Well, if OmT can have an option that the user has to set, that says that 
escaped characters has to be added to the TM as-is, then you can add 
\<br0/\> in the translation to have it added to the TM as <br0/>.  This 
will solve half your problem -- you'll be limited to adding formatting 
that is convertable, and you still won't be able to add raw code.
