But you know this best. yes, i can generate the value from the N field. The problem appears if a user changed the fileAs attribute in evo2. lets say someone replaced the fileAs attribute with which was "Doe, John" before with "John". If we would generate the fileAs attribute during the sync we would overwrite this change again with "Doe, John". Dont know if there is a easy solution to this problem. I guess the best approach would be just to generate these fields and hope not too many people fill in custom values. >=20 >> this was a bug in libsyncml. i fixed it now in the dev branch of >> libsyncml. please run: >> >> svn switch http://svn.opensync.org/libsyncml/branches/6620-branch . >> >> in the main libsyncml directory to switch to this branch. >> >> please let me know if this problem is fixed then. >=20 >=20 > I'll test this after work :) >=20 > Thanks! >=20 > Best regards, > Stian >=20 |

It seems the P910 only uses the N value? Is that what other phones are doing as well? So perhaps the problem is with Evo2? Or is it a phone bug? Either way, it would be (very) nice with an option to "create" the other two fields from the N value on my phone... Ok, I've finally got Syncml-plugin working with my Nokia 6620 phone. Once I confirmed my settings I setup syncml to evo2. Got an error when its sending/committing to the phone: Mapping Write Error: Unable to commit change. Error 500 Error writing entry 040000008200E00074C5B7101A82E008000000007062EFB4EA1CC601000000000000000010000000E0C56C802755CB419974FAACF242A633 to member 1: Unable to commit change. Error 500 What does the Error 500 mean? Norm |

Attached files 2.txt and 3.txt (which I _think_ is the relevant files.
Even though I have only one contact on both Evo and the phone, the
traces get huge! Guess that's normal. I have done excatly as I wrote
here.
For 2.txt I added a contact with "Full name: name1 name2" "File as:
name2, name1" and cellphone 12345678 in Evo and synced.
For 3.txt I added an email-address "te...@te..." on the phone, and
synced. Now the contacts "Full name" disappeared from Evo.
I don't know syncml at all, but it seems that Evolution tries to save
two (!) different <FormattedName> (which I'm pretty sure are the ones
the phone doesn't recognize). Then on the sync back, the phone tries to
re-add both <FormattedName>, but obviously with a type that Evolution
doesn't recognize...
Since I don't know SyncML and vCards, I don't know if those
FormattedName's should be recognized by the phone, but do you think
there could be an option to make Evo not write FormattedName to the
phone, while making OpenSync translate LastName, FirstName to
Formattedname? Or is this spec-breaking? Probably is...

something to this project, of you'd need something!

Hi, This is only with contacts, have not started trying tasks and calendar yet :) I guess you might be wanting some traces if you're gonna look into this. But instead of attaching loads of traces, I thought I'd just describe the problems first, and you can ask for whatever you want, if you're going to look at it :) All this is with SVN from today, and syncml over http. And I understand that much (most?) of these bugs/errors might be due to bugs in the phone. I don't know. But I would like to get to know, and perhaps add a workaround if possible... 1: First problem first, when I make a change on the phone, and then sync; I get: Member 2 of type evo2-sync committed all changes. Member 1 of type syncml-http-server committed all changes. All clients have written connection with device has ended Member 2 of type evo2-sync just disconnected Member 1 of type syncml-http-server had an error while disconnecting: Timeout while waiting for a reply to message "DISCONNECT" All clients have disconnected The sync was successful But when a change has happened in Evolution, I get the normal: Member 2 of type evo2-sync committed all changes. Member 1 of type syncml-http-server committed all changes. All clients have written connection with device has ended Member 2 of type evo2-sync just disconnected Member 1 of type syncml-http-server just disconnected All clients have disconnected The sync was successful I guess this is due to a stupid phone, but I never had this problem with Multisyncs syncml plugin (which I had several nights on irc with Bo to debug :) Besides it makes testing boring, since I have to wait a while before it times out :P 2: I create an contact in evo called "name1 name2" (File as "name2, name1". Puts in a couple of phonenumbers. This contact syncs fine, but on the phone I get two "fields" below the normal fields were the text "name1 name2" and "name2, name1" are. I think this is because this is some fields that my phone doesn't really recognize. (If I choose to "File As: name1 name2" I get "name1 name2" twice instead) 3: If I change this contact on the phone, and syncs it, the "Full name" in Evolution disappears (but "File as" is still correct). Though, this makes me unable to edit the contact in Evolution without first re-adding the "Full name". 4: When I delete a contact in Evolution, I get: Member 1 of type syncml-http-server had an error while commiting changes: Unable to add data. Error writing entry 155 to member 1: Timeout while waiting for a reply to message "COMMIT_CHANGE" Mapping Write Error: Timeout while waiting for a reply to message "COMMIT_CHANGE" Error writing entry 156 to member 1: Timeout while waiting for a reply to message "COMMIT_CHANGE" Mapping Write Error: Timeout while waiting for a reply to message "COMMIT_CHANGE" Member 2 of type evo2-sync just disconnected Received an reply to our sync *** glibc detected *** double free or corruption (fasttop): 0xb3f01388 *** Aborted Deleting on the phone works fine, after sync it is deleted in Evo as well. Just not from Evo... Well, that was it for now. Hope you have time to look into some of this. Or at least give me some feedback... Thanks for you incredibly great work on OpenSync! Hi, the problem with libsoup is caused by a change introduced in libsoup cvs. from the changelog: * libsoup/soup-message-io.c (io_write, io_read): g_return_if_fail if these get called after the IO is done. This isn't supposed to happen, but apparently does. Workaround for #334469. Well... i guess it does happen after all :) For now please check out libsoup with the following command to ignore this change: cvs -d :pserver:ano...@an...:/cvs/gnome co -D "2006-04-10" libsoup Best Regards, Armin Bauer Norm Dressler wrote: > I had but to no avail. Further to this problem, a hint from John Najarian suggested an issue with libsoup.so. Well I went hunting around and thought I might have had an older version installed so I uninstalled everything to do with libsoup. Rebuilt and re-installed from the cvs but I still get the wrong version coming back -- pkg-config --modversion libsoup-2.2 2.2.7 More searching determined that the problem was actually with my distro (ARCH Linux) and where it put libsoup when it installed Evolution. Its not under /usr/lib or /usr/include but rather under /opt/gnome. I rebuilt libsoup with the correct prefix for my distro and it built and installed ok this time. I will continue on... thanks for the help John. I didn't know where to put this query so am placing it here. The problem is that I'm not able to access the opensync.org website from my internet connection. My IP belongs to 210.211.170.* and am from India. I was able to open the website from a different ISP. Would appreciate if the opensync.org's administrator can let me know if particularly my IP is blocked (and is requested to unblock it), or if I need to contact my ISP for further details. Thanks Vivek Kapoor |

