. Controleer de database-verbindingsparameters en configureer opnieuw. I can only second this. My PGV database consists of 8 Gedcom files for separate family lines, mainly because of size (biggest file has about 15.000 entities) and access control. The relationships between my children and their grandparents goes through 3 gedcoms, and e.g. the circle diagram only supports 1 level of linking. From your message it seems that relationship charts do not support linking at all. I've seen several display errors related to linking, especially when I previously used the same ID for different persons in different files (e.g. the Close Relatives banner and various reports would show the wrong linked name, mixing S1:I1 with S2:I1). I suspect the culprit is shortcomings in the basic entity access functions or that 1) the various specialized functions don't use the basic access functions or 2) they over-optimize access. I'm not complaining. I've no right to, I've not even reported the bugs I've found (shame on me!) It would be nice to know, however, which reports are supposed to support a) 2 or b) several levels of linkage. I've noticed that every new release seems to improve on the issues I've described above. I'm also very happy with the activity level of the PGV project, and grateful to the developers for all the hours they put into PGV. Is it possible to generate a relationship chart across multiple ged files in PGV? I was able to link two ged files by a common person (this person is in both ged files), but have been unable to create a relationship between two people who are only in one of the files? for example, I have one ged file for my own family, and one for my wife's family. I can create a relationship between my daughter and my father-in-law, because they both in my wife's file; but I could not create a relationship between my wife's sister and my grandfather: my wife's sister is only in my wife's file, and my grandfather is only in my file. My wife is in both files, and her name was used to link the two files. Any help would be greately appreciated Bin |

Hi List, is there a way to create a search with 2 given names like "Frank + Elisabeth" with the result, that PGV shows a list with all marriages with a "Frank" and "Elisabeth" List result like : Husband Wife wedding ---------------------------------------------- Frank Name 1 + Elisabeth Name 13.12.2222 Frank Name 2 + Elisabeth Name 17.17.3333 Frank Paul Name 3 + Elisabeth Name 18.18.3333 Mit freundlichen Grüßen Kind Regards Josef Thomalla ----------------------- Grasweg 17 D-33415 Verl Deutschland/Germany eMail: jo...@th... i'm working with PGV 4.1.5rel CORE... without the sitemap module what are spiders like googlebot going to see? what are other spiders (ie: msn, yahoo, etc) going to see? how many spiders are actually recognized? the reason i ask is that my site(s) are regularly "gobbled" by all of the major SE spiders and probably 1/2 of the secondary level spiders... i'm not to the point of being ready to let any of them in but i want to protect myself, further than robots.txt and .htaccess, from them and then to be able to provide specific access to certain ones and not all of them... so, where do i stand and how can i ensure that i can protect my 24000+ IND, 9800+ MAR, site from being ransacked??? this is especially important as i've not yet found a way to (internally) set server-a for select and server-b for update/add/replace queries... i hope to be placing a "interface" or possible a "why can't i" "bug" report... i just don't know how to list such with two slave database servers that i want/need to distribute the queries over :? :( ideally, my setup would make queries to one server and then lookup, on a round robin, where to make update/replace/initial entries... so, is there any help for me at this point or is this something for v5 or v6?? ;) -- NOTE: NEW EMAIL ADDRESS!! _\/ (@@) Waldo Kitty, Waldo's Place USA __ooO_( )_Ooo_____________________ telnet://bbs.wpusa.dynip.com _|_____|_____|_____|_____|_____|_____ http://www.wpusa.dynip.com ____|_____|_____|_____|_____|_____|____ ftp://ftp.wpusa.dynip.com _|_Eat_SPAM_to_email_me!_YUM!__|_____ wkitty42 -at- windstream.net --- avast! Depending on when and where, there had been different kinds of new year, like Jan 1st, Mar 25th, Dec 25th, Eastern and others. So, the @#DJULIAN@ tag just makes PhpGedView calculate the proper _day_, but you would have to adjust the year manually if it didn't start on Jan 1st. AFAIK. Regards, Duesterhoeft |

i've numerous gedcom records that are dated using the julian calendar format. this format, as i understand it, starts the new year on March 25th and not Jan 1st... how can i indicate, in each date field, that it is a julian calendar date so that the age is figured properly? ie: for Henry Boone, son of George Boone (II)... i have the following raw gedcom source data... i don't know what the _ITALIC and _PAREN entries are for and phpGedView v4.1.5rel is reporting them as an error and to notify the site manager... well, i'm the site manager ;) 0 @S457@ SOUR 1 TITL Finch Families of Dixie: 300 Years in the South 1 AUTH Ruby Finch THOMPSON 1 PUBL Copyright 1972 1 CALN Library of Congress Catalog Card Number 72-94379 1 _ITALIC Y 1 _PAREN Y i suspect that these may be for display purposes of the source in the records... _ITALIC Y would seem to indicate to use an italic font... i would also suppose that _PAREN Y would indicate to place paren's () around the displayed entry... now, if those parens are also italic or not, i don't know... however, a quick look in PAF4 and PAF5 at entries with this source does not show this source in italics or wrapped with parens... this gedcom was generated from PAF5 (for various reasons) but the PAF database is normally managed by PAF4... i don't know if this source was originally put into the database with PAF2, PAF3 or possibly and old DOS version of Brother's Keeper... -- NOTE: NEW EMAIL ADDRESS!! _\/ (@@) Waldo Kitty, Waldo's Place USA __ooO_( )_Ooo_____________________ telnet://bbs.wpusa.dynip.com _|_____|_____|_____|_____|_____|_____ http://www.wpusa.dynip.com ____|_____|_____|_____|_____|_____|____ ftp://ftp.wpusa.dynip.com _|_Eat_SPAM_to_email_me!_YUM!__|_____ wkitty42 -at- windstream.net --- avast! that's what i was thinking and why i asked which archive you downloaded and installed... it made even more sense because the gallery2 stuff is an add-on module ;) i started with the core files and am adding the stuff that i want... much easier than installing the whole she-bang and then trying to figure out how to remove the stuff you don't want ;) thanks for posting the solution... it is what i was going to tell you to try next...
