Hi, I am curently running synce and evo2 plugin over a usb serial conection and everything work relatively fine with my audivox smt5600. I have set-up a bluetooth connection and made several test with gnome-obex-send and gone-obex-server and everything work A1. My goal is to use that bluetooth connection for syncing. I have tried to sync (Evo2-SynCE) over bluetooth but it doesnt sync. I would like to know, based on your experience, if I should use syncML or SynCE over a bluetooth connection? thanx for your help. (I can post log if needed) Mart |

Dear All, I have been a faithful multisync user for the past two years and suffered quite a lot of the VCARD conversion problem which forced me to stop syncing my Evolution 2.x agenda with my S55 which does not accomodate VCARDs format 3.0. That said, today I compiled all the necessary opensync stuff after downloading by svn and configured a group made of an evo2-sync plugin and an irmc-sync (actually, I found and customised to my needs the very XML config for the S55). When trying the sync I get this: marco@bravi:...tmp> msynctool --sync phone2evo > opensync.log 2>&1 Synchronizing group "phone2evo" The previous synchronization was unclean. Is there anybody willing to drop me some wisdom in configuring my opensync? Thanks a lot in advance! Marco Bravi |

Hi Gerik! I have the same phone and had the same trouble. Armin recommended to me to try the development branch and it worked better, but nevertheless crashed at some point. In the meantime the development branch was unusable, I do not know if it currently works but it might be worth a try. The crash when I tested it was very likely a bug in the phone, not related to libsyncml and I thought of upgrading the firmware ( from 2.39.15 currently), but at the moment I just can not afford to be without my phone for two weeks if the update breaks it. /tobi Am Freitag, den 31.03.2006, 17:53 +0200 schrieb Gerik Huland: > Hi, > > I am not successful with the symbian phone Nokia 6630 (very similar to 6680!) > and syncml. > Connecting etc. works fine, but I have a couple of errors: > > $ msynctool --sync file-syncmlobexclient > Synchronizing group "file-syncmlobexclient" > The previous synchronization was unclean. According to the manual, the phone supplies a bluetooth profile called "SyncML OBEX binding", so I guess I'll need to wait until opensync supports bluetooth transport. I'll happily test/troubleshoot this functionality when it is released. Thanks for the info. Jason. |

It basically works like this: > > - A device sends a change object in the format that the device supports. > - The change is then converted to the internal xml format to be able to > compare it to other change objects That's not the way to go. Like a device with its format is a "plugin" in opensync, the comparing should be done by a module/plugin, too!! If I wish to sync a directory to my mp3-player, I probably want a binary comparision, shortend by "it's fine if size, time stamp and name are the same". - I defintely don't want the files to be converted to some internal whatever, because I want exact copies. Syncing contacts I'm probably fine with converting them to different formats. Automatically, but maybe filterd, too. - E.g. changing phone numbers to/from international format so that the matching at a later state succeeds. > - If a conflict happens, the change is converted to a format specified > by the GUI, so that it can display the conflict to the user The GUI should be able to order an object in whatever format, on behalf of the user. E.g. "Problem: opensync helpless on object A" --> user says: "okay, present me that as vcard..., oh no, present that as binary, ah, lets tries to see it as "simple number <-> name format". - Okay, make matching with "xyz-matching" module and look for "Richard" --> one data set named "Richard" found --> JOIN..." Maybe the GUI can work like an extra device in a sync group. It should have the most complete data structures compared to it's other members and should be synced to first, dictating resolutions to the other members. > > -how can I dictate what data records of one member matches at an other? > > since all formats are converted internally to the xml format, you just > have to map the fields of one item to the fields of the xml format. At > the moment the internal format is not yet documented since we have to > change this format to allow merging of changes. This should be modular. And stackable. A match-module has at least two "sides" and a matching data base. It gets on one side new objects in a format the module likes, or it gets conflicting ones together with the last matching. It can now search on the other side for matching objects break the old or make new relations. It has the posibility to relate not 100% identical objects, provoking updates to one or both side with the related object. On similar devices (with the same native format) it would be nice to stack a binary match module on top... > > -can I add an stack of matching-modules to a sync group? > > E.g. I think about universal "join/split" modules. Okay, splitting is information loss, so, easy. Joining would be more powerfull with the help of sync group members with richer contact sets. - When the number 123 and 456 is already on the other side, the name is probably not so important. If I cant find "Richard work", but a "Richard", the number probably belongs to him... Bye, Robert |

