On Windows 11, double-click pwsafe systray icon does not setfocus to password input field.

Prior to Widnows 11, typical pwsafe behavior would allow you to double-click on the green "locked safe" pwsafe systray icon causing the password entry dialog box to pop up with focus set to the password entry field.

On Windows 11, double-clicking on that icon does not have the same effect except when I double-click immediately after locking the database.

Steps:
1. Safe is open, dismiss pwsafe, right-click systray, choose to lock the safe.
2. Double-click the now green pwsafe systray icon, the password entry dialog appears as expected with keyboard focus in the password entry field.
3. Dismiss pwsafe, right-click systray, choose to lock the safe.
4. Double-click the now green pwsafe systray icon, the password entry dialog appears as expected. Do not enter the password but dismiss the dialog.
5. Double-click the now green pwsafe systray icon, the password entry dialog appears as expected, notice how keyboard focus is not in the password entry field.

The above steps show the inconsistency but I notice whenever I double-click the pwsafe systray icon for a locked safe, the password entry field never has focus. Instead, a systray window in the Explorer process retains focus.

This issue does not occur on Win10 but has been observed on two Win11 systems.

Verified in build v3.63 via pwsafe64-3.63.0.msi.

I'm on v3.63 and I still have this issue. It's been driving me nuts since I upgraded to Windows 11.

Did you use double-click or single left-click? From v3.63 forward, pwsafe uses the typical app behavior of a single left-click to present its window. If you double-click, it will certainly gain then immediately lose focus despite the change.

I still experience this issue in Windows 10 with v3.63. In my case I have Password Safe set to lock the password database after X minutes idle, but not to the system tray. Once the password database locks I click on the password safe icon in the Windows 10 task bar and I see the Enter Password dialog with the cursor flashing inside it. If I start typing nothing happens, but if I click in the Password box first I can type in the password and open the safe.

My bug report was this one: https://sourceforge.net/p/passwordsafe/bugs/1358/ that has since been closed but was never really resolved.

Looks like the issue still exists for some people in both windows 10 and 11.

The issue of this ticket relates to Password Safe's default configuration to "Put icon in System Tray" and system tray anomalies around Windows 11 updates (i.e., this bug 1572 and does not occur on Windows 10). This issue 1572 did not exist through to the initial Windows 11 release, where a subsequent Windows 11 update affecting system focus handling was incidentally a breaking change for Password Safe's System Tray focus handling.

The issue you are seeing is unrelated to system tray anomalies and is covered by long-standing bug 1049 which goes back to 2012. It relates to modifying Password Safe's default configuration to use the taskbar instead of the system tray.

Thanks for your report... even though the issues are technically different, they logically fit under the umbrella UX category of "restore password entry focus issues." I've updated the "taskbar" ticket to reflect that issue (the one you are seeing) still occurs on both Windows 10 and Windows 11.
