Category: Documentation Group: None Status: Open Resolution: None Priority: 5 Private: No Submitted By: smolejv (vitosmolej) Assigned to: Nobody/Anonymous (nobody) Summary: Implement a new documentation browser Initial Comment: The importance of doing our own HTML browsing through the documentation, evades me. it supports just one font it does not understand CSS it can not handle outside URLs it burns up the real estate (add points to your heart's content, there's more I am sure) What speaks against using F1 to call Firefox - Safari, whatever - instead? Once some real project is on the way, there's not much our "very own" F1 handler can do without interfering with the main stream. And I guess we could figure a better splash screen, if this is the one function one needs to salvage. regards Vito, U'heim July 14th 2008 ---------------------------------------------------------------------- >Comment By: Didier Briel (didierbr) Date: 2008-07-15 09:23 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=1343245 Originator: NO Since we would still have at least a platform whose browser: supports just one font, does not understand CSS, etc., I don't see what we would have gained. What about something like this case OS { MAC: call safari Windows: call firefox else: // d*mn leave it as is } Of course an OS special here, a hardware special there, and the application is getting bastardized ... ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Didier Briel (didierbr) Date: 2008-07-14 22:27 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=1343245 Originator: NO While calling a "default" browser under Windows and Mac should not be an issue, there is no such thing under Linux (not to mention FreeBSD and Solaris). That's the point the internal HTML browser has: it works on all platforms.