I haven't tried syncing the phone using opensync or any other software, I have got it working as a modem and can use obex ftp to grab pics and music from the phone and to upload the same along with contacts and events. Having a look at the output of lsusb I don't think the phone supports syncml via usb. It does support it OTA but that isn't cheap or desirable. If I am wrong I apologise for the confusion caused by my ignorance. Cheers Dave |

Fedora core 5 openobex 1.2 expat-2.0.0 libopensync-0.18 libopensync-plugin-file-0.18 libsoup (vcs head) libsyncml (vcs head) multisync-0.90.18 syncml-plugin (vcs head) wbxml2-0.9.0 (patched) Hello, Just a status report on the SE K608i. It fails on the sync, however I am hopeful that it's something simple, and am willing to continue testing. Note that although the sync fails as described below, I am able to transfer files OK using obexftp over usb. I've been able to do a clean build/install with the configuration above, however, when I try and sync, I get the following: [root@pinback apps]# msynctool --sync sf Synchronizing group "sf" The previous synchronization was unclean. Slow-syncing Member 1 of type file-sync just connected Member 2 of type syncml-obex-client had an error while connecting: Request not successfull: 80 Member 1 of type file-sync just disconnected All clients have disconnected The sync failed: Unable to connect one of the members Error synchronizing: Unable to connect one of the members My log shows: Apr 2 15:22:36 pinback kernel: usb 1-1: usbfs: interface 1 claimed by cdc_acm while 'msynctool' sets config #1 Based on this message I guessed that it may be due to some sort of conflict with cdc_acm, so I did a "modprobe -r cdc_acm", but I still get the same result from msynctool, but without an accompanying error in the log. In case it helps, my phone reads "Session failed. Invalid server response". I am not sure how to proceed now - advice appreciated. |

