At this time, under Windows, OmegaT takes the translator's username from the user's Windows account. It is almost impossible for a Windows user to change his Windows account name without severe repercussions for his computer. And the Windows account isn't necessary the user's name -- it can even be a (potentially unprofessional) nickname. However, when creating a TMX file, the translator might want to be in control of what he is called, and it may not be that Windows account name. In addition, one might want to change the TMX username according to the role, e.g. TR, TR1, RV, QM, etc.
Therefore I suggest having a username field in the settings that the user can edit, even in mid-project, which would affect the creation and modification user IDs in the TMX file. Ideally, the default setting should be the user's Windows account name, to ensure that users' current experience remains the same.
The username can already be specified in
Preferences... -> Team -> Name/ID, with the Windows account name filled by default.Hmm, how did I miss that.
Can we close this?
Yup.
