Hi Rodney, It appears from this line of your error: ../../web/phpGedView/Hall.ged That you have change the value of the INDEX_DIRECTORY in the PhpGedView = configuration to your PhpGedView folder. Under the default installation = it should be trying to move to the ../../web/phpGedView/index/Hall.ged To change the index directory, go to editconfig.php or = Admin->Configuration and change the value of the Index Directory to be = ./index/ or another directory that has the proper write permissions set. If you want to change the index directory to something other than = "./index/", then the directory needs to have write permissions set. = Because of this it is not recommended that you use the phpGedView = directory as your INDEX_DIRECTORY. --John > -----Original Message----- > From: php...@li...=20 > [mailto:php...@li...] On=20 > Behalf Of Rodney Hall > Sent: Sunday, February 29, 2004 4:38 AM > To: php...@li... > Subject: Trouble uploading GEDCOM - Pls help! >=20 >=20 > Having changed my server to one with the latest version of=20 > PHP and also > using the latest phpGedView, I have created the user,=20 > database etc. but > cannot get the GEDCOM to upload. Hi there - first post to the list! Is there a quick way (presumably in index.php) so that the default view is Descendancy rather than Pedigree? Still finding my way around the scripts! It would be quite useful if one could define different Root Persons for Pedigree and Descendancy too! Hello John, Yes, thanks for that. I've had a read through the thread you gave me and have changed every instance of $_SERVER to $HTTP_SERVER_VARS but it still will not run. It does seem that I must run PHP 4.1.0 or better, but my host cannot alter from 4.0.6 for some reason. I would change host, but they have been exceptionally good in all respects and don't want to leave them. I'm thinking of installing my own server with the latest PHP and running on that, but right after the Christmas expense, that will have to wait! :o) Regards -- Rodney Hall Dum spiro spero While I breathe, I hope ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ rm...@rm... http://rmhh.co.uk/ http://rmhh.org.uk/ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ > -----Original Message----- > From: John Finlay [mailto:Joh...@by...] > Sent: 01 January 2004 23:27 > To: Rodney Hall; php...@li... > Subject: RE: [Phpgedview-talk] Php GedView Installation problem > > Hi Rodney, > > Unfortunately PHP version 4.0.6 does not support the $_SERVER > super global variable. > > I don't know if anyone has successfully installed on 4.0.6. > There was recently a discussion on this in the help forums > here: > http://sourceforge.net/forum/forum.php?thread_id=984363&forum_ > id=185166 > > --John > |

Tymoteusz, What happens when you go the Pedigree Tree? Do you get similar errors = there? It seems like you didn't finish importing the GEDCOM file into the Index = files. L.S, I am using PhpGedView for 5 days by now. A great tool. I should have know before. Is this a known problem? - when reading (by importgedcom.php) more than 1 GEDCOM file I got problems when using the top located search command. symptons: * when opening the search command I got two frames. I used the left one. * when entering a given name in it (i.e. Dirk) I got several answers * the names I got are from both GEDCOM files * some of the related items (places and dates) obviously are on a base of I<nr> index only from the first GEDCOM file loaded ??? To all of you, After some debugging I found out that: - I inserted a (root) username for myself in mysql with phpmyadmin but forgot to activate it. - after activation it works well remarks: If I had used the default root with no password all had gone well ==Can there be a remark put in the README about this. For those only using PHP, MYSQL and phpGedView for genealogy this can help very much and would give the excellent product a wider range of users. ==The README file should be corrected for use of mysql. I just recently become aware of the possiblities of mysql, php and phpgedview so the problem may be due to misunderstanding. after I installed php, apache and mySQL (and activated Apache and mySQL) on my pc with windows 2000 I tried to start up with http://localhost/php_gedview_mySQL. (the mysql gedview sources are in php_gedview_mySQL) I got the following error --together with the HTTP-form with database name and other settings from gedview-- in red "Your current database configuration is bad. Please check your database connection parameters and configure again." What did I do wrong? Directory structure is: C:/Apache ->/htdocs ->phpadmin ->php_gedview_mySQL ->/mySQL (programs) ->/other directories Dick Dick Kaas Penningkruid 32 NL 3984 BK Odijk tel M&I: +31 33 4 220 220 tel thuis: +31 30 65 63 999 e-mail M&I: dic...@mx... e-mail thuis: di...@ka... |
