Hello everyone. I was wondering if someone could let me know a bit more about how the back/forward feature works in relation to user accounts and groups. Specifically, I have a survey that is private and a groups of people who I want to have fill it out. I set up a respondent account named "person" and added it to group "group" (those are made up of course). I went to the access page and said that the survey is private and that I will accept 600 responses from group "group." I was wondering if the enabling of the back button would be a problem given that the login is being shared by a large number of respondents. If the back functionality stored locally, so that multiple people would all see their own data, or is it stored centrally in the db with the associated login, so someone hitting back might see another person's responses? Unfortunately with the population we work with we cannot set up individual login accounts, but I am hopeful that we will be able to activate the back button for this group in the future. I would like to be able to run surveys that are part of a decision making process, and I like phpESP proposed design #1. Thank you for any tips, tricks or comments. In fact, the phpESP database already has a field to use for this purpose (public). It should be fairly simple for someone proficient in PHP (and SQL) to add in code to check this field when generating survey results for a non-authenticated user (i.e. the public). It might be a little bit more involved to code up an addition to the designer interface to actually set this field. I imagine most people on the phpESP-devel list are also on -general, but if there is not much response here, you could ask/prod/beg/bribe on the -devel list for someone to implement this feature. I could provide a general outline of how I was planning on implementing the feature, but cannot do the work myself at this point. -James |

Last week I had a question about making ESP survey results public. Which was answered. Now, my question is: Can you make survey results public, but hide certain questions from public view? Specifically, I have an 11 question survey. The first 10 questions are choose one response (radio button). The final question is an essay, or open comments question. I would like to allow the respondent, after submission to view the cummulative results for the survey, but only the first 10 questions, and hide the essay question responses from the public view. I would like the essay question to only be accessible in the administrator views. Currently I'm making responses publicly viewable using the method indicated last week by James: <snip> You can make public results by doing the following, though note that it will make all results public. Make a copy of public/survey.php and add a line like: $results = 1; above the call to handler-prefix, then use that page just like the survey.php page. It should display results instead of the survey. Also note that the same applies to custom survey templates, setting $results to one before calling handler{-prefix} will switch to results mode. </snip> Thanks for any help . Kevin |

Justin, You seem to be using the php-nuke version of phpESP. The php-nuke version was made by Eric Esselink of nettrade.nl. I am not involved with the php-nuke version. However, it does seem that what you need is to specify a survey name as in: .../modules.php?name=phpESP&surveyname=foo Perhaps other people on the list may be better able to help you with the php-nuke version. -James JRh...@ao... wrote: > I am having problems with phpESP here: > > www.teenymcavote.org/yvotemembers/ > <http://www.teenymcavote.org/yvotemembers/> under "TAKE A SURVEY" in the > menu > > but I don't know why or how to fix. I am having problems with phpESP here: www.teenymcavote.org/yvotemembers/ under "TAKE A SURVEY" in the menu but I don't know why or how to fix. It also looks like there may be a new version out too-- but I don't know how to install. I talked my web-host to install one, but only after much begging because they have told me many times they don't offer support to do that. Also, it looks like you all are responsible for making this -- I have to say this is by far one of the coolest, and greatest contributions on the internet. Especially for us smaller nonprofits who really benefit from surveys and stuff -- and students. Thank you. Justin |

Hi Kevin, 1) Login to the Survey Manager 2) View Results of a Survey 3) From the browser, select File|Save As and save the results as a .php file 4) Publish the .php file with the results to your web site. lars. >>> "KEVIN field" <ke...@7t...> 04/13/04 8:25 AM >>> Hi, I'm looking for advice/help from anyone who has customized phpESP to make a survey's results public. Hi, I'm looking for advice/help from anyone who has customized phpESP to make a survey's results public. By default viewing the graphed results of a survey can only be done from the survey manager, which requires an http-authenticated login. I'm interested in taking a specific survey and publishing the graphed results to a publicly viewable section of a website, so any survey respondent could see the survey results. If anyone has made this customization, or has any advice to facilitate this type of feature, I'd appreciate some insight. Thanks Kevin |

Ron, Groupwise's "vacation message" function is horribly broken. It doesn't understand it's not supposed to send replies to mailing lists. So, every phpesp-general list digest you receive creates a vacation response back to the phpesp-general list which in turn creates another digest message to you, that creates another vacation message to the list, and so on and so on and so on...... If you're forced to use GW's vacation response, please create exceptions for any mail lists you are subscribed to or consider disabling mail delivery from the SF MailMan control panel[1] while on vacation. [1] http://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/phpesp-general ^enter your subscribed mailing address and select Edit Options. However, if you're using save/restore or multi-page surveys, caching this way might be a problem. You should also look into optimizing your Apache and mySQL daemon configurations as well. Normally out of the box, Apache and mySQL aren't configured to handle something like this nicely. Organization: The ITLab @ MUSC Date: Fri, 02 Apr 2004 10:38:17 -0500 What kind of hardware will it be run on? =3D3D3D20 Saving the survey page and adding a few indexes as you mentioned sound like good ideas. =3D3D20 Saving the survey page and adding a few indexes as you mentioned sound like good ideas. However, if you're using save/restore or multi-page surveys, caching this way might be a problem. You should also look into optimizing your Apache and mySQL daemon configurations as well. Normally out of the box, Apache and mySQL aren't configured to handle something like this nicely.
