Looks pretty accurate to me (before breakfast).  What did
you use to create that?  It might be a handy thing to
include in docs/, but I'd like to have the source available
for future modifications.

You need to edit handler.php, handler-prefix.php and survey.php
under "pathtoyourphpesp/public" directory, to point to your
phpESP.ini.

Hi all,

I'm trying to install v1.5 on a $10/month linux
hosting account, so I don't have the ability to
install the code in the suggested
'/usr/local/lib/php/contrib/phpESP' location (least I
don't think I can)

With DEBUG on in the phpESP.ini file, I see the
following reported in the SERVER_SOFTWARE variable:

Apache/1.3.26 (Unix) mod_bwlimited/1.0 PHP/4.2.2
mod_log_bytes/0.3 FrontPage/5.0.2.2510 mod_ssl/2.8.9
OpenSSL/0.9.6b

The Management Interface seems to work fine. I can
make/edit/kill surveys. The problem comes in when try
to actually take a survey, from the constructed URL
the FINISH tab displays, such as:
http://www.mydomain.com/phpESP/public/survey.php?name=Marketing_Survey

I get the dreaded "can not find your includes ...
check your ini settings" error. I've spent about a day
on this error. 

If I go to pspESP.ini and insert the debugging line:

echo($ESPCONFIG['include_path'].'/funcs'.$ESPCONFIG['extension']);

immediately in front of the error code, I get:

include/funcs.inc

I've kept the phpESP directory structure intact (no
mods). 

Here's some possibly pertinent info from the phpESP
DEBUG facility:

It is not in use (AFAIK).  I think I added it to the table
for that exact purpose, but never added the code to PHP.

a scan of the code turned up nothing for me. if not, i'd like to repurpose 
it for holding a default value for a given question choice. if there is 
interest, i'd be happy to post a patch when i'm done.

If you are using the CVS version after my recent
changes, then it's probably a recent bug.  I rewrote a big
part of lib/espresponse.inc to eliminate code duplication.

Hi Guys,

It appears that the creation of the csv file doesn't handle the !other
field correctly when it is associated with radio button question types.
However it renders correctly when you "view results of a survey".

Is this a recent bug or has it been around for a while. I do recall a
a similar bug with !other and the checkbox question type.

Hi Guys,

Im wanting to update the faqs and introduce a tutorial for phpESP
but need some clarification on the numeric question type and the
use of the precision and length fields.

As I see it, and please let me know if this is incorrect, when the
length is specified for a numeric question type both the size of
the text box and the maxlength are affected. This is also true when
only the precision field is specified/set.

Example. I want the user to submit a number that has no more than 5 digits
so I set the precision
to 5 hoping that the maxlength is set at 5 but what really happens is that
the 5 (precision) is added to the default length (which is 10) and 1 is
added
to allow for the number to be signed so in actual fact the maxlength ends up
being
16. Furthermore the length field is also changed to 16.

I can understand adding 1 to allow for sign but what's the purpose of adding
the length
to the precision? Is precision meant to be used to indicate the number of
decimal places?

Also am I right in saying that the only other question types where length
and precision
have any affect are for the rate(scale 1..5)type, the text box type and the
essay box type
with the date type having a noneditable default length of 10 and precision
of 10?

Here's another one for you.
When I activate my surveys (either public or private) and then
proceed to take them I get an "[ Error processing survey: Survey not
specified. ]" error message.Closer examination of survey.php reveals
that the "if ($_result = mysql_query($_sql))" on line 24 fails.
mysql_error() returns "NO DATABASE SPECIFIED".

The column you are referring to, survey.status, is a bit
field.  See the bitmask definitions here:
  phpesp.sf.net/cvs/admin/include/funcs.inc?rev=.

You are seeing correct behavior.

 in survey table they get the status number 4 when archiv it form an inactiv
status
status number 5 when archiv an activ survey!
