Since #5 Lossy Compression of Jpeg in PDF was released with 8.40, the PDF compression profiles have had no effect whatsoever. The default ghostscript settings are used every time.

I have attached two log files for compressing a pdf with each of the 6 profiles, one from 8.30 and one from 8.40. While 8.30 provides different quality settings all 6 times (although the no downsampling and custom ones don't achieve the desired result), 8.40 provides no quality settings all 6 times.