Hi, when i try to get my nokia 6280 syncing over bluetooth, i cannot get a connection and I can't figure out why. Maybe you find the traces more informative than me and can help me to find a way the get it syncing. I installed the latest, obex, libsyncml, opensync, ... from svn and patched libsyncml for support bluetooth. Then I did the following: peter@samsung:~$ hcitool scan Scanning ... 00:15:DE:F0:93:20 Nokia 6280 peter@samsung:~$ export SYNCML_TRACE=3D/var/log/syncml/ peter@samsung:~$ syncml-obex-client -b 00:15:DE:F0:93:20 11 --sync vcal Calendar --wbxml connection with device succeeded Received an transport error Then my phone shows a "starting synchronisation"-dialog until I stop syncml-obex-client. After that it shows message, that nothing has been transfered and that I should check the connection. When I try using msynctool (i used file and the syncml-obex plugins) like this: msynctool --sync fileobex --wait and then try to start sync from my mobile phone I cat a connection error message from my phone. =20 my configuration for sync-obex: <config> <bluetoothaddress>00:15:de:f0:93:20</bluetoothaddress> <bluetoothchannel>11</bluetoothchannel> <interface>0</interface> <identifier>PC Suite</identifier> <version>1</version> <wbxml>1</wbxml> <username></username> <password></password> <type>2</type> <usestringtable>1</usestringtable> <onlyreplace>0</onlyreplace> <recvLimit>0</recvLimit> <contact_db>Contacts</contact_db> <calendar_db>Calendar</calendar_db> <note_db></note_db> </config> That's all I could accomplish.=20 Did I do something wrong, or did I miss something? Please help me out. Thanks. I hope this is enough information. If not, please write what you'd need. Thanks Peter Kr=C3=B6pfl Traces are attached. Hi All, OK, last time I emailed this list I was asking about how to configure palm-sync. I've done that now (although can't guarantee that I've got everything right). I'm syncing between a Palm Z22 and evolution2. I'm using the rpms for fedora core 4. I hit the hotsync on the Palm and then do msynctool --sync palm-evolution and I get the lovely tweedle-dee noise and all sorts of things about entries in the various members of my palm-evolution things start coming up on my screen. Then the following occurs: Member 2 of type evo2-sync committed all changes. All clients have written Member 2 of type evo2-sync just disconnected And then my Palm goes deedle-twee and it thinks it is now finished, but then msynctool starts working away like a fiend doing something or other (I can tell this from the load on my machine). I did a trace on it and this is what it keeps on spitting out over and over again: [1143908702.891366] MAP(SOLV1,SYNC1,DATA1,INFO0,DEL0,CHK1,MUL1) [1143908702.891408] <<<<<<< osengine_mapping_decider: Waste [1143908702.891450] <<<<<<< engine_message_handler [1143908702.899151] >>>>>>> engine_message_handler((nil), 0xb27e8b48:MAPPING_CHANGED, 0x97a6c40) [1143908702.899242] >>>>>>> osengine_mapping_decider(0x97a6c40, 0x98aeae8) [1143908702.899289] ENG(RUN1,STOP1,SENT1,READ1,MAP1,CHK1,MUL1,SYNC1,COMMITTED1) [1143908702.899332] MAP(SOLV1,SYNC1,DATA1,INFO0,DEL0,CHK1,MUL1) [1143908702.899374] <<<<<<< osengine_mapping_decider: Waste [1143908702.899413] <<<<<<< engine_message_handler [1143908702.907149] >>>>>>> engine_message_handler((nil), 0xb27e8bf0:MAPPING_CHANGED, 0x97a6c40) [1143908702.907241] >>>>>>> osengine_mapping_decider(0x97a6c40, 0x98af3b8) [1143908702.907288] ENG(RUN1,STOP1,SENT1,READ1,MAP1,CHK1,MUL1,SYNC1,COMMITTED1) As you can see, some of the hex addresses change, but not all. It keeps doing this for as long as I let it - I have a 43Mbyte thread file from it now. Has anyone come across this before, or have the faintest idea what is going on?? Hi, I am not successful with the symbian phone Nokia 6630 (very similar to 6680!) and syncml. Connecting etc. works fine, but I have a couple of errors: $ msynctool --sync file-syncmlobexclient Synchronizing group "file-syncmlobexclient" The previous synchronization was unclean. Slow-syncing Member 1 of type file-sync just connected I/O error : Attempt to load network entity http://www.syncml.org/docs/syncml_represent_v11_20020213.dtd received note dsession Member 2 of type syncml-obex-client just connected All clients connected or error Member 1 of type file-sync just sent all changes Member 2 of type syncml-obex-client had an error while getting changes: Request not successfull: 67 Member 1 of type file-sync just disconnected The config for syncml should be fine, I used the one suggested for the 6680. Also I varied the config, using different version etc. but it did not help. Also I varied syncing of Calendar or Notes only, no success! I put the trace files on http://people.freenet.de/torquinox/Thread2794585008.log http://people.freenet.de/torquinox/Thread2802977712.log http://people.freenet.de/torquinox/Thread2813556416.log Any ideas? > For more in depth questions about opensync, i am your > "how-is-it-working-user-guide" :) ...okay, it's more tech-user-guide, but here we go: -how can I influence the format conversions a sync group uses? -how can I dictate what data records of one member matches at an other? -can I add an stack of matching-modules to a sync group? E.g. I need an multi-to-one matching. A dumb mobile with number <--> name only and an computer with one contact --> a bunch of numbers. I think about an module which hides these multi-matchings and shows to each side only alike records and does the _merging_ and _splitting_. Regards, Robert |

Hello everybody! I want to play around with opensync to evaluate it. - There is no technical how-is-it-working-user-guide... Debian seems to have the latest opensync-0.18 libraries as a package, but no plugins. Are there some 'secret' package sources for the rest one needs to get started with opensync??