Hi, a new libsyncml version is finally ready and is now in libsyncml trunk. It fixes a lot of bugs and problems and also adds support for large object handling (probably needed if your phone has pictures associated with a contact). The syncml plugin was updated as well to make use of the new features. The guides to install the library from the docs (http://libsyncml.opensync.org/wiki/doc) are still valid. Please note that the wbxml patch was updated as well to fix a issue with certain Nokia phones. so you might want to repatch the wbxml library if you own a newer nokia phone. There are also some new command line options: --maxObjSize <limit> This specifies the maximum object size that libsyncml should receive --addUTC Forces libsyncml to always add the UTC node even if the protocol is 1.0. Some older phones _require_ this. --allowLateStatus This tells libsyncml to ignore a protocol violation where a status is sent after a command --noPendingReplies Forces libsyncml to wait for all status for the current message so that there are no pending replies. My Nokia 6680 needs these options for example: syncml-obex-client -u 0 --identifier "PC Suite" --sync vcard Contacts --wbxml --recvLimit 10000 --maxObjSize 734000 --allowLateStatus Please try if libsyncml works now for your phone. If it does i would appreciate if you send me the options you used so that i can build a table with phone models and required options. Thanks to everybody who helped me with debugging libsyncml by providing bug reports and traces! Best Regards, Armin Bauer |

So I guess the answer is 'no'. Opensync is just not that useable -- All I want is to sync my phone to SOMETHING/ANYTHING in Linux. Too bad Nokia doesn't offer the PC Suite for Linux -- it may be rough around the edges but at least it works. So I send this post without the traces attached again. If you need the trace-files feel free to contact me and I'll send em off-list. Cheers, Conrad. -- Conrad Wolf <con...@un...> |

Has anyone found a sync solution for Nokia 6620 or the Symbian v60 phones? Nothing in linux seems to work right for syncing up this phone... not gnokii and its variants (gammu, etc) or opensync. I was able to get Sync4j to work to get my data up to the server and then sync with evolution partially but seems a bit overkill to have to build a sync4j server for my one phone. Hi all,
as some others on the list I'm trying to convince my Nokia 6630 to
cooperate with opensync. With the normal branch of libsyncml and the
syncml-plugin I always got a 'Request not successfull: 67' message when
trying to get the changes from the plugins, which was already reported
by Gerik. As Tobi suggested, I've compiled the development branch of
libsyncml and the syncml-plugin. After doing that, I just get a new
error message.
My configuration of the plugins is the following:
conrad@cunnix:~$ msynctool --showgroup nokia6630-file
Groupname: nokia6630-file
Member 1: syncml-obex-client
Configuration : <config>
<interface>0</interface>
<identifier>PC Suite</identifier>
<version>1</version>
<wbxml>1</wbxml>
<username></username>
<password></password>
<type>5</type>
<usestringtable>1</usestringtable>
<onlyreplace>0</onlyreplace>
<recvLimit>10000</recvLimit>
<contact_db>Contacts</contact_db>
<calendar_db>Calendar</calendar_db>
<note_db></note_db>
</config>
Member 2: file-sync
Configuration : <config>
<path>/home/conrad/tmp/file-sync</path>
<recursive>FALSE</recursive>
</config>
When starting a sync I get the following CL output:
conrad@cunnix:~$ msynctool --sync nokia6630-file
Synchronizing group "nokia6630-file"
The previous synchronization was unclean. Slow-syncing
Member 2 of type file-sync just connected
I/O error : Attempt to load network entity
http://www.syncml.org/docs/syncml_represent_v11_20020213.dtd
received event dsession
received contact dsession
Member 1 of type syncml-obex-client just connected
All clients connected or error
Member 2 of type file-sync just sent all changes
I/O error : Attempt to load network entity
http://www.syncml.org/docs/syncml_represent_v11_20020213.dtd
Received an reply to our Alert
Received an reply to our Alert
sml_session.c:707:E:smlSessionGetSessionID: Assertion "session" failed
Abgebrochen
For the traces please see the attached file.
I've had a look at sml_session.c, but since I'm not a coder I haven't
really got a clou what could be the problem. Any ideas?
Cheers,
Conrad.
