Hi All, I'm trying to get synchronisation going between evolution a Palm Z22. I have got this working with kpilot, but this won't sync everything to evolution and I'm hoping I can get it all running with multisync. My question is this: can anyone point me in the direction of how to set up the configuration for the palm-sync plugin? I've had a look at the default, but I can't work out what I need to do with this. I've also tried messing around with kitchensync to see if I could learn anything from there, but without any joy. I just really need to know what to tell msynctool about palm-sync. If anyone has set this up for themselves then I'd be very grateful to hear how they've done it. FYI, I'm using msynctool version "0.90.18" OpenSync version "0.18" Gnome multisync-gui 0.90.18 libopensync-plugin-palm-0.18 libopensync-plugin-evolution2-0.18 pilot-link-0.12.0 and this is all on fedora core 4 (2.6.15-1.1833_FC4smp). I hope that's all the info needed. Thanks a lot for any help. Turlough ************************************************************************** Dr Turlough Downes Email: tur...@dc... I have started a project to create a SyncML client plugin based on the Funambol C++ API. At this point I have been able to sync contacts to the sync4j server at www.scheduleworld.com, so I think it'a about time to let all know what's going on. The project is really two things: a port of the Funambol C++ API to Linux, and a plugin. Both can be found on http://hem.bredband.net/miko22. Brave users (no others!) are encouraged to test it. Don't feed with anything else than vcards for now! Would i be possible to host this on the same server as the other plugins? --michael PS Why yet another SyncML plugin? Actually, I been thinking quite a lot about this, but this is not the place to expand those ideas... DS |

Hi Jim, you have 2 options: build only the required plugins from source but install opensync itself from a package or install everything from source. in the first case, you need the libopensync package as well as the libopensync-dev package (which has the headers etc). in the second case you only need the opensync source. if you install opensync from source you always install the headers as well. Hi Armin, I hope, I'm not bothering you too much with my P800-problems... I managed to sort out some things in the process of syncing the calendar. I got a fresh evolution with just one entry in the calendar, wiped out everything on the phone and went ahead. The sync still fails, the phone replies with Error 500, which seems to be a quite general error. I looked a bit in the logs, and the phone replies to the Add command with Error 500. So, I googled a bit around, and found a page, where someone implemented a syncml-server specially for the p800. This guy wrote in his "ToDo", that the phone answers with Error 500 to his Add commands, too. But his server seems to be thought as a backup-solution. Logs are attached, maybe you see something that I can't see... Well, actually I'm looking into buying this XDA mini S, which O2 here in Germany offers. But I'm not quite sure, yet. Windows Mobile 5 changed its syncing-stuff, so that isn't working under linux either. But I would then try a SyncML Client program [1] on that device, so I still be in the "SyncML boat". Cheers, Manuel [1] from funambol.com , which offers a server-implementation, too. I tried that one out with my P800, which worked fine, but I did not do any Adds to the Device, maybe I'll try that later... -- ma...@ma... http://www.malteser-berlin.de http://www.matronix.de - http://www.elektronik-kompendium.de/public/borchers |

Daniel, Thanks! It works great with file-sync. Congratulations! Unfortunately, I haven't quite got it going with Evolution. Well, having said that, it seems to have worked - I have a ~/.evolution/calendar/local/system/calendar.ics which looks fine, like it's been updated. But nothing shows in Evolution. Anyone know why this might be? The patch only parse the gnokii-sync config rfcomm channel and doesn't fill the "gn_statemachine" struct with it. Please checkout the latest gnokii-sync plugin again and try attached patch. best regards, Daniel |

Hi, here's my (incomplete) test report of syncing a Nokia Communicator 9500 using opensync. I'm using the most recent SVN versions: file-sync/: Revision: 904 libsyncml/: Revision: 115 opensync/: Revision: 904 multisync-0.90/: Revision: 153 syncml/: Revision: 904 The 9500 has (theoretically 4 ways to do the sync): 1) WLAN 2) USB 3) IRDA (not yet tested) 4) Bluetooth (not yet tested) 1) When using the WLAN for syncing, it sends over some packets over the air and then stops. After a few minutes the WLAN connection is closed. Armin: I'll send you the traces in private email. 2) Detection of the existing interfaces shows this: $ sudo syncml-obex-client -u Found 4 USB OBEX interfaces Interface 0: Manufacturer: Nokia Product: Nokia 9500 Interface description: SYNCML-SYNC-CLIENT-INIT Interface 1: Manufacturer: Nokia Product: Nokia 9500 Interface description: SYNCML-SYNC Interface 2: Manufacturer: Nokia Product: Nokia 9500 Interface description: PC Suite Services Interface 3: Manufacturer: Nokia Product: Nokia 9500 Interface description: SYNCML-DM syncml-obex-client.conf: <config><interface>1</interface><identifier>PC Suite</identifier><version>1</version><wbxml>1</wbxml><username></username><password></password><type>5</type><usestringtable>1</usestringtable><onlyreplace>0</onlyreplace><recvLimit>10000</recvLimit><contact_db>Contacts</contact_db><calendar_db>Calendar</calendar_db><note_db>Notes</note_db></config> --> Important is interface #1. Syncronisation fails if "msynctool --sync obex" is run as regular user, resulting in "Unable to connect to the interface". When running as root, it syncs fine against the file-sync plugin. Does anyone know which permission to change? I'm running Kubuntu 5.10 using udev. The regular user is member of the dialout group. Which device in /dev is used here? When plugging the USB cable, the system automatically loads kernel module cdc_acm. My next test will be syncing against kdepim; currently I've used file-sync. I'll send a further report to the list when it's done. What is the current status of using syncml over bluetooth? Regards, Stefan |

Perhaps we can use this suggestion as a "fallback" when certain mobiles doesn't make use of the <type>-Tag? But I haven't got the big picture of the plugin's architecture. Thorsten |
