Greetings -- I set up accounts for my students and ran into this problem. 1. I told the student the login was Rosch-197F 2. The login screen disregards case -- it accepts Rosch-197F, rosch-197f, ROSCH-197F, whatever 3. Other parts of the program are case sensitive -- for instance, activating a survey So if you log in as rosch-197F and design a survey, and then later log in as Rosch-197F, you won't be able to activate it. Shouldn't we be checking for case all the way? Cheers, David |

Mike, are you running PHP in CGI mode? It's going to give you too much grief, with phpESP in particular. You should really run php as apache module. Your server is running PHP as a CGI. THis affects phpESP's ability to authenticate. Search the FAQ and mail archives for possible workarounds. Greetings, I have just installed phpesp and the process was simple and straight forward. The data base is up and working and test.php returns the info at the end of this email. A couple of days ago i posted a msg regarding some authentication problems I was having with esp. The web host I'm using has told me they don't run PHP as an Apache module/library. Rather as a cgi binary. I suspect this may be why I'm having trouble with http authentication. Can anyone provide any insight into this? you can try to view the esp installation i'm setting up here www.optimumenergy.com/phpesp/admin notice how it redirects to the /cgi-bin. if you go direct to the manage page http://www.optimumenergy.com/phpesp/admin/manage.php username: root pass: esp (the default u/p) you can see that the authentication just doesn't work. Again, insight and reccommendations appreciated. thanks -kevin |

phpESP requires PHP be compiled as an Apache module and will not authenticate properly if PHP is run as a CGI. Check the FAQ and mailing list archives for more explanation and possible work arounds. I'm doing a fresh installation of phpesp for a new project and I am having quite a bit of trouble with http-authentication. I don't think the method that is being used by phpesp is combatible with my web host. I've setup phpesp before and never had this problem. basically with a fresh installation, the username and password to access the /admin/manage.php page should be: root esp this isn't working on my new installation. i keep getting kicked back to the authentication dialogue. is it possible to turn off authentication via a setting one of the config or library files for phpesp? ----------------------------------------------------- KEVIN field ::. |

Export the results and delete the offending row before analyzing. A way to delete a single result from the management interface might make sense. Feel free to submit a RFE on Sourceforge for it.
