Fixing mkinstalldirs is pretty trivial; an Automake option should supply it.
That is probably a candidate for a RFE.

At the moment, yes.  There are a couple of people who have expressed
interest in contributing, but after all, the project is less than a week
old.  There's certainly more to come and room for more hands.  8-)
